  1. Great another year with face mask we won't be attending just like we didn't attend last year... waste of money I'm not going to walk around outside in the humidity in heat with a mask on just not going to do it my family and I have been to Las Vegas four times during the pandemic they don't require Mask for outside activities there

  2. Call it fear fest and make it actually scarry and eliminate those no boo charms.. The emd of the paramount days i can remember seeing signs that said the park was not kid friendly after dark.... THAT IS WHAT THEY NEED TO DO

I'm in Rivertown so it's good to hear we put in some good work! What made it good?

Lots of interaction with the park goers. I think there could be a few more of you.. Maybe some scarecrows like corn stalkers used to have I will say we hit shipwrecked at 12am and the scare actors out numbered guest... However they were just standing around talking to one another.

So as far as BD goes, Drums of the Dead is KI's version of BD. Apparently the BD guys were actually contracted through another company and not employed by Cedar Fair. At least, that is what my co-worker said who still works shows for Carnivale, Haunt (not this year though), and Winterfest. This co-worker also informed me that other Cedar Fair parks are still running BD...

Yes im aware BD was contracted through street drum corp. Im really close with the gentleman that ran it last year and had been with them for over 5 seasons ;) He told me the park approached him about writing a show for KI to use a few seasons ago and he said it would be hard to do something on par with BD.  Drums of the dead was written by a park performer named Josh and it is very good but its just not as energetic and lacks the raw energy.

Also i noticed a lack of theamed music playing over the park p.a. and No announcements about when such and such show will be on in 15 mins. And a lack of creepy ambiance sounds

  5. At the haunt as i type this.. Scare zones are all working well, haunts are moving quickly but groups in black out and chaos were too large for the fright actors to keep up. Rivwr town reaping was espically good.. Drums of the dead is litwrally the dollar store version of Blood Drums really REALLY sad.. about losing BD. Haunted Homecoming was better than expected but not nearly as good as hot blooded and a far cry from dead awakening (suggest edit on name)..

You should probably check out FoF in closer detail this season! I wouldn't have posted it if I had not seen it myself.

Its the weird almost biohazard / radiation symbol right? It is on some theming inside f.o.f. as well as The Beast and Mystic Timbers

That area seems like good Haunt real estate. I wonder why it isn't used anymore.

Im old but not so old i forgot what Ive done. It wasnt the timberwolf walk way.. The raised concrete walls from the "canal" were incorporated into the deco. ... I read the definitive ki haunt post.. There were several errors and omissions not enough to engage in arguing over if i find photos ill post them

For awhile, the souvenir cups kept getting bigger each year (to ~32oz iirc) to offer better "value" with $1 refills, but they also encouraged a lot of wasted drink.

The 24oz bottles in recent seasons are a more appropriate serving size, though the season or all-day paper cup refills are infinitely better for the same price.

Im not a fan of the paper cups i tried them and ended up switching back to the bottle

My understanding is that this was not the case, although that was my first thought.

Don't forget that the other parks are still using SDC so this situation is certainly unique.

I find that very odd indeed. Ki may be the proving grounds

More details released about the 5 new attractions.

I'm guessing Drums of the Dead will take the cake as the best new attraction this year.  They've told people it'll be bigger and better than Blood Drums.  Blood Drums had an excellent year last year.  If they can top it this year then go for it!

Drums of the dead = KI no longer wants tonpay SDC to use the Blood Drums brand

Yes. Plus they could have 2 haunted houses or 10. They could be Universal quality or church festival quality. They could have Grammy worthy shows or Haunted Homecoming.  People will still show up in droves.  Until people stop showing up “good enough” is going to be the quality standard that they are aiming for.

Sadly i think you are right. I will always hold my season pass but this may be our last year for the haunt

  12. Does anyone here remember when they used the drained Congo falls for the scarecrow theamed haunted attraction Corn Stalkers? They only did it one year,  I thought it was a great use of space and it kept the fog centralized. My KI group really obly go for the haunt..the lack of new haunted attractions and the installation of winterfest deco while the haunt is going on not to mention the no boo glowing things is QUICKLY killing the spooky vibe. Back when my group started going to the haunt (2001) there were tons of scare actors romers and haunted attractions through out the park... Even halloween themed prizes at most games.. And it was SCARY. There were even signs that said the park was not necessarily child friendly after 7pm. Can anyone shed some light on to why its been so watered down?

From 2017 and 2018 I had the privilege of working as a Park Ambassador. It was a job that was a dream come true for me. I basically had the opportunity to do what was needed to make a guests day, get to explore the park and hope not just guests but associates were doing well and if they needed help with anything.

In 2017, Our last day of the season, I was back by Dinosaurs Alive talking to some guests when a lady approached me asking if I was able to help her with something.

I was delighted to help her and it was even more awesome was, her daughter just hit 48in height requirement. However, her mom was scared/not a fan of rollercoasters. She wanted someone to ride with her daughter, which at the time I was able to. I tried to help make it one of the best memories they ever had. I told the mom and the girl that they could choose up to 3 rides, and ill take her to the front of the line and she can choose any row to sit in (granted the park was dead to begin with so not much benefit in skipping lines) she decided on doing Adventure Express, Mystic Timbers and The Beast to ride. She really liked Adventure Express and at the time she did not like Mystic Timbers as unfortunately it was rather chilly and the cool air kinda took her breath away and it scared her a bit (although I her she loves riding it now) The Beast she really liked too.

Well as we got off Mystic Timbers her mom was so ecstatic and happy, she wanted a picture of me and her daughter together (both with her phone and from the ride) well I went ahead and got the photo taken care for her and she was almost in tears with just joy and excitement. Actually as we went towards The Beast, she had to Facetime a family member and had to tell them how much of a great time she was having and told me to say hi. Everytime I worked and they saw me out in the park, the girl always had to run up and give me a hug.

I loved getting the privilege of doing stuff like that. The excitment kids got from a gesture like that all way down to just a "I love Kings Island" sticker always helped me feel better knowing they are enjoying there visit. Granted not everyone did, but I would try as hard as possible to make sure they did.

Ok how does one get that job

I think the downgrade is more or less the flimsier plastic and so-so designs we currently have. I would love to see the park offer "premium" collector cups that were separate from the drink plan bottles.

That's a great idea... Cause I need another reason to give KI my money

Viking Fury responds very poorly to rain. If it rains enough, the ship will hydroplane on the tires that drive the ride's swing. Not only will the ship not be able to make its full swing while this happens, it can even mess up the tires, which is an even worse off mechanical issue.

It can take an entire 24 hours for the tires to dry up. In my time working at Viking Fury, we sometimes had to close down after cleaning up vomit because the hose we used made the tires too wet. Overall, the ride is just very fragile when it comes to rain. More often than not, it will close down when it rains.

So weird being you see this type of ride at carnivals and fairs operating in the rain when they shut down most other carnie rides.

This Beast style cup are the ones I remember most from my childhood. Only to be accompanied by the plastic belt clip emoji23.png I like how you can see how much smaller the cups have gotten too emoji849.png

They may be smaller in height, but with the exception of Few LARGER CAPACITY cups they have always held 32oz to my knowledge
