  1. That hill looks like the greatest thing ever(besides The Beast)! Then it traversing down the whole hillside? I think the shortness is gonna be a good thing too. I don't want it running out of steam trying to do every last element and all that. So the length is fine to me too. And I am superfine with the height. The steepness is gonna be very very intimidating! Man I hope its topped off today or tomorrow too!
  2. I bet we get a stop action later so its not the end of the world IMO.
  3. Agree. Another thing not totally noted by anyone: the landscape goes lower and lower all the way to the turnaround, Before making its way kinda up and back. So its gonna be absolutely hauling and at its fastest all the way at the turn possibly. I think that's where it could hit 94-95 on a good day hopefully.
  4. This is both triumphant and glorious.
  5. Reviving this thread. I'll put my story on it tomorrow or the following day. Seeing a concert tonight and just no time. But suffice to say, I believe The Beast to be the greatest coaster in world history. Without The Beast, no other world-class coasters that we know of really. No Boulder Dash or Ravine Flyer 2. No Voyage or Steel Dragon. None of them. No GCI. No Mystic Timbers. Anyway, beyond that I can think of or find at least a hundred reasons beyond pure ride experience why its the best. As far as pure ride experience, I LOVE that it isn't an ADD (No offense to anyone with this disorder for real!!) rollercoaster throwing elements out left and right. Nope. I LOVE that its hills aren't steep at all really so you gets this very real sense of increasing speed and momentum. I'm still surprised to this day when I go down the first hill at how slow it starts and how fast its screaming by the end. Not too many coasters do that. I adore going through the ground so that you only realize how fast you are hauling when you leave the tunnel. I adore how the speed picks up before the Helix and my favorite is the slam when you hit the helix. I still get kinda scared about it over and over and have ridden it hundreds of times easily. The whole ride picks up speed and gets better and better and better. It never gets worse for a single second IMO. All other coasters seem like they are trying hard to do all these things, and I love and appreciate them all. But The Beast never tried to do that. If it did it would take away momentum and make the ride lose steam slowly as most airtime coasters do. Smoking is bad for you; but, The Beast is Keith Richards with a cigarette dangling precariously from his lip with a low-slung guitar playing Gimme Shelter. It's timeless and will always ride good. Generation after Generation. None of these upstarts can say that and they are all Johnny Depp trying to be Keith Richards in his portrayal of Captain Sparrow. Beast doesn't even have to try and is still cooler. The Beast is the Roller Coaster experience of a runaway minecar boiled down to its purest expression. It is the Elixer...the Philosopher's Stone of Coasters. I would't be surprised if The Beast is depicted in the great Pyramid. I can't decide which is more significant of a South-West Ohio landmark: the Serpent Mound or The Beast? I could go on...
  6. RMC #2 to Gemini before removal! Iron Dragon's fate would seem to be tied to Rugarou's I guess. And maybe to The Bat's as well?
  7. Agree....but if they are clowning us....its an amusement park after all (Maybe we should provide Kings Island and the construction crew with some amusement for once! LOL), then that would be so great too. Heck I was watching the vid feed while I was on a mini vacation in Chicago! I loved it! But a good clowning....priceless!
  8. Absolutely. Although I think they are hiding something else perhaps. Nothing big but something maybe.
  9. I kinda hope its literally timed at the exact same time so as to troll everybody!
  10. Pardon my ignorance but what is KIC?
  11. How many more Coasters does Cedar Point really need? Seems they need stuff more for family and logistical things first. I couldn't do every CP coaster in a day and there are so many it makes marathoning tougher. They kinda need another wood one. I wouldn't go nuts there if I was them. I'd want guests to consider traveling across state to use both parks on one vacation, meaning there should be some differentiation. So a small, good GCI would make sense. But if they do that, I think they should add another to KI to make a person want to do both parks. I guess Orion may not do that to someone who just rode Millie. So the next one at KI that goes where Vortex is, needs to really stand out from anything that CP has to offer. IMO.
  12. We're No 10. We're no 10. W're no 10. Tomorrow should be a big day. That or the Tues-Wed should be the big moment.
  13. Either Son of Beast or Backwards Racer. SoB gets the edge though
  14. Been watching the RMC Raptors and they look pretty cool, but they seem kinda cute. They seem a little short and they don't look as amazing as the other RMCs to me, but surely there is some potential. Kings Island might want to wait until some of that potential is realized. I think they are doing that with Orion as B & M has likely learned on every Giga they make. They would do that on a regular RMC too by waiting until now or soonish. The RMS Raptor, though, to me looks like something that isn't visually breathtaking, like the thing I'd put where Vortex is. Raptors do, however, look really cool and hip and modern. Seems a Raptor should go near Banshee and ideally would take Invertigo and or some of the surrounding area. Vortex's spot needs a big piece of framework and to look imposing and cool. Wood or RMC works best there as I have said too much now. I love a dive or Raptor, but not at the expense of a RMC ground up. Put the RMC Raptor at front when Invetigo goes. It's the perfect spot. Or in that area, along with a Dive coaster. Of course, that's asking a lot, when they are installing a giga as I speak. And I am super hyped on it. But something needs to replace Vortex.
