  1. I hear the engineers think Orion may go 92-93 mph. Either way its splitting hairs. They both should be great.
  2. Orion Drop>Fury 325 Drop But I am super biased. Slightly steeper into the ravine and right next to the ground. the 25 feet will be moot at that ravine/ ground point I think/hope. Plus slightly steeper
  3. I'm jonesin for some Coaster construction! My hands are shakey, my mind is cloudy....I've got Camera Off-line Fever! And they say there is only one cure: web cams back on line!
  4. I love it and its one of my wife's favorites. My only problem with it, it its not great-looking from the outside...I wish there was a better way to make it look there. But the ride itself is great. Roller coasters can get a little rough.I love that, but some people don't and I am 43...so at some point the rough ones may not be as ridable for me as they are now.
  5. Sounds like the future of roller coasters is...drumroll....wooden ones!? I like this. Steel...keep on going up baby! Not sure if coasters will get a whole lot bigger either....maybe 400' sometime?.
  6. I definitely hope its not Adventure Express! It's a great night ride and a great kids ride. The line at night is laughably long so it helps a ton during Haunt. I think its a great night ride and one of the better mine rides around. Invertigo is OK. The Bat isn't great but isn't bad. I would like to see it go if and when they another big(ish) coaster near Banshee which kinda sits by itself. The only thing really going for Invertigo is its a relatively small ride. But I would take that out along with the water ride next to it and put a coaster along that edge. Flight of Fear shouldn't even be considered. Its a great ride, if a little ugly on the exterior. Backlot Stunt Coaster is a good ride too. Don't get rid of it...if anything move it if possible. But I enjoy that one. Its a little unsightly, but the fire on it works great during haunt! And its just fun with a lot of laughter throughout the ride.
  7. The pilot can avoid WindSeeker and blast straight into Orion then. Seems they would both need it, but I know nothing.
  8. Man...put that anywhere but a parking lot and it would look so much better. Still....I'd love to try that one out. 50 mil?? Wow!
  9. I think I like Millennium's just a bit more than Steel Dragon's which is awesome too. That being said, I think the B & M ones are super cool and more park friendly as they can straddle things as is the case with Diamondback. Nothing can go beneath Millie or Steel Dragon. But they looks cool lit up, so I do slightly prefer them.
  10. As an ambitious and defective mess it betters the original Bat. And its the only woodie that we have taken down while the orginal Bat, King Cobra, Screamin Demon, Vortex, and Firehawk are all gone now. I don't think we get another wood unless its an RMC though. At least for awhile. I do think the RMC is very possible though, but I could be totally in denial. Then again, I can just go to other parks to ride RMCs.
  11. I am 100% team RMC if that hasn't become blatant yet. Or another woodie. They seem to last awhile! Then again SoB? But still...
  12. I haven't been to a ton of places. And I am gonna lean on ones that have earned it over time. Steel Vengeance won't be my number one though it could be after 10 years of re-riding it, as well as my other favorites. Also, a ride with a storied history that has influenced other rides and designers will be taken into account. 10 GateKeeper Cool first hill inversion. This spot, I could easily put Space Mountain but really don't remember it too well, or Raptor, or Flight of Fear or Vortex for its history and I always loved it. Maverick was down when we went. Adventure Express at night is pretty great. Obviously I need to try more parks, and will this year. 9 Racers Rode it nearly 30 times in a day when I was a teen. Started the whole coaster trend and is the reason The Beast was built. Likely had something to do with the Ohio Player's song Love Roller Coaster, and definitely was in the Brady Bunch. Just a classic that I always enjoy myself on. The whole thing feels like Caddyshack or something. If it had the backwards racer still, I would rank it higher. I LOVE the backwards racer. 8 Diamondback Great ride in back. Love the first 3 hills and its just a lot of fun over the tree line at the park. 7 Magnum XL2000 Its history puts it ahead of Diamondback which I probably like a little better , but really like then both so whats the difference really? 