  1. While this is true, Timberwolf doesn’t even compete with or compare to the existing venues at the land formerly known as Coney Island. And on top of that: the Lindner Tennis Center has announced plans to use their stadium across the street as a concert venue after a series of renovations. Timberwolf’s only draw is that it happens to be connected to one of the nation’s best amusement parks. On its own: it’s been outdated for decades. Which is why it’s HILARIOUS that they thought they could charge a SEPARATE admission for it to a series where the beer ran out and had issues (while being sponsored by a beer company (one that was already on shaky ground and is now gone), the bathrooms were old, and the acts were… well, probably didn’t need all those seats for what they’d draw.
  2. I mean, you could summon a wizard who can raise people from the dead and then book Paul McCartney and the resurrected Beatles at Timberwolf and the reception would still be: “It’s a miracle, but man that venue sucks.”
  3. Correct me if my understanding is wrong, but this seems like more of an upside for SIX shareholders and more of a gamble for the CF side of things?
  4. I missed it because I got enticed by the headline at the bottom: “this one secret doctors don’t want you to know.”
  5. To clarify, I was referring to "Facebook Nonsense" in the sense of click bait news fodder (like when a certain local tv news station posts "they said WHAT" over the a headline about a b-list celebrity), not necessarily sharing Coney stories.
  6. I mean, it’s probably way more hassle than it’s worth. Both of those structures probably require additional infrastructure where if you’re going to put a new pool/plumbing in — why not just spend the money on new attractions at that point? And we’re talking about two attractions that, while great for Coney, would be relatively unnoticed among the swath of KI offerings. Also, yeah it would be a good PR move in the sense that a few local tv news stations might use it as feel-good-fodder for the older crowd still watching the news and spreading Facebook nonsense, but how much is that really worth? It’s tragic what happened to Sunlite Pool and hopefully MEMI preserves Moonlight Gardens/some history, but the park truly died in 1971, not 2023.
  7. Exactly. It's also a kids ride that was omitted from a clickbait list on USA Today. Don't think this is a "Dewey Defeats Truman" situation here.
  8. I would, no joke, buy a season pass for 2024 if they just showed the Days of Thunder movie again.
  9. Holy s**t, this is so perfect it makes my head hurt.
  10. I distinctly remember looking it up as a kid after riding the ride and never being able to get the QuickTime videos to play. Figured I hadn’t missed much once movie was gone from AT.
  11. Is 7th Portal technically in the MCU?
  12. The 2008/2009 offseason was a wild time. It can’t be understated just how big of an undertaking Diamondback was. Not only in terms of new construction, but the adjustment the park needed to make for both operations and maintenance. Adding that ride into the lineup was a big deal that touched nearly every department that winter. Once it was all said and done and the coaster was topped off, they had a massive party for all the winter workers (both the in-house folks and contractors who built the ride). One of the signature items served up on the Festhaus grill that year was… well, you guessed it…
  13. This young woman has a bunch of randos discussing her career—in detail—on a forum website. I understand why she might be a bit guarded.
  14. I mean…uh…do you really need to interact with her personal Facebook or Twitter profiles?
  15. I think they can. Their subscribe/customer/donor base probably definitely isn’t the same as most Coney season pass holders. And once they announce a landmark/big name act to open the music venue, the “you killed Coney” facebook comments will be overshadowed by folks excited to post “Can’t wait to see X there.” Imagine if they announced Taylor Swift… fuhgedaboudittttt Then again, if I can don a tinfoil hat for a second—the timing of the announcement could be very strategic. Local newsrooms are staffed low right now due to the holidays and also dealing with a glutton of seasonal stories (especially local tv who’s prepping for their weather scares and posting “war on Christmas” clickbait). What a perfect time to swing this under the radar. I do want to add: I very much empathize with folks here, amusement park fans, and those who are sad to see it go. Coney is a huge piece of Cincinnati history and speaking as someone who’s done a lot of work around Cincinnati history, this news was pretty shocking. However… The truth is that “Old Coney” — the one memorialized in books, memories, and postcards — died over fifty years ago in the Spring of 1972. Sunlite Pool managed to stick around by happenstance and new ownership brought in what were mostly carnival rides in the early 90s. Sure it was a local swimming hole (and a good one at that) and a great place for events/picnics, but the park of yester-year mostly existed where Riverbend is now. Even the “newer” rides they yanked out in 2019 were simply a nod to the past. That really was it. It may not make things feel better for some people—but look at what Coney became (hint: it’s the reason this website exists). Now, if we wanna talk about this region’s latest obsession with new music venues, well, I got some thoughts . This has gotta be the nail in the coffin for Timberwolf, though, right? Or is KI still gonna try and pretend that dump is in any way a “venue?”
  16. The low hanging fruit is keeping the entrance/incorporating it into the “campus” and also using Moonlight Gardens as a reception venue/restaurant/bar/lounging area during events. Preserves some history and the spirit of the place.
  17. take a bottle, shake it up Break the bubble, break it up POUR THAT DIP SPIT ON ME
  18. You know who won't be silent? Def Leppard and their tens of fans still rocking out to "Pour Some Sugar on Me" at the new venue.
  19. These jokes about my Alma mater’s campus are pretty cold and gray. Just like its campus.
  20. John Matarese is a silly and would never have anything to "report" if it wasn't for... 1) This website 2) Apple releasing new iPhones (he does the SAME story every year) 3) His target demographic falling for his scare tactics constantly.
  21. Aquaman’s Car Rental Adventure Sponsored by Hertz.
