  1. I saw this tweet earlier and didn't think anything of it at all. I'm curious, what is making people think this is a teaser for the new ride? Just the fact that it seems kind of random?
  2. Took my family to KI Thursday and had a great day. Finally got on the KMAA and honestly really enjoyed it. Rode Scrambler for the first time since probably around the turn of the millennium, and even though we were really there for the kids, my wife let me sneak off for a (nearly) walk on ride on MT, and later on got to ride DB. I've been several times this season already, but my Kids have only been with me maybe twice (this season). As we were walking in, my son was talking about how he wanted to ride the Viking ship, and it occurred to me that the last two seasons I've been going (took a long hiatus from the park) I haven't seen that thing running much. Last year I don't think I ever saw it running before June, and this year seems to be on the same trajectory. Anyone know what this is about? Does the Viking Ship usually stay closed until later in the season?
  3. Yeah someone else brought this up as well probably 70-80 pages back or more. It's not a bad point, but I personally really do see this being space/aviation themed. If you look at the station, it really does resemble the FoF building. I wouldn't bet the farm on you being wrong on this, but I'd bet something, lol.
  4. In case anyone is interested.
  5. Wouldn't it either need to be taller or have a launch to do that?
  6. While people have certainly been saying they aren't satisfied, I haven't seen anyone claim that it's a failure on the parks end, but sure yeah they aren't just working to appeal to 1% of the customer base.
  7. This point has been made multiple times, and in fact this point gets made basically any time real fans of a product complain about it. I understand that the GP is a more significant part of a parks business, but where do people get the idea that coaster enthusiasts are somehow irrelevant? I wouldn't be so quick to assume CF, SF and others don't even consider them when making decisions. They may not be the biggest market they try to attract, but I'm sure they do try and attract them.
  8. I'm sure it's a possibility, but I'd be surprised if something didn't pop up at some point before the announcement. I think it's weird there hasn't been anything already, but who knows. I don't think people are just complaining to complain. KI Fans have been hoping for a Giga for a long time. After Fury was built, I imagine to a lot of people it just seemed as if CF wouldn't move BACKWARDS and create something MUCH smaller as the follow up. This is Kings Islands one and ONLY Giga that they will be getting (For the forseeable future, of course maybe one shows up later but I'd be willing to bet for many of us, our coaster riding days could be behind us by then.), and CF has decided to build one that on paper looks FAR less impressive than the last one they built. Naturally fans are disappointed by that, It's really not that complicated.
  9. From what I understand we're already well behind schedule on this compared to previous rides, so I guess the only meaningful answer is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  10. Well folks, that's it. Today we have confirmation the leaked layout was 100% real. Thanks for playing!
  11. This is probably a better topic for another thread but this was during my late teenage hiatus from going to KI that lasted a couple of years, but I'd love to know what you mean by this. What happened during the period between the Viacom split and Cedar Fair? Though I had been to the park prior to PKI, I grew up mostly during the time Paramount owned the park and remember feeling really sad when CF bought the park. I don't feel that way anymore, but I do still get nostalgic for the PKI days every now and then.
  12. I would completely disagree with this. The theming in FoF is STILL better than MT now, even though I definitely wouldn't say it holds up to be what it was in 1996. I was a kid when I first saw FoF, and back in it's heyday, that thing seemed insane. The way the building looks like some weird Area 51 type place, and then when you finally get inside and there's this Flying Saucer sitting there (I seem to remember it being a lot harder back then to see the mirror). All of the stuff in there looked pretty rad at the time, and the video going in the background didn't seem nearly as cheesy (though still cheesy). Waiting in the queue for that ride always felt a bit ominous and foreboding. Whenever the trains would launch all the lights would flicker, the fact that you couldn't see what was going on really until you were right up to the ride, those mannequins in stasis pods, to me it was all really really cool for the time. One touch I always really liked was the way the train shoots off (the biggest "OH HELL NO" moment I can think of waiting in line for a coaster back before I was an enthusiast) and then seemingly returns seconds later, completely empty. As long as Disney is outspending CF and others like 3 or 5-1 for attractions like this, they are always going to be better theming wise, but when I think of good theming around a seasonal theme park attraction, FOF is one of the first things that comes to mind.
  13. That is really cool! I never knew about that. I'm sure I saw people like that but didn't realize what was going on, lol.
  14. I think a tunnel would be on the plans...
  15. Or just don't bring a backpack and a phone in the park with you? You can leave them in the car...
  16. They don't need to. Just check the KI Central forums every day and wait for one of us to do it, lol
  17. LOL ok so you are able to surmise our age and socioeconomic status by reading our comments about a planned amusement park ride? You da real decoder.
  18. If Cedar Fair was based in the North Pole and just built this stuff for us just to give us a top notch experience, expecting nothing in return, I'd agree with you that we're all kind of being a bunch of spoiled brats. I'm going to ride this thing as much as I can, I'm probably also going to really like it. I'm still disappointed. This is the long rumored Kings Island giga? This is what they follow up Fury with? If this was just the first of a series of Gigacoasters that would be built at Kings Island, I'd be psyched as hell. Knowing this is probably the biggest attraction KI is going to get for quite some time? Not so much.
  19. The way people keep urging folks to be "grateful" is super weird to me. I like Kings Island, I want to see it be successful and at times Cedar Fair has made decisions that I'm really happy they made, but I'd never say I'm "Grateful" to them. More just cautiously optimistic that they won't screw it all up.
  20. What do you mean by green sheet folks? Just curious.
  21. Screw it let's all just eat our left shoes. Community bonding activity time!!!
  22. Thanks for the new desktop background bud!
  23. I mean he explains how it was made and everything in the video posted a page back or so. Wasn't meant to trick anyone. According to his video, an engineer friend of his made this based on the leaked layout. EDIT:THE_BEASTmaster not trying to suggest you were saying it was made to trick anyone, wanted to clarify that just expanding on what you said.
  24. I think this more likely suggests it's not a transfer track.
  25. This point has been made multiple times......
