    Son of Beast

    I wish you would...
  2. Thats the point... If you dont care who you ride with, then I agree with you. But if you are playing musical queues after you are assigned -- screwing things up for the person assigning seats, it just makes matters more confusing. The park may not be in the business of determining who is who, but if I recall there is a sign that says no groups?
  3. Yeah, that is somewhat irritating. As a matter of fact, I was there yesterday, and was actually passed by someone who was in the standard line, and entered the same time I did. On many occasions you can see people "acting" single but arent good enough being smooth. I think the attendant should ask them to return to the end of the line, as it is obvious they are cheating.
  4. So iChase... Would you care to share how you created that design? If not, its cool too.
  5. "NEAR" is relative. In relation to the real Eiffel Tower, the camera is "near" the 1/3 scale replica at KI.

    Drop Zone

Controller Runs MS Windows. It locked "up"
  7. Sure did.... Just got home from there.... But what is this tomb raider thing... Parts outside? Anyone else confirm?
  8. I think this thread is a healthy thread. A lot of great points being brought up. But, the more I read what people have to say, I wonder one thing. Does Guest Relations REALLY LISTEN? Or is your comment card thrown into a pile? I notice that a few people have had a genuine concern here on the boards about the employees text messaging. Lets say we were to tell GR. I am curious as to how they were to react. Would they attempt to fix the problem? Its not that I want the person to get in trouble for texting, thats not the goal. I just want them to pay attention while they are driving the rollercoaster I am on. If they are looking down trying to hide the cell phone, they obviously cannot watch the ride. Thats not safe. On the flip side. I realize how much of a pain guests can be to the employees. My job is of related nature. So when I am at Kings Island, I make special effort to appreciate the employees. I try to be polite to everyone from the "Litter Gitters" to the Ride Ops, and even the Management that walks around. After all, everyone who works there are the ones that keeps the park running for me to enjoy. Lets keep this conversation going... Hopefully someone will see it.
  9. Couple of points, in no particular order. -Posting in this forum.... Where I work, only good news gets out, and the bad news is covered up so fast its not even funny. I don't believe for one minute, that they are fooling anyone. To me, or an outsider, never hearing any "bad news" makes me wonder more about the whole place. I think a little bad news makes people realize that, we too have problems, and we are working to fix them. Just like everyone else. What is my point here? If this place only had the good and no bad about KI, then I don't want to be here because we are only fooling ourselves. Yes this is a fansite, but if I am a tourist and I google Kings Island, and click on the third result -- KICentral "The Ultimate Guide to Kings Island," I expect to find the good things to do, and what to stay away from. It makes this site more valuable in more than one way. Even though we represent only a small percentage of the visitors to the park, not only do we need to inform GR of the good and the bad, other guests need to as well. But I am sure that Cedar Fair people look at this site for some information on how to improve as well, and if we dont speak it, how will they know. -The employees (ride-ops) definitely need some management and discipline. I know we are beating a dead horse, but they are so unprofessional this year. I am getting real tired of the ride-ops text messaging, I have seen it more than once in the past month while visiting. They do seem to be goofing off a lot, and I too have been skipped while checking lap bars. -I dont care who owns it. Like I have stated before, Kings Island is a nice place to escape and people watch. Personally the season pass (with parking) was still a good deal and I really enjoy Kings Island. I DO AGREE that we have had a lot of negative posts lately, and it needs to cool down but who am I to stop it. I think I have done enough rambling for now, sorry if it just goes on making no sense.
  10. You know, I rode it Wednesday, I believe the 11th. The Son of Beast now sucks. It is as bad as The Racers, and 3 times rougher than it was before its accident. Prior to the accident, I would say that The Beast was rougher than The Son of Beast. Not now, it is horrible. I used to be for keeping the Son of Beast, but for all it is worth now, I will now jump on the "tear it down" bandwagon. Horrible.
  11. I think there is a wheelchair exit. If you are on the very back of the train, looking toward Racer/IJST, on your right, there is an exit that I believe you should be able to wheel out of. Another way to describe the location would be just to the right of you, if you are standing in queue for the very back of the train. I made the mistake of trying to exit there and the girl told me to go the other way.
