  1. Yeah that first picture really shows how awesome the drop is going to be. It is definitely going to be amazing going down that hill with the B&M clamshell restraints as long as they don’t staple you in. I can’t wait for the craziness. I actually might be happy they staple me in the first time.
  2. I would love that but feel like another wooden coaster would be just to much. A ground up RMC is one thing and completely different. That is the only way I would say yes if it’s going to be a “wooden” coaster.
  3. No. I don’t think there has been much news about what’s going to happen with Vortex. There has been some speculation I think in this discussion a few pages back.
  4. Not sure how to embed a twitter post but an update from Chad on the webcams. Actually not so much an update but it’s at least something.
  5. I know that. I was saying it was nice to have that as a surprise.
  6. I feel like these pictures perfectly show how much Orion’s drop is near vertical compared to Leviathan’s drop already. I can not wait to see more drop installed and how much of the hill will be 85°. I actually remember most renderings saying that the drop would only be a maximum 80° if I remember correctly I think some said 78° no one thought it would be 85°. Which is kinda nice to know since that is one thing the blueprints didn’t tell us.
  7. Yeah you could be right. I have never ridden the ride but was just passing along the information. When I watched povs they never seemed the same as the one for Orion so That is good to know. I agree I think Orion is going to be an amazing ride.
  8. Someone on reddit mentioned Raging Bull having an overbanked hill. It’s tough to see one on the pov’s so I am not sure how much alike they are. I would say Orion’s is definitely much higher off the ground and maybe even longer than Raging Bulls.
  9. I agree with this and think that was partially the reason they did that. People will think it’s not much bigger than Diamondback let’s ride it. Then comes the drop that you really don’t see. As far as the supports gigas do not have the same supports as B&M hypers so yes it will look different but will still dominate the skyline with all our other 300 ft towers.
  10. I have been looking for one but can not find one so if anyone does find one please post it.
  11. Your right but the issue is KI does have cameras. They made a point to say watch the construction unfold from the camera. Then they restrict access when the greatest part of the ride is being built. I am sorry but that is a problem. That is KI’s problem. They dropped the ball. Are they going to miss out on passes being sold I doubt it. Look at Disney and galaxy edge I saw everywhere that it was a failure because it didn’t have 8 hour waits (I think it was a success) or that they didn’t advertise enough. Now they have a plane wrapped in a galaxy edge advertisement. I am not implying they listened to the criticism but to think that a GIGA coaster is going to sell itself is very foolish. A picture a day on all social media accounts should be the minimum to keep awareness at its highest for Orion. Honestly then with the cameras on once a week. It’s crazy but even the GP enjoys seeing pictures of the coaster being built.
  12. Where is Kings Island Flyover 8/24/2019
  13. It’s not the problem. Not sure who but someone mentioned the eyes in addition to the elevator and spot lights.
  14. I think a new toll booth would definitely help. The new toll booths could become automatic just like KI. This would create fewer employees working the booths so it would free them up to do other things in the park. Granted it might only free up 3 maybe 4 employees but you take what you can get.
  15. I am sorry but that is the craziest thing I have ever heard. First, I loved Firehawk but it was a maintenance nightmare and half the time you went to KI it was down. Orion is a giga coaster I don’t care what anyone else says. The drop is suppose to be 85 degrees and the KI engineers say it could hit 93 mph instead of the listed 91 mph. Spending over 30 million for a coaster like that does not show me they are wanting to sell the park. Let’s not even get into the fact of selling the park to a competitor and building it up to be better than CP they would not want that to happen. As far as Vortex it was a very loved roller coaster. We all see that now but just because it was loved didn’t mean the GP was riding the ride like they use to. We all know the reason for that too becuase it was rough. Do you think Kings Island wanted Vortex to go out like it did I doubt it. I at least want to believe they had no choice but to shut it down. Again though that does not mean they want to sell the park.
  16. My son does not care for roller coasters so we were able to use his for his cousin who went with our older daughters. It was busy and the line was long so they did not think twice. I would assume you will be alright as long as the pass is used to get in the park.
  17. Yeah but it’s one thing to name one ride Batman and Superman. The problem Six Flags has they have different rides named different things. It is not so bad when it is the roller coasters but when it is the flat rides too it just ends up being a little ridiculous. They also need to branch out and use the whole DC brand. There are so many villains and hero’s they need to expand the brand like they did this year with poison ivy.
  18. I agree. I think the only piece that is left is the “last” hill which might have some brakes on the opposite end.
  19. Maybe it is going to pick up the backbone piece. They do not need to use Zeus since it is so big but maybe the other cranes are not strong enough for that piece. Idk?? edit: or not based on @DeviousMrMatt
  20. If I counted correctly it should be the last piece of brake run. The next piece should be the “last” hill that goes into the brake run. Now I am not sure if that piece will also have some brakes on it too.
  21. I want to believe Vekoma is a better company than it use to be. They have done some great things across the world and I would love to see something totally different installed at KI. If we had to get another B&M as our next coaster then a floorless would be my choice. I agree with others on that a wing coaster is not in the cards for KI right now with Cedar Point and holiday world so close. As far as a dive coaster I am not really a fan of the B&M dives. I want something more intense than that. Kings Island going forward needs to focus on variety from a roller coaster stand point we all know KI needs more intense flat rides.
  22. I disagree. I won’t say theming is everything but it is nice to see different sections of park with different types of theming. I hope Cedar Fair continues to do this on some level. It is definitely better than slapping a DC character on the ride.
