  1. Guess it depends how much money he's willing to lose for his state. Every neighboring state is opening theirs including major ones like disney and universal etc. he's going to put himself in a tight spot if he doesn't allow them. It also means Ohioans we'll take their money elsewhere if they so choose because they aren't open. If he wants tax revenue coming back in he's going to have to allow the openings. People will also get more upset by more cuts to their cities etc if he further delays openings. Most city owned pools though allowed, aren't opening because they can't afford it because they are having to replace funds he cut earlier in this crisis.
  2. Watching various peoples vids on universals opening yesterday was nicely organized. I hope all parks follow their lead and create rest areas where you can sit and have your mask off while being socially distant. That's also would help people keep their patience pants on looks like definitely have a snug mask one pair their fell downwards on rip ride rocket. but they didn't separate people on pathways and with limited capacity I don't see a reason to, it's wide enough that you can pass reasonably. If they do reservation system like Dollywood it was easy to navigate and pick time slots. Even with the slamming of their website (again you're just going to need patience) as it did bog down a couple times but didn't hamper getting what we wanted. hope we get good news for Kings Island today and their water park.
  3. I'd hope they'd allow more breathable options. Or breaks where they can take them off like disney is having. I'll be happy to have whatever comes along.
  4. They are being as strict as disney and requiring masks except for water park, water rides and some coasters. On the page also said some experiences won't open right away etc. Also restricting rider capacity and queue lines to keep up the social distancing etc.
  5. Woot reserved for Dollywood booth passholder days!!! Can't wait!!!
  6. I don't see why they'd spend money on those tents likely for temperature screening if they didn't know. Hoping this means I'll hear about my place of employment as zoos theme parks are way bigger than us. I think ki is open enough they can easily divide paths and make them one way etc with crossing points and such. Two more days and we'll see
  7. Interesting I'm wondering why the lack of any news from their other property Dollywood. Not even an extension since that states that year till June 1st 21. They even had permission since Memorial Day to open if they chose to. Maybe they'll say something soon.
  8. Someone's doing something at Diamondbacks water hole as your looking at it right side guy in black jacket was tossing something into the little bit of water there
  9. That I did know, I know it's not meant to handle such a mass load at one time but not wanting to get political that whole system could have been skipped with better stimulus program using the irs system already in place. There had no issues giving the big boys their checks. but that's why I wouldn't blame anyone trying to just put money in their pocket to help themselves get better. edit to add: teenage ninja pointed out is hard to track- my BIL wasn't notified until the dude was tested on the boat and found positive but had spent one day in his barracks. So he had to be tested etc but unlike him who has strict goings and coming on base a reg joe may come into contact with who knows until he was notified if given the same situation. Tracking will be hard especially as things open up more and more.
  10. That's going to be anywhere, especially if the symptoms are mild enough that they think it's just allergies or something else. And I don't blame them, it's clear the systems meant to help aren't in any hurry ( unemployment, 1st stimulus checks etc many still waiting) to actually help. the goal was never to stop it completely just control how fast. So that our healthcare system isn't overwhelmed more than it already is. More people wearing masks would help but that's almost a moot point now.
  11. Just because he hasn't made it public doesn't mean he hasn't given them a estimated date that they could aim for. If they didn't know something was close they wouldn't have bothered starting to testing rides etc. if money is a big concern as people say why waste time and energy starting up rides Unless they have some idea of a start date and doing so might expedite the process a little. pulling from my workplace, no they don't have a specific date but they do have a date range which is allowing them to start putting effort into preparations etc. they have let us know we're close though think it depends how Vegas goes and what materials they can get a hold of. Plexiglas has become quite the commodity lately lol
  12. I think that was a marketing fluke because like ki they sell passes in Aug use now and next year etc. CP gold being sold like that for the first time just asked for it imo. Also due to their 150th etc made it even more of a hot item. They just didn't expect that people would be so gung ho to go there and overwhelmed the place. a reservation system would help that initial opening but it's been hit or miss of people rushing to congregate. With the thought of requirement of masks or longer wait times etc is enough to keep many away to not deal with the hassle. But then again many swarmed beaches etc at least at ki it's fairly open that you can get around and not be up peoples Space especially with controlled capacity. i bet it'll be mid June to July 1st. Unfortunately they need the tax revenue to start coming back in or our cities will receive more cuts than they already have and then things will close permanently. Many city pools aren't opening more due to budget than health. Trying to recoup or save to budget things in the fall like leaf collection schools stuff etc. Miamisburg admitted theirs reason was due to budget. here's hoping for some good news this week.
