  1. ZERO... for the first time in my entire life. I moved to chicago this year and I've been to Great America at least 15 times.
  2. Word has it, aside from the managers they cut, they cut a few engineers and maintence personnel
  3. Who can forget...We dancin all over town, the party's gettin out of bounds, Everyday's a second chance, so get on your feet and dance, na na na na na, na na na na, na na na na na na...
  4. Maureen, First of all, thank you so much for clearing all of this up for us. I had the pleasure of working with you last season at Bubba gumps, and I just wanted to let you and everyone know that you're an awesome person to be around. My only question is if you've considered hosting a KI blog, like the ones Tyler and Tony do at CP and Paula at Holidayworld? Thank you ~DR
  5. I say rip it down and build a steel coaster that we can marvel at as we pull up to the park.
  6. Overall... 5.Superman...Six Flags Great America 4.The Beast (at night)...Kings Island 3.Millenium Force...Cedar Point 2.Raptor/all the Batmans...CP & Six Flags 1.Hulk...Islands of Adventure At KI 5.Viking Fury 4.Vortex 3.Flight of Fear 2.Backwards Racer 1.The Beast
  7. 3 words... B & M I don't care which one, any of them, ok, maybe not a stand up, but any of the others...floorless, inverted, hyper, drop coaster, flying, or even something like the Hulk. Dueling coasters wouldn't be bad either. If B&M is out of the question, I wouldn't mind a nice intimin either. 300, 400, 500 ft tall intimin, any of those would work for me. Aside from coasters, I'd clean up the park, enforce the wardrobe a little better, spruce up the landscaping, throw in an awesome darkride (like darkastle or spiderman). I'd add some funding to the entertainment budget, bringing back favorites like the Star Trek characters or the "Way too much TV band", and the live bands that used to play at Bubba Gumps and out in BB. I'd also throw in a night time parade and show to complement the nighttime fireworks. I'd also bring back an animal show or a stunt show, and get rid of one of the karoke shows. I might try to partner up with a few untapped cable stations, like the Discovery channel or the food network, hosting live cooking shows in the park like Universal does with Emeril from time to time, or have the Tuttles come in and show off a few of their bikes. I'd also try to add a few local marching bands to the parades, like Kings or Mason, or even UC. From a food and beverage standpoint, I'd try to add to the parks already nice assortment of menu items. I'd probably update Wings diner and add another stand serving good wholesome foods like fried chicken and mashed potatoes. And of course we need deep fried turkey legs, even though they didn't do well in the past. We'll leave all of this up to Italian Chef. The only other changes I'd make would be more funnel cake locations, probably right on International street, and I'd take a serious look at the financial offering free soft drinks like the friendliest park in the world. Also, free parking wouldn't be a bad idea. Ok, maybe I took this idea and ran a little far with it, but if I were Exec VP at ki, I'd take a look at a few of these ideas.
  8. In 2004 BB was ranked number five by Amusement Today. 1.Schlitterbahn New Braunfels, Texas 2.Splashin’ Safari Santa Claus, Ind. 3.Blizzard Beach Orlando, Fla. 4.Typhoon Lagoon Orlando, Fla. 5.Boomerang Bay (PKI) Kings Mills, Ohio
  9. I stopped riding it years ago.
  10. My thoughts and prayers goes out to those that have been injured in this horrible incident as well as all of those hurt by this ride over the years. I think back to when they were building it, I was always so excited, I constantly checked the construction pics, I couldn't wait for my first ride, which unfortunately was postponed for months thanks to its short weekend long debut before being shut down for months. All of this makes me wish that KI had never built this coaster in the first place. It goes along with the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". That statement couldn't be more true. The Beast, in my opinion is still one of the best coasters in the world. And in trying to outdo themselves, they've built a machine that has caused so many aches and pains, both physically and mentally. They should have been happy with pappa. But whats done is done. In my opinion, this coaster should join The Bat and KC as a memory of the past. But thats all up to Cedar Fair of course. I only hope if they do dismantle it that they build something incredible to replace it.
  11. I always liked Tim too, but I like Craig as well. He's a very nice guy and his vision for the park was admirable.
  12. I just heard that Craig Ross has moved back to Charlotte to work on some special project and Tim Fisher (COO) has returned to KI as interim GM and Exec VP.
  13. The story I was told, was that someone left a gate open, letting different packs of Lions mix in with each other. It was apparently the associate's last day and he was going to say goodbye to the Lions that he had raised. Unfortunately he ended up with Lions that were unfriendly to him and thus caused his demise. Also, The same source (Current higher up at KI), told me that they closed WAH for financial reasons. In the begininning it was free to ride the monorail, but they weren't making enough money off of the attraction, so they began charging for it and the rideship declined still leaving it unprofitable.
  14. According to Screamscape.com Paramount's Kings Dominion may not be opening Flight of Fear this season. Could PKI be next?
  15. According to Screamscape.com, they're building a pair of dueling flyers.
