Made another Mack launch concept! The name is Polar Vortex! I even made a logo for it! Here's the link to the picture I used for the blizzard background: https://www.dreamstime.com/illustration/blizzard-cartoon.html

What if they just remade The Vortex's original layout, but replace all of the inversions with airtime hills and banked turns, and call it Vortex's Revenge :lol:LOL?!

  2. Next year Kings Island will be celebrating its 50th anniversary:D!! Obviously, there will probably be a few changes made around the park, like the Eiffel Tower being repainted. One of the things that I think they should do for the 50th, is that they should have the International Street Restaurant open all season long, instead of just during Winterfest or other special events that I probably don't know about. Inside the restaurant they could have old photos of Kings Island and old park advertisements hanging up on the walls. It would also offer some great views of International Street, since during Winterfest the park is open mostly when it's night. So what's your opinion? Do you think they should have the restaurant open all season long, do you think they should just have it open during Winterfest or other special events, or are you fine with either?

Made a concept of a beach street kind of thing similar to what KD got this year in their waterpark.

Here's what the concept includes: the colorful rectangle boxes are the food truck like food stands, the hot pink dots are tables, the big blue circle thing in the center is a splash pad, the black box in the right corner is a stage for live bands/shows, and the brown lines in front of the stage are benches to watch said shows.

Note: I just made this concept and I forgot that their are power lines in this area, so this exact location isn't too likely, but they can do it in another location.

    Here's the pic:

What about that woods area behind that open field? The could use it to add a water coaster. After riding Cheetah Chase and Wildebeest at Holiday World, I definitely think it would add some variety to the water park's collection of rides. It probably wouldn't be anything record breaking, but it would still be pretty cool:D

I could've sworn I heard someone say that they had a theory that the park would replace the Grand Carousel with a splash pad. Does that sound familiar to you?

  4. This is part 2 of a Kings Island survey that I'm doing. This might also be the last part of it, hopefully.

If you have any questions, concerns, or are confused, please comment down below. Anyways, I can't wait to see the results! Enjoy!!:D

I threw out the suggestion on here of changing one of the hills coming back in and adding a double down to mix it up a bit and add more pops of airtime, but that's unlikely to ever happen.

I think there actually used to be one more final drop right where the entrance to what is now Area 72 is. They removed it to make way for the entrance to Flight of Fear in 1996.

But it doesn’t race well.  One lift hill runs slightly faster and one of the turnaround trim brakes slows the train more than the other.

To me, I think it races pretty well. Just as long as it doesn't get to the point where it's like what I've heard about Twisted Colossus at Magic Mountain. I hope the park doesn't have RMC do what they did with Colossus at Magic Mountain where they combine the two tracks into one single continuous track.

  6. This is part 1 of a Kings Island survey that I'm doing. As of right now I don't know how many parts this survey will be split into. So I will try to let you know when the next part is available and when the last one is coming up.

Hello there! This is part 1 of a Kings Island survey that I'm doing. It's very simple. Just answer the questions. And if you have any questions, concerns, or are confused, please comment down below. I will also let you know when the next part of the survey is available. Anyways, I can't wait to see the results! Enjoy!!:D

Might want to calm down the thread before Coaster Nation creates a 2 page article on how this is a 200 foot wing coaster and John Matarese starts a whole story on it lol.

Yeah. Don't want another RMC Son of Beast situation. LoL:lol:

  8. I apologize if someone has already posted a topic similar to this. I just felt that what this topic addresses, isn't addressed enough. So again, I apologize if someone has already posted something similar to this.

If you were to ask me if I think The Racer is underappreciated, I would probably instantly say "Absolutely!" The Racer opened with the park in the year 1972, and at the time was the tallest, fastest, and longest wooden roller coaster. It was pretty popular at that time! Nowadays I feel that the ride is very underappreciated. When you look at The Beast, it gains its popularity from being the world's longest wooden roller coaster for now over 40 years. It's also well-known for its famous ride through the woods, especially at night!