  13. I guess the states surrounding each other abandoned the work together plan. I thought originally they were going to phase open in similar fashions otherwise your asking for extra travel. Example Indiana opening holiday world etc but Ohio keeping cp and ki closed unintentionally entice people to go where things are open. Because people are going to do what they're going to do. If cp and ki opened similar time might encourage people to stay more local. It seems every state is on their own, Kentucky is still pretty locked down while Ohio is on phase 2 heading towards 3, TN is pretty much open no capacity restrictions; left up to each business to decide what beyond the guidelines to enforce etc, except Dollywood, Indiana seems to be at 3 with holiday world etc ready to open next week in June. The thing is there will always be new viruses; the flu strains mutate so much that there's still a heavy flu load even with vaccines. Every time a new strain evolves it's going to do what nature does and it will affect the weaker parties worse than the healthy. Nobody wants grandma or sister who has asthma to go so I'd hope they take the right precautions for them. The scary part is that it's likely to have hit us earlier than what was originally said because testing really didn't start till it became an obvious issue and still late to the game. They have traced cases here back to December and beyond before we even knew what we were looking at. And until testing is readily avail and free week never know for sure. I'd love piece of mind but I don't have 65$ to spare to see if I might have antibodies already. Maybe once in back at work but not atm. it'll be interesting to see how universal goes. disney will take longer because they are way bigger in size and scale of operations so it's no surprise to see universal and probably sea world and bush gardens open before disney does. But they will and it'll be their rules until things calm down or better treatments come out. hint for masks on hot days: material is everything- light tight cotton or a tight spandex will be cooler than flannel woven Or multiple layers etc. Personal experience I have pretty strong sneezes and sputum and I tried my various cloth masks including a single layer light cotton Lycra mix and it really did keep it in. Paper towels stayed dry right in front of my face only the mask in between. Thanks to allergies I could test lol So there is options if hesitant about the heat etc.
  14. True but I don't know many motorcyclists that dive down 80+ degree decline hills but anything form fitting should stay id think.
  15. I'd imagine like anything else one group/family at a time and a disinfectant spray in between. I haven't been on in years could it be done so like groups alternate levels? So to separate people one goes to the bottom layer and the other the top. Split the queue to let people know which level they are in line for?
  16. I want that notice lol if I can't squeeze the life out of my hubs hand while climbing Diamondbacks first hill then I'll have to either grow a pair or ride later LOLOL I'm curious what they find with testing masks on coasters, it seemed they stayed on ok on tron from the videos of Shanghai. Would be nice to know which ones/styles they found working. People wear glasses with or without tie backs. I'd ki needs testers im local!
  17. Disney has no problem trespassing or kicking out people who don't follow their rules. If you refuse to change a vulgar t shirt or wear inside out or try to constantly wear a bikini bra as a top they will excuse you from the grounds. They (Florida mainly)(Disneyland falls under Anaheim) have the advantage no other amusement parks have that I know of and that is they are their own city. Incorporated as Reedy Creek they have their own police and fire rescue and can enforce their policies without having to involve outside police except for cases that involve bigger matters. Cf has security sure but they can't trespass as easily as they would have to involve mason police etc and mason police won't classify whiny people breaking rules as priority. I'm sure they kick out unruly guests when they can etc but as things open up it's just going to be what it is. We participated in the re opening of the flea market in Monroe and surprisingly more people than not wore masks, albeit some shouldn't have bothered since they wore them incorrectly. But attempt counts right lol 6ft thing is kinda a miss except for actual lines so queues might not be so bad but wandering around people kinda still pass in smaller herds but people walk in different paces so you might get closer than 6ft passing. It's all going to boil down to individual comfort levels.
  18. None of those options really include pass holders. The first option would be hard because if the number heading out doesn't match or greater than the next hourly incoming wave then what? Are they going to force people out to let new ones in? the splitting half and half same problem. The would need at least an hour in between to sweep and clear the previous group out of they're trying to keep numbers correct. i think silver woods system would do well. Those with passes and x number of tickets sold by said date are automatically reserved for every day. now here's where they can take a gamble: statistically not every pass or pre bought ticket is going to show up on any given day probably half or less. Just for ease of example say the limits 15,000. They could in theory reserve 5000 to cover pass holders 2500 to pre sold tickets to allow them to come as they please still, then it's a reservation free for all to day of tickets for the other 7500. I'm sure the number gurus can figure out the risk ratio to make sure they get a good amount of ticket sales to make profit etc and still keep it available to pass holders.
