  1. Can someone overlay Copperhead Strike and/or Kumba onto The Vortex plot?
  2. I don't think that's the bottom of the drop. It just looks like a random piece of track on the ground.
  3. If we get a floorless, it's probably going to be closer to Hydra than Kumba in terms of layout. Tons of speed, some inversions but not many.
  4. Alright, top options for me. Because I'm bored. RMC T-Rex. First of its kind (technically), KI finally gets an RMC, might be a dueling coaster as well (judging by that concept that got leaked from IAAPA a while back). Perfect addition. Gestlauer Dive Machine. Brilliant lighting scheme, inversion machine. No launches please. MACK Launch Coaster. Uses the terrain a bunch, tons of hangtime. B&M Flyer. Only one around, more terrain usage. B&M Dive Machine. 50/50 on this one. It might ruin The Beast's secluded feel, but it wouldn't be a bad addition. Not unique at all though. RMC Hybrid. Oh boy, unpopular opinion time. I actually rank this lower than a couple of B&M's. I just think that it might be wooden coaster overkill, and KI is sandwiched between two parks with existing RMC's. Not to say that it would be a bad coaster, but it wouldn't be super unique. B&M Floorless. Most boring out of all the options.
  5. Just because Raptors can go up to 200 hundred feet doesn't mean that T-Rex's can't go below 200. The only difference between the two types is one has two seats a row (or more) and the Raptor only has one. Also, don't forget that we just got Mystic Timbers. So technically, two coasters in, two coasters out. Makes sense.
  6. Yeah, no. They're not going to remove that many coasters in a short time frame. It seems to be a 'Soul for a soul' kind of situation. We lost Son of Beast, Vortex, and Firehawk, and in return we gained Banshee, Mystic Timbers, and Orion. Next one to fall will probably be Invertigo or Bat, demolished shortly before/after whatever goes on The Vortex land opens. And Adventure Express is another park classic, I doubt it goes anywhere any time soon.
  7. We already know what that's going to be, it's the new Jersey Devil Coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure (it has 12 single rows instead of 8 like the normal Raptors). And they're going to build a T-Rex under 200 feet before they go higher.
  8. What about an RMC T-Rex? They're going into production soon.
  9. Oh boy, I'm gonna get trashed for this..... I can see Wicked Twister taking up some of the land freed up by Vortex. Why? Cedar Point has been rumored to be removing WT for a while, and moving it onto The Vortex land would allow them to showcase a new addition while still having enough room for another coaster down the line. Invertigo has been rumored to be on the chopping block for a while now as well. A couple of flats (I'm thinking a clone of Lumberjack from Canada's Wonderland and a unique flat ride of some sorts), Wicked Twister, a restaurant, and (later down the line) a Mack multi-launch would be a perfect use of space.
  10. It's going to be a dive coaster of some kind. Maybe a gerstlauer dive machine like Hangtime. If not that, then an RMC Raptor with advanced capacity like Jersey Devil (that would be nuts). Or..... imagine if they build a B&M floorless coaster on that land with the same layout as Vortex, but without the roughness and maintenance issues.
  11. Just look at all the replies on Twitter and Reddit. Most people aren't surprised and say that it's rough. Not enjoyable. Trust me, I'm upset as much as everyone else on this forum, but this has been coming for a while now. I'm more mad about the fact that there's going to be a giant section of the park left empty. Maybe they put a new restaurant or flat in that space for the time being?
  12. Can't say I'm surprised. Vortex has a pretty bad reputation, and the only time I went to KI the ride was closed on and off all day. That's not okay. Hopefully they don't leave it SBNO.
  13. *meanwhile all roller coaster fans just start Naruto running to Area 51*
  14. A guy on r/rollercoasters is saying that there will be an announcement event on the 14th.
  15. Dang, I never realized that Tomb Raider was an indoor Top-Spin. Always wanted to ride one of those.
  16. I just posted your latest layout (with the blue color scheme) on Reddit, and it's actually making people change their minds about the coaster. Everyone seems to love it! Even if it's short, it'll still have the same impact on attendance as a dive coaster would, and it'll definitely have the better reception among enthusiasts.
  17. I'm going to die on the inside if the lift hill height turns out to be 299 feet. Might start calling this world's first giper (half giga, half hyper).
  18. You gotta be kidding me. Four feet from a 300 foot lift hill. They didn't have enough money for four feet of steel?
  19. There sure as hell won't be a vertical loop, but I could see that "Treble-Clef" going upside-down like a dive loop. I still don't think it's happening though.
  20. I find it funny that everyone is complaining that this coaster is so short when it's longer, taller, and probably faster than all the coasters at Busch Gardens Tampa (my home park). Not to mention that it actually has airtime (none of the coasters I've ridden in Florida have airtime, and I've ridden quite a few). I'd kill to have this down here.
  21. As someone who lives in the Orlando area and goes to those theme parks often, I actually prefer KI over them in most departments. Last time I went to KI (and the only time I went there) was right after Banshee opened, so maybe things have changed since, I don't know. But last time I went to KI I found the services, rides, and food to be excellent. The only thing that was disappointing is that the lines for the rides were somehow longer than the lines I encountered at BGT and Universal.
  22. It came to an end when Banshee opened, imo. Haven't tried Diamondback or Mystic Timbers yet.
  23. Sorry to reply to an old thread, but Kings Island definitely needs another modern looping coaster after the giga. The park currently has four looping coasters: Banshee (fantastic), Vortex (okay), FoF (clone), and Invertigo (clone). Most of the parks major coasters in 2020 will not have an inversion (Giga, Diamondback, Mystic Timbers, Beast, Racer). I'm a fan of airtime moments, but the park will starting to have too much of them. Here's to hoping that a Gestlauer Infinity coaster or a Mack multi-launch is next.