6 Banshee Love the first drop and the whole thing. A lot of coaster critics like to bag on this but IMO its the perfect counterpoint to Diamondback and soon Orion. 5 Son of Beast RIP LOVED you!!!! 4 Mystic Timbers: I freaking love this ride! I would die if we added more woodies like this one as well. Just a fantastic ride that leaves me wanting more and more. 3 Millenium Force Hoping Orion beats it or at least is as good. Thinking that is very very possible. 2 Steel Vengeance: The Real deal. Pure fun and laughter and an unbelievable first drop. I am desperate for Kings Island to get one that beats Iron Gwazi and thus is one of best coasters in the world. Sorry I love throwing that out there! 1. The Beast: Great ride that has influenced all other wood coasters for the better for all of us. Has an awesomely vicious ride that focuses on speed. Night Rides on this thing are so good that you can't believe it. I also think it has THE greatest line and station ever. I love the double helix and the sheer violence of it. I love that it gets faster and faster and faster without trying to do a whole bunch of elements. A lot of these rides and the way Roller coaster critics come off is kinda like a gymnastics routine where you have to do all the elements. I love RMCs and all these rides, but I love that The Beast just focuses on woods and speed and has been doing it before most coaster were even though of. I LOVE this ride and always will.
  13. Yeah we moved to a new neighborhood that has tons of kids so we were all fired up for trick or treat. I'm bummed about the weather for everyone who enjoys it. We usually hang with my parents and play spooky music and adult cider while enjoying the kids and scene. Double bummer that it effects the roller coaster!
  14. No doubt about it!!! That thing is begging to be photo'd at night!
  15. I worded it kind of funny...it will go below the base support of the hill. The drop will be longer than the lift hill and come very very close to the ground, which is 15 feet or so below the base supports of said hill. That should feel really cool IMO. I wonder if the angle of the lift hill is the same as Orion's belt? It seems kind of possible, depending on the time of year and where Orion is located. But when I saw it from The Beast lift hill, the constellation that is, the belt and hill may well coordinate a little bit.
  16. It will be a steeper angle than Fury, and then go under what should be the ground going into the ravine, and then coming very very close to the ground at the bottom, only to come up on a huge hill sideways. That alone should be as exhilarating as Fury or any coaster. And I like the idea that a coaster leaves you wanting more. We have the coaster that gives you 110% with The Beast, and kind of Banshee too. This one will leave you wanting to re-ride it again and again.
  17. This one is gonna be epic! I think it will be the best...simply because its at Kings Island. But more than that, I think they know better and better each time how to get the airtime and speed elements better under a certain budget.
  18. Hearing about the original crew being there for the last ride made me quite emotional. I suppose the loss of time is what hurts a lot here. Its still just sad. My first real roller coaster.
  19. I figured that based on that last 2 posts. Plus the weather is turning out beautiful.
  20. Thats great to hear for Vortex's last day though!
  21. I may leave enough alone. I think I had been 3 of the past 4 weeks anyway. I just thought the trees and coaster would be sweet but was hoping it'd be walk-on. Glad business is good though. I still could change my mind I guess.
  22. Now I wish these cameras were up if for no other reason than to see how busy it is today...I'm thinking of creeping down as I need to go to Ikea as well for a cheap bookcase.
  23. A fast pass at Cedar Point is almost a must if you really want to ride Vengeance on a good day. Makes me think to make some more $, an RMC isn't a bad idea at all. I guess I just want one at KI so I don't feel the need to go ride all the RMCs somewhat close by (Vengeance, Lightning Rod, Goliath, Storm Chaser, or even Iron Gwazi temptation)
  24. I'm thinking of going today. Any word on lines? I see DB is closed. That obviously sucks. Want to go for some last rides on Vortex Beast and Mystic Timbers and would've loved to toss in some DB. Banshee would get rode too if I can ride The Bat...haven't rode that in the past 6 visits but did ride it once this season.
  25. A Matterhorn type ride would be quite welcome here. I always loved that ride.