So, what's keeping The Racer from getting acknowledged more?

In this topic, I would like you guys to comment on why you think the ride isn't getting the attention it needs, and what you think the park could do to help it receive the love and attention it needs, while staying true to the nostalgia of the ride of course.

I can't wait to see what ideas you guys come up with for this classic Kings Island attraction:D!

  9. I voted for The Racer. It's a CLASSIC:D I don't get why this ride is so underappreciated! I love getting to race my friends and family on a roller coaster:D Who doesn't love that? Also, the ride was retracked some more, meaning that it's a little bit smoother than before.

I'm hoping that the park will give it nice new paint job for next year! Especially since the park's 50th anniversary is next year, meaning that The Racer itself will also turn 50 years old! I might as well post an entire topic about this. If it's not being addressed, I think it should.

Also I probably might add another option to the poll after doing some thinking.

I understand why people would say The Beast.  It does not have all the bells and whistles of new rides.  The layout if not for the woods is a little boring.  But if you lived thru the opening back in 1979, it was a marvel for it's time and just stuck in the enthusiast mindset to this day.

Just think if Orion had opened in 1999 . . or some date 20-30 years ago.  It would still be regarded as one of the best coasters ever built.  But since it was built last year and number 7 (I think) of GIGAs built in the US.  Most people regard it as a lesser of the GIGA's.  Some argue it isn't a GIGA at all.  It's just all perspective.

For example, if the same BAT was built today most people would not give it much thought after riding a rickety

coaster barely getting over 100ft tall.  But back in the 80's it was the reason you went to KI and waited in line for 4+ hours.

FYI . . I love The Beast and still see it thru my 12 yr old eyes.  The best ride ever . . to my perspective.  :)

I LOVE this explanation!! It makes a lot of sense and has good evidence for proof. Also, I love how you mentioned that Orion isn't even considered as a giga coaster by some. Last I checked, RCDB doesn't even want to classify it as a giga coaster and instead as a hyper coaster:lol:

  11. I've been asking this question to some of my crew members for a while now, so now I'll ask you guys, the KICentral community! Here's the question:

Which of these rides do you think is the most overrated ride at Kings Island?

If there's a ride that you think is the most overrated ride at the park and it's not listed, then you may choose "other" and comment down below which ride it is that wasn't on the list. This should be fun! As always, be respectful of others' opinions please:D Enjoy!! :)

That would be nice, but a big part of me would like to see something along the lines of the old Keelboat Canal.

I'm pretty sure that's actually what used to be there before they built Tomb Raider: The Ride. Someone I know has this whole conspiracy that Kings Island, eventually, plans on removing the log flume ride in Planet Snoopy. He said that the park would remove the log flume ride and replace it with a "Maverick-style" attraction, like Cedar Point did. Of course, that instead ended up being Mystic Timbers, which did NOT involve the removal of the log flume ride.

That is true! I really think we need a ferris wheel of some type. My dream would be a large skywheel with enclosed cars and an awesome lighting package. Would be another ride to run during Winterfest.

I might've been hearing things, but I think there was a short time when Kings Island actually had a ferris wheel! I'd have to recheck my Kings Island history book. But yes, I do agree with what you said about the ferris wheel. The only problem though that I could possibly think of with installing a ferris wheel at Kings Island would be the location of the ride, like where it would go. But other than that, I think a ferris wheel would be a great addition to the park's attraction lineup!

Boy would my supervisor Nick love that lol. He hated working water maze lol.

    Yeah, I know.

Again, I think if they were to add this kind of hotel next to Soak City, I think it should be named this:

    Castaway Harbor Hotel

I would love that!! I think it could a good job in terms of marketing. But that last part might depend on how Camp Cedar does, whenever that thing is opening!

The hotel would be known as the Kings Island Grand Lodge.

If the hotel would be next to Soak City, why not give it some kind of beach themed name. Example: Castaway Harbor: hotel & lodge. Also, do you think they could add a water maze attraction themed to being stranded on an Island and your goal is to try to get off of it?
