  1. I said the layout is underwhelming. Not the ride. Huge difference.

If you don’t mind me asking for an explanation, what is the difference?

  2. This is that 200 ft tall wing coaster B&M built in China. Those lift-hill supports look like a good match to those in the diagram to me. Even the turn-around is the same.  I'm afraid we're looking at a 200 ft wing coaster. I hope I'm wrong. I've been wanting a giga for years.

If this is the case it should make fan from other parks very happy to watch us be wrong once again about getting a giga..

  3. The photos had an incredible amount of detail that only a professional would have been able to make. I don’t think the user realized what he had truly done until he deleted the photos.

I’m getting the sense that you and other who saw the “leak” aren’t impressed with what you saw and don’t want to share it for fear of backlash to KI from fans for it not being the record breaking GIga so many wanted.

  4. Alright man, can you at least tell us if it looked good? Also, I am curious as to why people who HAVE seen it are completely convinced of it's authenticity, can you shed some light on that at least?

Agreed, is there undeniable proof that we should believe it?

  5. Reading the WCPO article on Facebook wasn’t as cringeworthy as the comment section.

My favorite was “if it’s not millennium force, maverick, valravyn, or top thrill dragster style coaster, I’m frankly not impressed”

  6. Anyone have any thoughts on what the stats could be? Not just for a giga, but for whatever you think it could be.

If it does turn out to be a giga I believe the stats will be at least comparable to Fury 325 if not a little better. I think B&M has a better understanding of what they are capable of doing with a giga layout than they did when designing Fury and Leviathan.

I screwed up quoting DiamondBanshe but my response is the second part.

Let’s all agree KI is on the map. It is by attendance alone. I also certainly don’t see anyone arguing that this new coaster shouldn’t break any records.

To sum it up we all want a new world record breaking coaster. We’re on the same team here peeps!

Sorry dad lol. You're right though!!

Diamondback, Banshee and Mystic Timbers are all world class rides. I would argue our Top 4 is unparalleled by nearly any other park in the United States.

If you want to argue by personal preference alone you would be right, but if you want to take into account the majority of the community outside of KI then you'd see a different opinion. I would not trade those coasters, but we have to be realistic, no everything we have is the best.

And I made my point with adding my info about KI's history and the history of the industry in general.   Kings Island is in a healthy position from a business standpoint, which means they're 'on the map' despite the lack of what you think are record breaking rides and rides that are the first to do something.  Amusement parks aren't successful entirely by building roller coasters.  One flashy giga won't change that.  The people claiming that KI 'isnt on the map' are suggesting, whether on purpose or not, that KI's business model hinges on this one ride being built for 2020.  Saying and defending the notion that KI isn't on the map proves that point (this last sentence was edited in).

That kind of claim is going to get backlash and will have people that don't agree (including yours truly).  Like if you want to discuss it, by all means do so, but don't think your ideas aren't going to meet resistance.  And yes, I, and I imagine many others, will continue to have the opinion that the notion of Kings Island not being 'on the map' is ludicrous.

Ok we are all on the same team here. I 100% agree with you that Kings Island is "on the map" and I also agree with you that the success of the park doesn't depend on a 2020 Giga. As a flagship park though we need/deserve a world class coaster, which is something most enthusiast outside of this site believe KI doesn't possess.

The Racer revitalized the coaster industry and proved you could build a large wooden roller coaster in a modern theme park.

The Beast was the tallest, longest, and fastest roller coaster in the world in 1979 and still is the longest wooden coaster in the world.

The Bat was the world's first suspended roller coaster.

King Cobra was the first coaster built from the ground-up as a stand-up roller coaster.

Vortex was the first the first roller coaster to do six inversions.

Flight of Fear was the world's first LIM-launched coaster.

Son of Beast was the world's tallest, fastest and only looping wooden coaster.

Diamondback is still widely acclaimed and extremely popular.

Banshee is the world's longest inverted coaster.

Mystic Timbers was ranked as the Best New Ride of 2017 by the Golden Ticket Awards and is often regarded as one of GCI's very best.

And that is just roller coasters!

I would like a giga. However, claiming that Kings Island is not on the map is one of the most preposterous statements I have ever read on this site.

I'm not setting out to be argumentative but even your own post lists the majority of the achievements as "was" I think that means we are now behind. KI made world class coasters then, why shouldn't we at least want this one to be a world class record breaker?