  15. I'm all aboard the RMC train for sure. If they put it where Vortex is, it'd look great too. Something like Twisted Timbers would put KI over the Top.
  16. Also...I wonder if the price of steel will effect whether or not more wood ones get built the next little while. I would think so.
  17. That is a technicality though. Looking at top 50 wooden roller coasters lists, which are subjective of course, you find at least 2 parks with 3 wood entries. And there is Kings Island with 2. I am fine with an RMC that doesn't count as wood though. But Knoebels has Phoneix which often ranks in the top 3-4 on Wooden and has lately been #1, Flying Turns and Twister all ranking on top 50 wood lists. Holiday World has Voyage often ranking 1-2, Raven and Legend. And while Dollywood, like Kings Island, has 2, they rank very high with Lightning Rod and Thunderhead. We usually get Beast and Mystic Timbers on these lists. But 2 parks offer more highly rated wood coasters and that seems easily rectified is all I am saying. Not sure if that is the way they would go either though. I think an RMC, again, is possible.
  18. It's be a Chinese one that'd beat it. I look at it in numbers though. Dollywood and Holiday World have 2 world class Wooden ones, as does Kings Island.
  19. On the other hand with just one more wooden coaster, KI would distinguish itself above all other parks in the world for something. With a pretty small investment, we'd be the number 1 wood coaster destination in the entire world. And IF I were to put another wood coaster anywhere in a park to distinguish itself as THE wooden coaster capital of the world, it'd be between The Racer and The Beast, two if the most storied roller coaster ever, particularly wood. Right in a row would be Racer, New one, Beast and Mystic Timbers. That'd be insane and so cool and if a wood coaster should go anywhere...rivertown or next to it makes sense. Its a thought anyway. Cedar Fair would own in the same state, the number 1 coaster capital in the world, the one that only needs wooden ones, which can be found at its other park in the same state! Makes sense to me. But I am weird.
  20. I miss the screamin' Eagles! I loved that ride. I know its at Cedar Point and renamed and painted...I think? So that helps, but that was always a fave of mine. edit: also dug the Zephyr.
  21. I'll get a decade long fast pass...I promise Kings Island ...if they do that RMC. It's make my year whenever it happens.
  22. I need to add something. I had been luggin my wife around to Kings Island and Cedar Point this season. My wife tried a few and liked a few and hated a few. She absolutely hated Magnum XL and Raptor. Those finished her off at Cedar Point. She only really liked Gemini there. She liked Beast but wouldn't even try any other rides. Two rides have brought into now holding her hands up and keeping her eyes open on Diamondback. Those rides are Stunt Coaster and even more so Flight of Fear. Since Flight of Fear she has ridden them all. On the coaster pics, her eyes were closed and she looked terrified, but did it because I love roller coasters. Flight of Fear was gateway drug, if you will, to opening her eyes and all that. She loves Banshee now! So I owe Flight of Fear and for what it did, it makes it one of my all-time favorite roller coasters. Plus I've ridden it tons and probably laugh during 80% of that on-ride time.
  23. Personal opinion time again! So Fury 325 cost 30 million, not including some taxpayer money for some land. I figure to build a clone would have cost 40 million with the cost of steel and inflation from the time Fury 325 was built, and to beat it would be over 40 mil. We know they spent about 25 million on Banshee. I am of the opinion they calculated a few things: They would need something to replace Vortex and something great. In the meantime build the Giga but save money on trying to beat Fury as that would cost way too much $ for the return it gives. Going 93 and doing it in style would be great. Mako gets reviews that are as glowing as Diamonback even though its shorter and not as tall or as fast. But it maximizes some things.I think B & M learned something there and can save KI some money doing a GIGA mako basically. I am hopeful this is along those lines. So anyway, save that 10-15 million, add in some extra money generated from the new Giga and follow up with an RMC (My obvious hope) to beat Iron Gwazi...or at least get another Twisted TImbers type. I think Cedar Fair wants more RMCS. So I think this is a great investment and trying to beat Fury, Millennium or the others would cost way too much and would hurt the next coaster investment fund.