  19. Knotts could be the exception as California especially la county and I'd imagine Orange County extending their orders longer than other states because of how much more densely populated they are. Might be the last to open compared to other states parks.
  20. Oic not having a six flags near I Never really looked at their site before. Thanks
  21. What does top tier mean? Who would be above passholder? Not that the order is bad I just don't know what classifies top tier.
  22. True I found more selection at old navy online, but not in a sports style for women that I like. But yes my hubby has good luck finding them at kohl's or getting them as gifts. But we haven't looked in awhile for him since he all had a few pairs. Best pair I found was at disney years ago. They were discounted for ink marks but they had zipper pockets, zipper side pockets and the pants legs unzipped to turn into knee length shorts. The material was super light weight and dried quickly great for water rides. I wish I could have a million of those pants
  23. Yes we like pools but got one for the home this year because we weren't sure what would happen this summer. We really want to keep her confidence up she has just passed her first swim class when everything shut down but her water confidence really grew from ki water park to swim lessons last year. Before that we could barely get her to swim in a hotel pool without either deathgrip on us or just hanging at the stairs been watching TN a lot and we're keeping our vaca the first full week of June. a couple of their water parks are open or opening soon. One is an outdoor one already open with their inside part opening next month. And a huge one opening later in June due to not quite completed construction yet. Be interesting to see. IMO though this is our first time having Dollywood passes, the fact they only extended till a specific date of June 1st next year makes me think they will be opening June 1 or close to it. But I'm sure extensions are easy to do if it doesn't happen but where other parks just automatically extended through2021, giving us whatever we may get out of this season and next, they didn't. to those wondering about carrying things- I'm making cufflet wrist wallets that are big enough for cash cards and an iPhone. What are your thoughts About something like that? I was thinking it would allow my hubby and me to marathon ( well the next time that's allowed) without lockers etc. finding zipper pockets on girl shorts in fluffier sizes is either super expensive or ugly lol! Either that or I'm going to make my own zipper pocket shorts specifically to ditch the bag!
  24. The CDC states there's no connection or concern for pools and water parks. It's the social distancing that's the tough one. But both the bromine and chlorine nullify covid among other viruses. The only one that seems to outlast is intestinal I could see the wave pools closed but slides etc open as most you could in theory wear masks depending on n materials, people wear glasses etc. unsure on the speed slides as I don't ride those tall wedgie making slides lol XD
  25. Correct they'd be better off renting to use an already built system than trying to do in house from scratch. Though the general info structure might be shareable to allow parks to build to their particular needs. The system structure is already proven hence disney but it requires a magic band like tracker to really work and that tech is probably copyrighted specifically to disney etc. honestly It would be nice to let them use the hand me down fast pass paper system. Each ride prints you a specific time frame ticket and that's your window to ride. It's set no tech malfunctions. Besides a paper jam I guess lol In theory ki could literally print a set amount of time tickets to hand out. For major rides I mean. You go by estimated capacity per hour and that's the amount handed out. Example(I know nothing of true numbers just making an example) Orion:8 cars by4 so 32 a train times 3 trains = 96 people. Give or take roughly 5 min cycle ( more or less if having to spray or wipe In between each go etc) from load to end run brakes. That roughly 12 trains per hour =roughly 400 riders per hour. With the limits etc they could print 250 tickets for each hour then to allow for distance in queues etc. In theory you would be able to go around to each ride collect a time ticket and then your set for distancing and riding. With lower capacity and reservations etc they could have extras to pass out if the lines are low or let people enter etc. I'm sure they'll figure something out but lower capacity wouldn't necessarily impact most rides they'd be controlled by the front person just like they check heights test seats etc so they could just limit with a clicker counter how many they let into line and a radio to the exit how many left etc. most of their queues are easily visible to how many are in there etc so limiting shouldn't be too big an issue and use the counter system for out of sight queues like FoF etc. Walmart and Lowe's figured out A way to count control on a handheld unit I'm sure ki can come up with something similar.