@New Horizons @DonkeyKong So I can't rebut opinions with facts and my own opinions?  That's a huge gaslighting argument. Do you not have your own opinions that can back up  your claims and rebut mine?  If you're going to get involved in a discussion like this, you ought to be prepared to defend your positions.  Claiming I'm somehow preventing you from responding is disingenuous and putting words in my mouth.

I actually did at sources to what I stated, however you claimed that everything I stated didn't fit your narrative therefore we need to move on from it. I freely grant you I may not present the greatest argument but its my opinion, and I ask you again according to your criteria what should we be discussing?

There's a lot of nuance in this discussion that some you guys are really ignorant of.

    1. This whole argument that somehow, Kings Island isn't 'on the map' and needs to be put on it has been thoroughly lambasted and debunked tons on this site, why some of you choose to still die on that hill is beyond me.

    2. What 'firsts' are there really to do with a giga?  Back in the 80's, the coasters that pulled off the 'firsts' were easier to come by.  If you go through the history of roller coasters, steel coasters didn't really start becoming a thing until the 60's, and then adding inversions (only loops and corkscrews) in the 70's, which Arrow, Scwarzkopf and eventually Togo were the spearhead of. The 80's was when the diversity of types that you can only accomplish with a steel coaster came into fruition, which was supercharged in the 90's with what B&M and eventually Intamin and Premier would bringing to the table in that period.

Now a days, we're closer to the of a plateau of what coasters have reached so coming up with the 'first' for something has to be something pretty creative.  Giga's have been done before (there are 5 of them currently from 3 different designers) and aside from adding a few new elements or padding the stats, you can't really do much with a giga that would have the impact that Millennium Force had back in 2000, and even those few minute changes won't come close to what Millennium Force accomplished.   We're not going to see anything like we saw in the 80s and 90s happen again in the industry.

    3. Also consider where Kings Island stood in the food chain between the Paramount era and the Cedar Fair era.  Paramount only had 5 parks and had the backing of a huge multimedia company for finances.  Now, they're in a chain of 11 parks with some pretty big hitters such as Knott's and Cedar Point added to the mix where CF has to rotate their spending to accommodate all their parks in a way that has the best outcome in the ROI.

According to you what is there even to discuss then? The name and color scheme?

What? Kings Island has plenty of good coasters 4 of which I’d argue would be in CP’S top 8. But honesty who cares? Kings Island already has a great collection, the notion that Kings Islands line up is severely lacking a major roller coaster is complete nonsense. I’d rather take Kings Islands atmosphere over Cedar Points coaster line up any day.

I see kind of see your point, but were talking about world class rides not park atmosphere.

  14. Kings Island needs to go all out on this coaster. Now I understand it can't necessarily break all the records we'd love to see, but it need to be something special. Kings Island is seriously in lack of a coaster that is universally loved by all enthusiast, and seen by the gp outside of our region as a must experience ride. For reference Coaster Buzz has a top 100 list that is continuously updated and currently the highest rated coaster at KI is Banshee at 21. Cedar Fair and KI have to recognize that this coaster whatever it ends up being needs to be special.

  15. The Christmas posters in FoF during Winterfest had an astral type of theme and hinted at 2020 and 355.

Didn’t someone on here say it would have to be roughly 355 ft to achieve 100+ mph?

  16. They were supposed to get the hyper in 2020 yes, it got cancelled for many reasons (change of plans). It won't be the first time CF changed plans, Yukon Striker was purchased in 2015 to open in 2016 and CF at the last minute delayed the project and built Valravn. Perhaps It happened again for KI or another park, it happens. As for the track on site, there's no evidence that the non-painted track is headed for KI, so until track shows up on site or there's evidence, I wouldn't put my hopes up for a giga. And maybe it'll be a different manufacturer and B&M will be there to upgrade current rides made by them.

With all the evidence at hand If you aren’t getting your hopes up for a giga then what are you getting your hopes up for?

Just so I know, are you arguing that we can’t rule out grey as the final color for the MCT track?

  18. I swear I've seen that flyer before. Was it during the Mystic Timbers construction thread?

Somebody put it in the giga speculation thread the other day. Claimed they had “insider information” from somebody in marketing. They never proved any sources.
