  1. Even though they built WindSeeker feet from the FC pad and it looks fine.
  2. I know it is a bit of an over-analyzation but why would change that part of the map unless something changed there in the park. Looking at the new map it seems we are going to have a more updated dining area than before. I understand this does not mean this is fact but it is an interesting bit to look at.
  3. I have accepted the challenge of estimating the height of the brakes on Drop Tower! I first measured out a length of 315ft in google earth pro and overlayed an image of Drop Tower to math the 315ft value to ensure the picture was now to scale. Then I measured from the base of the tower to the top of the brake fins on the tower itself. You can see by this photo that the brake fins start at about 110ft from the base of the tower. This would mean that the drop is only 205ft tall if we measure by how much has no brakes. I believe that the 264ft number might come from the distance the rider falls while experiencing 0 g in relation to the seat as this would only stop sometime after the brakes engage. Edit: I have realized an error in my measurement. The method stayed the same but the more accurate height of the brake run is 125ft.
  4. It looks like, according to this map, that the dining area is right next to the water. This would be protruding farther than it previously did.
  5. The most needed improvement, in my opinion, is the revamp of the theming of the themed attractions such as FOF, AE, Backlot, and Boo Blasters. With age, these rides lost quality and functionality in the animatronics alike. It feels that little to no matinence goes to maintaining the theme and it is a shame.
  6. I know it was not an option but my vote is for Firehawk! Modifications: Convert it into a B&M Giga with a whole new layout.
  7. I don't see any reason that would make the Skyride coming back in the original spot impossible. I have marked a line for the path the ride took. I have also marked 4 perpendicular lines to this path marking where the footers used to be. The only things needed to be removed would be Slingshot and Snoopy boutique. I think this is the best place to put a new Skyride because it will greatly improve the beauty of the park and the memories of the old Skyride. Although this path is less useful as a transportation method I believe this location would make the new Skyride a more enjoyable ride.
  8. I also have to add that Xtreeme Skyflier's ride model is known as a Sky Coaster.
  9. I feel that haunt was the second priority to Winterfest for the past 2 years, but now that it seems that park has Winterfest all figured out they can bring back some more focus on Haunt. The public love haunt and it shows because it seems that every Saturday night is extremely packed. I agree that rides and mazes need to come together and bring a more interactive haunting experience like Tombstone Terrortory was. Maybe some haunted antique cars of 2019?
  10. I would love to see the return of PT because I am not a fan of the mass production of Boo Blasters that Cedar Fair has across the chain and PT was a unique experience and certainly memorable. Sadly, I think that the park is going to choose to stay with Boo Blasters because it is a more interactive experience. It goes without saying that KI is low on dark rides and themed rides entirely. AE has lost a lot of it's theming and most of the animatronics do not work anymore. FOF lost the launch theming and the immersion throughout the ride. Lastly, we lost Tomb Raider: The Ride! I would not be surprised if we see a new dark ride in the old Tomb Raider building in the next 5 years or so!
  11. If we look at the KI 2019 map it looks like there is some sort of balcony here that will allow us to get a closer view to the fountain! Very cool!
  12. Even in that case of a pass holder making more trips to the park they still will spend more money on food, games, and merchandise. I have heard numerous times that food and beverage is KI's money maker, not admission.
  13. Let's take Banshee as an example. What I am saying is that 2014 was better than in 2013 for attendance but in 2015 was less than in 2014 but still greater than in 2013. It would take a long time before the attendance would go back to the low numbers of 2013. (2013 < 2015 < 2014) It is not only personal observations that lead me to believe this. It is my inference as well. Let's take the example of a car. Speed= Park attendance. In 2016 Kings Island is at a steady pace but once Mystic opened in 2017 the gas pedal was pressed to make the car pick up great speed. Then the gas pedal was let off after the hype ran out for the ride and the car is currently drifting towards were it was in 2013. Now it will take a long time for the car to get that slow again but a new attraction such as a new coaster will start the cycle all over again. As for KD the only explanation I have is that some parks react differently than others to new attractions. This probably means that KD does not have as large of a spike in attendance as Kings Island does after a new coaster and therefore would be a poor business decision to invest too much into KD.
  14. I agree that it is not proven that the park is on a permanent decline. That was just a hypothesis of my own based on the previous attendance of parks around the world after they get a major coaster. Parks continuously add new rides because it boosts attendance for a short time. They need to consistently add to maintain this heightened attendance.
  15. I don't know what laying off workers has to do with anything... "throwing money at the problem" I think you are referring to park expansion which is something the park has done year after year since 1972. I love Mystic Timbers and I believe it was a great addition to the park I just believe that now 2 years after it opened it has lost its hype and the GP want more. I apologize if I have offended anyone. I only made that post to answer the question is a giga needed and I answered along the lines that something is needed and a giga is one answer. Thank you for all the replies though!
  16. Although I do not have any specific numbers, I know from working at the park this season versus last season that there were far less busy days. This is also very usual as a new coaster is a major attendance booster and usually the next season drops lower than the previous one. As for who is disappointedly mystic the answer was stated in my original post. Having many GP friends and the comments I hear around the park many of the usual guests of KI will consider it a kiddy coaster. This is not a shared belief of mine as I find MT quite enjoyable. The sad truth is that the GP want more and more. They do want a new coaster every 2 years. Furthermore being disappointed does not mean that you will not ride it. When people were speculating TTD people had some quite outlandish Ideas and hopes for the ride. Some were let down but they still ride it none the less. Mystic has high capacity and therefore attracts more and more guests to the line.
  17. The park is starting to get stale for the GP and attendance is on its way down. Many were disappointed by Mystic Timbers and are hoping for more. The way to fix this issue is by giving KI a record-breaking coaster that will bring people far and wide to the park. A giga is one answer but another could be a ground-up RMC on the scale of Steel Vengence. Although this is unlikely an RMC would be built for 2020, it would still be suitable for the park.
  18. During the offseason before the 2014 season, people had their speculation about Fury but it really ramped up when the teasers saying Rome wasn't built in a day showed up during the 2014 season. (This was teasing about its original to be named Centurion but was later changed to Fury 325) Edit: The Centurion trademark was filed on (2013-10-18) but has since been unused and has an abandoned status as of (2019-01-14) meaning it is unlikely to be the name of any Cedar Fair future attraction.
  19. I don't know if it has been discussed yet on this forum (and I don't want to search through all 140 pages) but has anyone talked about the valley behind X-base. It is ~50-60 ft and if the first drop went down there we have some possibility to have a record-breaking drop. Think about it. If the valley is 60ft and your lift hill is 340ft (only 15ft taller than fury) then you have a strata drop on your hands. I had already built a concept of this and it is on our channel here: New Kings Island Giga! StraGiga 405 (Speculation Video)
