  1. Wait has the park ever said that? I hear people on here say things like that all the time but it would be really surprising to hear that someone from the park said that lol. You have a good point though regardless.
  2. Oh wow I'm pretty sure I'd just stop coming back to work after a couple days of that. That sounds awful. lol
  3. Totally agree! The music over in that section has been great lately. Also I guess this is an unpopular opinion around here now but I still like the Rivertown music.
  4. Yeah that's what I meant by the very next sentence lol.
  5. Oh good, sounds like they're going to be annoyingly over the top and hyper vigilant for a while like a 16 year old lifeguard. Oh well, at least they hired more security and hopefully we won't have any more big problems at the park.
  6. I don't know how much you guys were keeping tabs on it, but the same thing happened when they yoinked a bunch of days from CP's operating calendar. People figured it out HOURS before there was any mention from the park about it. In addition to that the website still showed the park being open those days, you just couldn't make reservations for the park or the hotels. People were @ing them on twitter and they just didn't respond. I get that they probably wanted time to coalesce around a message before saying anything but I think it just ****ed a lot of people off. You bring up the point about Social Media being dormant and it makes me wonder if they've been told to just kind of leave those accounts alone for a while until all this blows over lol.
  7. I hear you. I got an email from them about it and just happened to see it, otherwise I wouldn't have even known lol.
  8. My take on it was the decreased hours are to prevent another security situation while they sort everything out. I'd bet money the Mason police recommended the temporary change. I'm sure they've been able to hire more security but it's going to take a couple weeks to get things on track in that regard. I don't have any inside information obviously so I could totally be wrong that's just what I'm thinking.
  9. I wasn't aware that was something they could do.
  10. Uh....how much do you know about the 70's and 80's? Also, I'm not that old thank you very much! lol. No idea why you'd assume that. I really don't think highschool kids should have to bring their mom to go to Kings Island just because Cedar Fair has completely botched the first 3 weeks of the season. The individuals who caused this are of course at fault for their own actions, but some of the responsibility here absolutely goes to the park.
  11. People keep using the word daycare....How many 14-15 year olds did all you guys know that went to daycare? Once you're that age going somewhere is just called "doing something".
  12. Wow yeah this is crazy that people want this I agree with you completely. I've lived in this region my entire life and I'm sure it's been the same for a lot of you that the first time you're able to walk around at Kings Island without your parents is a right of passage around here (even if you had to meet back at the Eiffel Tower by 4pm. EXACTLY 4pm). One of my first "dates" with my wife was at KI on a fall Saturday back when we were both in 8th grade. I have GREAT memories of going to Kings Island with my friends at that age. I'm amazed that people are applauding Kentucky Kingdom enacting a policy that forces High School freshman to walk around an amusement park with their parents. If there's anyone who should be absolutely able to enjoy amusement parks, wouldn't it be people that age? It's funny because I'd bet money that some of the people on this board pushing for this change are the same people that go on and on about how soft kids are nowadays because parents baby them and won't let them do anything. The reason Cedar Fair keeps getting bad press lately is largely on their own shoulders. You go into a season where you know staffing is going to be a challenge, try to hire security cards for like $1.50 an hour LESS than Walmart pays people to decorate birthday cakes, and then wonder why fights are breaking out in the park.
  13. I like your answers a lot, but this one especially. I'm really worried they're going to keep the shrunken calendar. I mean especially since they're business is so much about passes and things like the meal plan, it seems they might actually have more of an incentive to operate less.
  14. Can you elaborate on what you mean by this? I had been to Cedar Point around this time but not enough to have an opinion on it like that, and so I'm just curious.
  15. Hey guys. So a lot has been made lately about the problems that are going on at Cedar Point. We know a lot of them have been caused by staffing issues, but apart from that, what changes do you think could be made to make the experience of going to Cedar Point better for everyone? I know a lot of people have been saying the park has been kind of hit or miss for a couple years so just curious.
  16. I agree completely on both counts. On the topic of overselling, I was hearing that Steel Vengeance was at a 91 minute wait in FL last weekend, so yeah they are definitely selling too many.
  17. I've actually heard way more complaints about Vortex from enthusiasts than I ever did from GP. My Gp friends weren't crazy about it or anything, but also I don't feel the gp forms super strong opinions about any of these rides. I think the people who really cared that Vortex was coming down were just people who have been going to KI a really long time. Like it kind of hit me in the feels a bit to see it come down, but that was just nostalgia. I don't miss riding it really at all.
  18. I'm honestly genuinely interested in your perspective here. Is it time for you to move on because the quality of the experience is no longer up to your expectations? Or is it just that you're kind of bored with Amusement parks in general?
  19. Man sorry to hear that. I honestly can't wait for Daily operations.
  20. Are there any ride ops or line separators on this board who can clear up what the actual procedure is supposed to be for Fast Lane? How many people are you supposed to let through a cycle? That kind of thing.
  21. I mean this isn't really something I think is a message boards place to enforce. We all love Kings Island, I'm no exception, but I don't understand why so many people on this board seem to think it's our responsibility to keep the media from knowing about what's going on in the park. If something happens that's a significant story, they're going to hear about it one way or another. Now the rule in the first post of the thread about avoiding posting vague things that sound like possible emergencies I get, but when something is actually going on that's sort of PR's responsibilty to handle, not a bunch of fans on a forum.
  22. Yeah one way or another I would not be surprised to see some contruction of some kind by the time we get to the end of the season. I bet they'll be at the very least updating some more things prior to the anniversary.
  23. I honestly don't understand this idea people have here that Kings Island is really concerned about making sure no coaster is taller than the Eiffel Tower. I honestly think that had absolutely 0 to do with how tall Orion is. If it had been in the budget, they probably would have gone ahead and made it a little taller. Don't get me wrong, I understand the logic I just think it's wrong. Yeah the Eiffel Tower is an important landmark there, but I HIGHLY doubt they feel it's important that they limit themselves on what kinds of attractions they should build based on this thing they built in 1972. If they came to the conclusion, for example, that building a TTD clone at KI would bring tons of people to the park for some reason, I don't think the height of the Eiffel Tower would come into play in that decision at all really. However I agree that they probably won't be building anything taller than Orion anytime soon. I'm having a hard time even thinking what the point would be. If you're looking for really tall coasters with big drops, they kind of have that covered already. Personally I think they'll be looking for a different kind of experience for the next few coaster additions.
