  1. Last time I checked, KI wasn’t the FAA and couldn’t restrict airspace. People have done it before. I’m sure they will again.
  2. Airplane over the park, a drone, or just task a satellite. Many ways to see what is really going on.
  3. The current rides definitely help it out. When AZ became a thing was under Paramount, when they added TG and DZ and renamed the coaster everyone loves and hates to Face/Off. I remember the water tower. When it was AZ in the late 90s and early 2000s it worked. It just doesn’t anymore. A forest theming would be good. There are some trees. More could be added. They could also add in fake trees to help fill in the gaps until real trees can grow in. Banshee and Bat fit fine. Not sure how Delirium fits that. Congo falls is a stretch, Invertigo is completely wrong in color and name. That would have to change. DZ could easily become some kind of large tree themed ride. I think I would name it something like The Forest. It doesn’t have to be only one type of forest, it could be several different ones and it would still fit the Oktoberfest theme just fine.
  4. We haven’t seen that in any of the pictures yet. I’m sure there is more than 1 way to do this. You can’t see any metal sticking out from the middle of the new concrete roadway.
  5. I remember this. GAK = Games and Kids
  6. I think you are right. It’s adding back in a trip hazard and unnecessarily narrowing things down. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  7. Aren’t there a bunch of service roads back there? That see,s to me to be a bigger issue than the paths and terrain.
  8. Which picture shows the pedestals being painted? They look like rusted crap to me.
  9. I think the fountain change will help immensely during winterfest. Larger ice rink without fountains in the middle of it.
  10. Pathways that cycle back onto themselves don’t fix the problem. More pathways just makes it more confusing and makes people mad when the pathways aren’t direct. AZ’s problem is what it always is. Lots of thrill rides concentrated in one area. Everyone wants to be there. I truly believe Cedar Fair realized this to be a problem when they bought KI. I think Firehawk was a holdover until they could really spend the time and money needed for X Base. Diamondback went into Rivertown, MT Rivertown, WindSeeker Coney Mall, Banshee into AZ after SoB removal. Cars back into Coney Mall. I think there is an overall plan here, I just think that’s a close secret. I wouldn’t be shocked if at some point an all new area made an appearance. The existing areas are quickly becoming fully developed, if not already.
  11. In the exact opposite thought, that’s all minor. The biggest issue is dealing with the guests. You don’t want everyone concentrated into one area. AZ was miserable when I was younger and it had SoB and everything else jammed back there. It wasn’t comfortable or fun, because of the amount of people. It’s a much better plan to diversify your park and spread the crowd around. X-base needs the development to turn it into its own area. There are 3 coasters in AZ, 3 in Rivertown, 3 in Coney Mall, 1 in Octoberfest and 1 in X-base. You can’t expand Octoberfest, but X-base is prime for development. A nice new coaster, amenities, concessions and maybe a flat or two and you have a whole other area that’s been decidedly underdeveloped and underused since it was built.
  12. There’s already a topic about this and plenty of pictures. Firehawk Leaving Kings Island 10/28/18 https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_fid=71075&share_tid=33930&url=https%3A%2F%2Fkicentral%2Ecom%2Fforums%2Finterface%2Fmobiquo%2Ephp%2Findex%2Ephp%3F%2Ftopic%2F33930-Firehawk-Leaving-Kings-Island-10-28-18&share_type=t
  13. Maybe... maybe not. You never know how EPA will react. This would give it a ton of length. We need both wood and steel length records... just because...
  14. Taller I don’t mind. Faster isn’t completely necessary. Using the natural terrain as many of our coasters do, would be great. How about a sweeping turn over the river?
  15. The million dollar question in my mind is, do they stop at the concrete piers, or do they bring in bulldozers to completely clear the lot? If they clear the lot, do they move any dirt beyond it? If they start terraforming, the writing will be on the wall.
  16. So much for any chance of it going elsewhere. Trackhoe means demolition. I suspect they are cutting track pieces from the manlift and pulling it down. Here comes scrap metal...
  17. I doubt KI is going to remove the show building anytime soon. They do use it from time to time.
  18. As long as it’s for functional movement, I’m ok with this. Behind the Eiffel Tower and setup to help people get from one place to another is good. Say from X-Base/Racer across the other side of the park towards MT/KI-MVRR
  19. Anyone know if there’s a discount for bringing your boat to Coney Islands Nights of Lights? Asking for a friend... But seriously, how long does it take to remove all that stuff in an emergency/natural disaster?
  20. Results are in and KI Winterfest took #2 spot! I consider that a huge win for the park! https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog/2018/december/winterfest-voted-one-of-the-best-theme-park-holiday-events-in-the-country
  21. I was. Here’s what I used: The tower is 315’ tall so 300’. Your zip line is the hypotenuse of a right triangle, if the tower is one leg and the fountains another.
  22. SoB’s demise, was when PKI opted to do the math in-house and fire the designers. That’s not the case here. You are talking about the hypotenuse of a right angle triangle. That’s easy high school math. When you measure something by hand and then measure it in an app and compare the two results and they’re the same, then you know you can use that in the future as an acceptable option. It’s hard to argue against the facts.
  23. Very Steep. Per measure map, the front edge of the fountains is 500’ to the base of the tower. Pythagorean theorem makes the hypotenuse length somewhere close to 584’ using 300’ of height. Throwing 300 & 500 into rise/run calculator makes the angle somewhere around 31 degrees. Percentage grade is 60%. Considering interstates in WV/VA/NC/SC, have steep grade signs for 3-5% grades, tells the story to such a setup. Even at 50’ of height, the grade is still 10% or 5.7 degrees. Hypotenuse is 502’. Max recommended slope on a zip line is 3% for natural braking, max 6% with bungee brakes installed.
  24. And I was responding to your post. If you can’t accept my disagreement then don’t post.
