That is one Six Flags park that I am hoping to get to soon.  I have been to SFMM, SFoG, Six Flags St. Louis, and Six Flags Great Adventure.

I would say enjoy the park.  Six Flags parks are definitely different than Cedar Fair parks.  This park has a great collection of rides.  I am sure there is someone on here that has been to the park and can offer some better insights.

You will have to let us know what you think of the park once you make it there!

We went 2 years ago and thought it was the most un Six Flags park we had been to.  What I mean by that is the ride ops were good, the food wasn't bad, the park looked good and the employees seemed to care.  Needless to say we were very impressed and had a great day.

There are more coasters there than you might think at first.  The original Batman the Ride was great, Joker is pretty unique, X-flight is my second favorite wing coaster after Thunderbird.  The wooden racing coaster was the surprise for me.  It was lots of fun.  Raging Bull has gotten lots of hate but i thought it was a smooth, powerful and fun ride, just a little light on the airtime.  Also Whizzer was very unique and a great family ride.  The park does have several clones they they are all fun rides.

We stayed at a hotel across the street.  It looked like you could walk to the park if you wanted.  Also at the same highway exit is a Giordano's pizza so you cant go wrong there!  Just time your drive to avoid Chicago rush hour traffic.  Its awful.

    Have a great time!

I went about a month ago and really liked that park. We went in and went to the left for we thought the B&M flyer would get a long line and have slow loading times like Firehawk, and that was not the case. Good load times and throughput.

If I were to do that trip over, I would have went to the right first and rode Maxx Force first. Do ride their Kiddie coasters for they are good too. Whizzer was a lot of fun and a don't miss.

    Have fun!

thank you all very much!! really appreciate it.

Not sure if Vortex ever utilized the under station switchbacks.

Bat Construction - Shows the under station queue house (notice how originally you were forced to go all the way to the bottom level before station level.)

Vortex Construction 1987 - Switchbacks appear to be there.

Where did you find these photos at those are so cool!

I made a petition to try and make this not happen.

Not to pop your bubble or anything but a petition isnt going to do anything. Like the one for the Coney Island rides. It's the fact if this does happen which i hope it DOES NOT. There is nothing we can do about it besides sit back and watch our beautiful park come tumbling down. :(

To me it seems way to early for us to get another coaster that soon after Orion, but considering the timing of Vortex's demise this is the only way I can see it all making sense. If the next ride doesn't come until 2023 then the land sits for a year when Vortex could have operated.

See im trying to wrap my head around that too, but we get stuff typically pretty fast. More than other Cedar Fair parks do and imo thats good! I am super sad to see that thing go. But that will open that land up and Coney Mall is changing for the future. I think we will get something for our 50th, might not be a coaster but we typically get some kind of upgrade each year. (we need a new parking lot) lol

  5. Let me put my 2 cents into this. Think about it whenever Ki gets rid of a "Major attractions" they typically put one if not better in its place. I am so sad about this. I really am, i personally love Vortex! Its a great ride. But think we are getting Orion in 2020, this will open this land up for 2022 for Ki's 50th, might not be big but im sure we will get something. I think the land will sit vacant for a year or two then we will start to see something. Thoughts??

It likely won't be as big. Banshee's plaza was already large before Banshee since AZ was already a circle sharing multiple rides. Area 72 will likely be like it is now, but spruced up with new ground/pavers and some theming. Plus the entrance to Orion.

Awesome thanks, sorry im new to this site. I love Ki been going for 30 plus years!!
