  1. Top Gun: The Jet Coaster was painted in the Carowinds parking lot prior to be erected. I would dare guess it could have been a number of things from the park not knowing the name and theme to being cheaper to buy unpainted and paint on site.

  2. You should be able to walk up the exit of any ride that doesn’t have a test seat and ask to test the seat seat and restraints.

If the restraints secure then you will have to wait through the regular line to ride

I know this is true at Cedar Point and Carowinds as I have done it at both parks.

A perfect example of why we're last in fighting this "imaginary" foe. Ask Sweden how well "herd immunity" is working out.... I'm waiting.

Sweden has a similar population to North Carolina, herd immunity doesn’t start to kick in until the good majority of the population has the antibodies. With a population of 10 million; 75,000 cases(Sweden) and 99,000 cases(NC) is no where near enough for herd immunity to work. Case numbers would need to be in the millions like 7million per their populations to even begin to work.

Bending the curve and slowing the virus spread is being down so that our hospitals aren’t overwhelmed with just Covid let alone all the other things they handle on the normal basis

I assure you that the employees are far more miserable. Where we get to walk around the park, and get some moving air across our face, they are standing in the stations most of their day. It's hot and miserable for sure.

    This is my opinion only:
Actually it is not hot or miserable, you just have to get yourself in the mind set that you are wearing your mask to protect your guests, your coworkers and your family.

I find it far more bothersome that my mask hides my smile from my guests than anything else.

I won’t say which amusement park I work at. My job is just as enjoyable with the mask as it was before pre-covid.

Not many people I know have seen Song of the South. It is FULL of old-south-stereotypes. But the story is primarily about crappy white plantation owners who neglect their son, and a kind black man (and his family) taking him under his wing. I know it's controversial in many ways, but I think it also highlights Walt Disney's genius. If you have not seen it, I encourage you to. You might be surprised.

One has to wonder if your opinion of the characters in the movie is part of why Disney won’t release the movie. I haven’t seen the complete film, kinda hard to get a copy of it but I have seen clips.

From the clips I have seen, I agree with your opinion. Uncle Remus and his family are good role models; the little boy’s parents are poor role models. I also think that just maybe the film was ahead of its time and was intended to promote unity among the different kinds of people in American society.

Again, I haven’t seen the whole movie but my wife did see the book it is based upon in a local store for sale about a year ago.

I think they are almost to phase 2

North Carolina started phase 2 on May 22nd at 5pm. Phase 3 may start June 26th but it may be pushed back, when asked about water parks, the Governor or Mindy Cohen(NCDHHS) responded with “That sounds like phase 3.”, however I can’t remember which one said it.

This was brought up in the media, and it’s an important point. We know a second wave of the virus is coming, it’s only a matter of when and where. The problem with the parks’ reopening is that it could put them at risk of being a local source or hot spot during the second wave. The amusement industry is driven off of good reputation, and having a park be a hot spot is the worst possible event for a park’s or chain’s reputation.

This is why Disney, even though Florida is reopening, won’t reopen Disney Springs-even though it’s in phase 1.

Even experts can’t agree that a second wave is coming, some experts say that the virus will be like a bell curve with no second wave.

Been done before, just ask Carole $(&)#/ Baskins.

So I want to know what animal gets to eat the pandas.

The pandas are property of China on loan on the Zoo, the Chinese Government is extremely strict and would most likely not allow that.

I am probably in the minority here bur if we would have let this virus run its course we if would be almost over with now and the economy would still be booming.  We could take precautions but to shut every thing down you are ruining peoples lives.  Think about the small businesses.(the backbone of the economy by the way).  Joe Blow down the street starting out young family just purchased his first home and now sunk $20,000 in starting a new diner along a popular highway (which likely would have been very successful) is now forced to close.  Joe Blow loses his house, savings and is no long spending money elsewhere and his employees are now jobless.  This scenario is playing out all over the country.  The government is trying to help buy giving everyone a stimulus check of $1,200.  That is not enough to make most house payments for a single month.  Its not going to help not to mention what is that going to do with inflation?  I far fear the economic impacts over the health impacts this is has caused.  Cigarettes kill more people in a year and we willingly sell that over the counter the only difference is this effects the rich and famous and we have no way of controlling it.

You aren’t in the minority alone, I say let’s spike the ball and go back to work. This virus is an act of god, if god wants to call me to Heaven, Hell or where he feels I should go then he is going to do it whether the government or I want it or not.

I'll take crying over spilled milk category for $200 Alex...

    https://www.wlwt.com/article/ohio-dairy-farmers-are-having-to-dump-their-milk-while-some-grocery-stores-limit-purchase-quantities/32040910

...but seriously, people hoarding like they have been for no reason and now we have double jeopardy happening because stores were forced to ration and now dairy farmers have excess product...and nobody can get any milk in the process...unintended consequences..

To be fair, milk has faded out of popularity over the years anyways.

I have had problems finding cheese, toilet paper, eggs, grits, tissues, paper towels, deli meats, soup, etc.

But the milk racks are still full, I remember when a gallon of milk was $4. I can get that same gallon of Milk for $1.29 right now up from 99 cents.

The big question that nobody knows the answer to is what is the acceptable number of new daily cases before places start the re-opening process.

If we peak mid-May and that peak lasts for a month before daily cases start dropping, what is the acceptable number of new cases?

It could happen, but it would be crazy to start re-opening if the new daily count is higher than the day before...but how many days of declining daily new counts do we have to have before everyone deems it is safe and what is an acceptable number to say once below this in daily new counts it will be deemed safe?

If the US peaks in Mid-May then we will be looking at around 6 million cases in the US alone and based upon the current rate of deaths compared to recovered 2.75 million deaths.

Of course, this is assuming a very sharp peak which is unrealistic but is the worst case scenario based on the numbers I have been watching.

I hope this Social Distancing non-sense starts working but based on the last 2 weeks and a fairly steady multiplier of 1.3, in my non-expert opinion the government waited too late to start these measures.

I do also want to note that if the US peaks on Easter Sunday then the US will still have around 2 million cases.

my opinion is based upon facts but is solely a non-expert opinion.

I know that it has been pointed out before but is worth repeating. This is not just about Covid19 cases.  If the HC system is overrun, what about all the other reasons people use hospitals.  Heart Attacks, strokes, cancer treatments, accidents etc., etc.   We are already having to delay or reduce some cancer treatments. Chemo and radiation just kill your immune system.  Can’t bring those people into a hospital with covid19 cases lining the hallways.  Think about your 45 year old mom getting breast cancer and can’t get treatment.

Right now businesses are being asked politely to ramp up production of PPE and they are but they will do so at a pace that ensures they still remain profitable.   They are not going to build out to increase production by 20X to all of a sudden have demand fall back to normal levels in a year or two and then have all this idle capacity they invested in.  That is not maximizing shareholder value.

We need a war time footing with a command economy in certain sectors right now and it is not happening.

We all know all to well what happens to a park that over expands and then demand falls.

Hanesbrands in Winston-Salem, NC has converted atleast one of the factories from underwear and socks to N95 masks.

So yes some industries are stepping up to the plate to help 3M or other companies.

It doesn't look good because people aren't listening. Stay at home and the problem will go away quickly. However the chance for that has long come and gone.

More testing has also become available and at a faster rate.