  12. You can do that even still with one pass. As another person mentioned, they have to keep the parking pass active so that you can leave to go get food or other things and get back in the park. You could simply drive in, get out of the car, walk up to the drop off zone, board another car, drive in. Rinse and Repeat. If you are out to save money on parking its still easy.
  13. I didnt get to go down today.... I am still a bit hesitant about it to begin with. The first, is like I say, I have a job that I cannot quit, because it is (and I mean no offense to any KI employee) my real job and has to come first. I just dont know that I would be worth hiring if I can only be there in the late afternoon or weekends. The second is, like you said above, basically not professional, but hobby and/or volunteer for theatrical events. And since I am the only one who has any idea of how to do it, I do it. But I do it my way. I do not have a major in theater, nor have a worked in a real theatrical environment (that I would consider.) I would just think I am going in asking for a job when I am fooling myself, and looking like an idiot to them. I do want to work there just because of what other people have said, the experience, environment, and friendships... not the money. I may wait and see what comes of late spring. I may consider going down tomorrow (Sunday) though... I mean... Can I just go down and talk to them and ask questions without applying?
  14. I'd kinda be interested in the lighting and sound technician, but I have no resume to prove anything that I have done. The other thing is.. I really want to work at KI, but I have regular job that pays more than KI does and I have to work it 8 hours a day and I dont think that KI has a shift that would allow me to get from work, to work... You know what I am saying... I think it would be so fun to work at KI. And it would make that much of a difference, I am there enough to be able to work there... I go a lot... because I have nothing better to do... but I would have it any other way.
  15. Kinda sounds like its on the realm of Mid-Life Crisis if you ask me....
  16. I think we should somehow ask Kings Island if we could put a PTZ camera on the tower (which would cost about $1600 *estimate*) and then 60 bucks a month for the internet connection and then charge for access to it for us members ( just to pay for the camera and bandwidth). I would be happy to accept your money for access... and we would all be happy to pay for it huh? Here is an example of what I am talking about at fountain square in Cinci.
  17. No worries mates! Something is just screwed up on the webpage where it is embedded. Here is the Kings Island Webcam http://www.centralmediaserver.com/wcpo/webcams/56-09-01.jpg
  18. I think they are going to change the name to "Son Of Reptar" Sorry... Lame I know... I just had to.
  19. I doubt that it would help the amusement park business much, as far as attracting visitors. How many people are going to take advantage of that extra time to go to an amusement park. And if they do, they will probably go once or twice. Parents like the day care. I would look at it as a way to keep the place open longer, because now they have employees to work it, being that most of the employees are high schoolers (which there is nothing wrong with.)
  20. Sorry for bringing this topic to life after it has sunk a few pages deep... I was wondering, does anyone know the software they were using for the sound portion of the show? I sat behind the sound booth one of the times, and I was watching them work, and they had some cool sound software to manage the songs, and the cues, etc. Just thought maybe someone would have some insight on what it was. Thanks
  21. Surely they werent intending on selling the park in '04 were they? If thats the case, then why would they have built it to begin with?
  22. Sounds like we are making a mountain out of a mole hill here... But while we are on the topic, why did they make a yellow line to stand behind on IJST? There is like 2 feet between the line and the gate.
  23. Yeah... what were they thinking hiring in a structural engineer to take extra steps in investigating and precaution. What they need to do is bring in all of these "experts" on PKIC and let them diagnose it, and then SOB will be all better again. I say tear the thing down too. Not because it sucks (because it DOESN'T) but because I am tired of hearing all of the people complain about it, whether its how many people got hurt, whether the train is "suspended," WHERE the accident actually happened, WHAT actually happened. I would almost bet that the people that would complain because its torn down would be minimal, because I cant find many people that like the thing. Of course, once you tear it down, make sure PKI consults the experts here at PKIC as to what to build in its place, or we will have to hear about that too. Kings Island cant win can they? No matter what they do, it has its critics. Last time I checked, you dont have to go to Kings Island. Go there and enjoy what you have, and forget about what you dont. </soapbox> You got me started there woofer. But it feels good to get it out.
  24. as far as i can remember, it seems as if those breaks always slow the train, it happens about every time I ride it. You may have stopped for an unloading delay, and that was to prevent the trains from colliding.
