  1. Maureen,

First of all, thank you so much for clearing all of this up for us. I had the pleasure of working with you last season at Bubba gumps, and I just wanted to let you and everyone know that you're an awesome person to be around. My only question is if you've considered hosting a KI blog, like the ones Tyler and Tony do at CP and Paula at Holidayworld?

    Thank you

    ~DR

  3. 3 words...

    B & M

I don't care which one, any of them, ok, maybe not a stand up, but any of the others...floorless, inverted, hyper, drop coaster, flying, or even something like the Hulk. Dueling coasters wouldn't be bad either.

If B&M is out of the question, I wouldn't mind a nice intimin either. 300, 400, 500 ft tall intimin, any of those would work for me.

Aside from coasters, I'd clean up the park, enforce the wardrobe a little better, spruce up the landscaping, throw in an awesome darkride (like darkastle or spiderman). I'd add some funding to the entertainment budget, bringing back favorites like the Star Trek characters or the "Way too much TV band", and the live bands that used to play at Bubba Gumps and out in BB. I'd also throw in a night time parade and show to complement the nighttime fireworks. I'd also bring back an animal show or a stunt show, and get rid of one of the karoke shows. I might try to partner up with a few untapped cable stations, like the Discovery channel or the food network, hosting live cooking shows in the park like Universal does with Emeril from time to time, or have the Tuttles come in and show off a few of their bikes. I'd also try to add a few local marching bands to the parades, like Kings or Mason, or even UC.

From a food and beverage standpoint, I'd try to add to the parks already nice assortment of menu items. I'd probably update Wings diner and add another stand serving good wholesome foods like fried chicken and mashed potatoes. And of course we need deep fried turkey legs, even though they didn't do well in the past. We'll leave all of this up to Italian Chef. The only other changes I'd make would be more funnel cake locations, probably right on International street, and I'd take a serious look at the financial offering free soft drinks like the friendliest park in the world. Also, free parking wouldn't be a bad idea.

Ok, maybe I took this idea and ran a little far with it, but if I were Exec VP at ki, I'd take a look at a few of these ideas.

  5. My thoughts and prayers goes out to those that have been injured in this horrible incident as well as all of those hurt by this ride over the years. I think back to when they were building it, I was always so excited, I constantly checked the construction pics, I couldn't wait for my first ride, which unfortunately was postponed for months thanks to its short weekend long debut before being shut down for months. All of this makes me wish that KI had never built this coaster in the first place. It goes along with the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". That statement couldn't be more true. The Beast, in my opinion is still one of the best coasters in the world. And in trying to outdo themselves, they've built a machine that has caused so many aches and pains, both physically and mentally. They should have been happy with pappa. But whats done is done. In my opinion, this coaster should join The Bat and KC as a memory of the past. But thats all up to Cedar Fair of course. I only hope if they do dismantle it that they build something incredible to replace it.

  6. The story I was told, was that someone left a gate open, letting different packs of Lions mix in with each other. It was apparently the associate's last day and he was going to say goodbye to the Lions that he had raised. Unfortunately he ended up with Lions that were unfriendly to him and thus caused his demise.

Also, The same source (Current higher up at KI), told me that they closed WAH for financial reasons. In the begininning it was free to ride the monorail, but they weren't making enough money off of the attraction, so they began charging for it and the rideship declined still leaving it unprofitable.

  7. About the food....

Winterfesthaus is offering much more than that meal deal. There is also a Roastbeef meal and a Lasagna meal. They are also offering Chicken Tenders for the little ones at a slighly lower price.

Fest Pizza is also open just on the otherside of the building, selling all of your favorite PKI Laroza's pizza selecions...aka Cheese or Pep, lol. We are not doing Calzones in Fest Pizza, but Rivertown Pizza is also open and I believe is selling Calzones.

Bubba Gumps is also offering much more than the Crab Cake meal. There is also a Rib & Shrimp meal, or you can get Ribs, fried Shrimp, Chicken Tenders, Corndogs, Chicken Tenders, or House or Caesar Salads by themselves. For the adults the back bar is still open with even more adult beverages such as hot buttered rum, spiced wine, Cafe Ameretto, Irish Coffee, Irish Chocolate, Chardony, White Zinfindel, and the normal assortment of drafts and bottles including the special Winterfest Ale by Coors.

As you know, Skyline is open. But there is also a cart just down the street from Skyline that serves Chilli, Potato soup, and tortilla soup in bread bowls, in addition to Baked Potatos and Turkey Legs.

    Chickfila is open

There's also delicious snacks located throughout the park. There is a graters cart inside the Winterfest Haus as well as a Bakery Cart featuring many delecious treats from Buskin Bakery. There is a popcorn cart in front of Graters, A dip n dot cart near Nick Universe, and a roasted nut cart near the Eiffel Tower.

And of course our most popular Winter beverage location...STARBUCKS!

So there are plenty of excellent food choices for Winterfest, so eat up and enjoy chef.gif

  8. Wooferbear, you made a lot of good points...I wouldn't say PKI is salvage mode quite yet, but I can vouche for the fact that they are definatly in cost control mode, lol. But I definately agree with almost everything you said. It sad to think of all the hard work that was put into this event and to see is being missed out on by so many people, because somebody dropped the ball. I do have faith that the park will get things together and here's to WFest '06!

  9. I remember that website, KC was definately up for sale as a Togo Stand up, it said nothing about parts or scrap metal...Also KC's track wasn't cut up. The pieces are all in tact. They are stored in two spots off of the back roads. One near where they set off the fireworks, the other back behind SOB where the old cages are from WAH. But you're right about it not being sold to anyone now. It's sad too, I loved that coaster, the first stand up coaster now suffering the same fate as the first suspended coaster. But like The Bat will we ever see another Stand up at KI?
