  1. Fair warning, Flyers are also unfriendly for people over 265 pounds roughly. I barely made it on Thunderhead at Dollywood in 2011. I find PTC a tight squeeze at 280 but not as tight as Flyers at 265.
  2. I would have rather seen Thunder Road combined into one track as a RMC topper track..... Carowinds would have surpassed The Beast as worlds longest wooden coaster.
  3. ^^Carowinds made the claim that Thunder Road's Ridership went down but the lines didn't back up their claims. Hurler can run one train and still be walk on during the week. In 2006 when I worked at Hurler, we ran two trains nearly everyday and only had walk on lines most days. A few days we only had one train and had walk on. Thunder Road was the most ridden ride in 2006 despite having short lines and only running one side nearly half the day. GCI didn't rebuild the same sections over and over, they replaced different sections. Carowinds underestimated how many would be upset over Thunder Road, when they made the announcement the park was selling no March for Thunder Road, afterwards they starting getting some right before the closing day. They are still selling Thunder Road merch last season.
  4. Otis Elevator helped with Disney's Tower of Terror.... I am pretty sure Intamin does subcontract parts of their rides...
  5. Longer than WindSeeker? I think this is the third Intamin Gyro Tower to get stuck recently. Hopefully Cedar Fair doesn't start eyeballing the Carowinds Skytower for removal due to this, Sky Cabin may be the next WindSeeker for Knotts.
  6. Oval shaped kiddie coasters, very basic and almost a flat ride(Musik Express and Bayern Curve style). B&M Hyper coasters, a large amount of them seem to go out and come back.
  7. Thunder Road was removed because the park didn't want to spend 2 million(or more) after spending 5 million to rebuild the lift hills, brake runs and stations. 5 million had already been spent on the rest of the coaster, the wood rotted because Carowinds removed the paint and waited over 20 years before applying(or they said injecting) water seal. The termite rumor was confirmed false by Carowinds. Thunder Road was the most ridden ride in park for the 2006 season and lines were no shorter in 2014 or 2015 than they were in 2006.
  8. So do apply the same logic to the Raptor accident in 2015? The one where a school teacher was hit by the train after getting over the fence? http://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/hamilton-county/cincinnati/cincinnati-zoo-builds-larger-barrier-at-gorilla-world-after-harambes-death Umm, the fence had passed inspections....
  9. One of the cities(or the state) that has jurisdiction over Kings Dominion turned down tax incentives that Cedar Fair asked for, Charlotte, NC gave the tax incentives that Cedar Fair wanted and Carowinds got the $50 million that could have went to KD if Cedar Fair had gotten the incentives. I dare guess that KD got a reduced budget and Carowinds got an increased one.
  10. I am not surprised, the public has been hassling SeaWorld for decades about the Orcas. However I will toss out an alternative idea to keep Orcas but this idea is probably super expensive and would require huge amounts of land. How do you feel about an Orca exhibit that would mimic their natural habitat similar to what large zoos do with Bison and other large animals from around the world? Again, my idea would require a huge amount of land and require a even larger budget so it is very unlikely to ever happen but what if it did?
  11. I would rather carry my souvenir cup around than throw away a paper(form/plastic) cup every 90 or so minutes in the middle of the summer. My family(of 3) buys one cup, we also purchase a locker nearly every visit. During Preseason and Postseason when it is cooler we have less need for a locker and cup because the waterpark isn't open, it isn't as hot and we have more pockets(less stuff too). This would also result in more trash, which will hopefully all make it into trash cans. Trash Cans will need to be changed more often too.
  12. VR came and went with the 90s, Pokémon was extremely popular in the 90s until it fell off(some). Notice a pattern, they are both popular again. I don't expect VR to hang around, just another passing fad.
  13. Autopia at Disneyland(USA) = Les Taxis at KI. Down sizing Autopia would be a better option, that way Disneyland could remove the unused Peoplemover track if they shorten the Monorail. Also remember that the Nemo Submarine Voyage runs under all of the mentioned rides. However my idea would open a large area for either Tomorrowland or Fanstayland. I also suggest making Autopia electric instead of gasoline.
  14. Makes me wonder if the media done it on purpose to increase ratings and/or clicks.
  15. http://www.wbir.com/mb/news/local/fire-close-to-dollywood-dreammore-resort-cabins-evacuated/357499792 From near the end of the story: "As of now they are safe and hanging out in their aviaries, albeit the air quality is not optimal. Eagle Mountain Sanctuary houses one of the largest collections of non-releasable Bald Eagles in the world. Firetrucks and first responders are protecting Dollywood and we hope to receive reports in the morning from Dollywood security as to whether it's safe to come evacuate them."
  16. https://www.eagles.org/eagle-nest-cams/dollywood-nest-cam/ Speaking of animals.... The Eagles are still in the park and I am hoping that is water I see in the background of the webcam. Audio is separate.

  18. Backwards in my opinion, I will admit my logic always correct however.
  19. http://carowindsconnection.com/viewtopic.php?p=91661#p91661 Link to original post, I haven't found any photos of Vortex under construction yet.
  20. "Something else with Vortex, it is built on one giant concrete slab. Unfortunately, it is still settling into the ground. The few days it was closed during this past summer was so they could raise and repair a few footers because that part of the ride's base had sunk into the ground a little more. In a few years, it should be almost done settling into the ground. That's something I found to be interesting." I ran across this post on another forum(will link if need be) and a Google search turned up a post about Vortex sinking. First off, unless Carowinds removed part of Carolina Goldrusher, the odds of Vortex's footings being one giant slab is slim as Goldrusher runs under Vortex's first drop and lift. Also Vortex's first drop is below original ground level because it had to go under a Monorail. Furthermore more Vortex crosses over part of a pond. I used to work at Carowinds and in my opinion this sounds like some of the sarcasm that a couple of Maintenance guys would tell me when I asked them questions they couldn't or shouldn't answer. Anyone got any inslight?
