  1. 200 pages of complaints and complements.

That exhibits how things fell apart during the Paramount days. This is just a reminder that it takes some time to turn around the mistakes that Paramount made. Gotta have faith that CF will do it. But, Rome (not Rome, GA) was not built in a day. Now in the years I was a supervisor at the park, I could count on one hand the number of complaints that my operation would receive in a given season. Not that I was a perfect manager but I'd say that it would be the same of any supervisor in the park. I can not imagine any manager keeping their position with the receipt of that amount of complaints. Now we would get a few complements attributed to an employee each week. Those employees would get Apple Cards from Guest Relations.

That was for the entire department, not just one location...thats why I said managers. Again they were compliments and complaints. I kept my position because I personally did not receive a "receipt" of that amount of complaints. We too corrected our complaints and responded to serious ones and disciplined when necessary. We also rewarded our associates with Star Cards which allowed them to purchase items when they collected enough points....not sure what an apple card was used for,but that was an era when I was a kid. I kept my position due to several personal accomplishments that I achieved at the park and am proud to have worked under the Paramount name (if you would like to know those accomplishments I would be more than happy to send you a message). I still enjoy Kings Island regardless of who's name is on the sign and agree with you that Kings Island will continue to prosper as a great amusement park not for the namesake but because of the associates who make the job fun and enjoy it. There will always be a few that will not cut it in such a customer service based industry, and will eventually be weeded out. I still see people working at the park that used to work for me and have now become managers and full-time managers. Thats what makes the park so great.

  2. As a former area manager in the park during the Paramount era I can say you will most likely not receive a response from the park. Again I'm speaking in terms of the good ol' Paramount days. When we (managers) would get these complaints it would usually get to us at the end of the week and consist of about 200 pages of complaints and compliments and that was just my department. Issues like the one you had would be addressed with the crew and supervisors and since it was resolved on the associate level and really didn't require the need of a manager will be considered dealt with. Like some have said on here already Kings Island employs 15yr olds and up. Some who have never had a job. You cannot go there and expect not to have little mistakes like that, and I would not see the purpose of calling a manager to that location and waiting for one to arrive when the situation was resolved. Move on and enjoy your day. It just seems like time can be better spent in the park rather than revolving your day around a problem that was corrected.

  3. ucattitude, thanks for the insight. I always love hearing stories from former employees. Was KCKC paired with any other ride crews? Is it true that when you guys used to rotate to different positions that someone would ride the boat up, get in the tower, then the person they replaced would ride it down?

We were not paired with any crew when I worked there. As for riding boats up and getting out and switching up in the tower (chute)...yes we did, and now that I look back at that I think wow we were dumb....lol. I have lots of stories about my years at KI, I worked at the park until the end of the 05' season (final year under Paramount ownership). I loved working at the park and miss it very much.

  4. I worked at KCKC from 96' - part of 98' season, we called it "flop" because of the downtime. At one point during one of my summers it would break down everyday around 4 - o'clock because the sun would F-up the photo eye sensors before the drop, thus causing downtime (at least thats what maintenance told us). A lot of good memories spent on that ride though.

  5. How can PKI continuely claim to be a theme park I don't seem to recall crappy upkeep at CP, why can't PKI seem to do this? The only major problem I see at CP is that they need a better kids' area.

Do you know the definition of theme park?.

and CP is not perfect on up keep. In fact PKI's themed areas are great, but the visitors are to blame, because of the constant vandalism. I can't tell you how many holes I've seen patched up in FOF's building. I'm sure there is countless other places where vandalism happens. Upkeep would be better if there were no vandals, but that will never happen.............again, do you know the definition of theme park?
