  1. If no coaster, I wouldn't be surprised to see a new flume ride or something of the sort. If I'm correct, not very many parks have been building rides like Congo/Amazon Falls lately (5+ years).
  2. I remember a few years back when Budweiser (I believe) had the WHASSSAAPP!!! commercials. What a huge hit they were - every time a train on Beast started its ascent up the first lift and the returning train was near the other train, all you would hear is "WHAASSAAPPP!!!" and the other favorite, "WHASSSAABBBIIIII!!!"
  3. My most beloved removed ride is Skylab. Great flat, too bad it had to go. (sniffle...tear)

    2005 Poll

Because...(like many people whine about:) King's Island "isn't in the coaster race anymore." Yeah, they're not in the coaster race anymore, which is why four years ago, they opened the world's tallest, fastest and only looping wooden rollercoaster to complete their record holding with the world's longest wooden rollercoaster. By the way, did you people also know that King's Island is the only amusement park in the WORLD to have TWO of the top 5 longest roller coasters in existance? So you know, King's Island ISN'T AT ALL in the coaster race anymore. They dropped out YEARS ago... In conclusion, Thurgood Marshall was black. Thank you.
  5. Yes. "They" are specifically saying that King's Island upper-level management committed arson on Idora Park. (jubilantly rolls eyes)
  6. I'm sure the park could have hired a manufacturing firm to design and make replacement parts for the dead coaster, but it would have gotten terribly expensive. Remember, in America, you can do nearly anything with money.
  7. I'd let Great Coasters International redesign Son of Beast...and rebuild it. Would that be one popular ride, or what?
  8. The praise of this coaster comes to no surprise to me. When I went to Hersheypark a few weeks ago, I went on Wildcat (once) and Lignting Racer (many, many times) and I have to say, I was very impressed with what GCI has done. Lightning Racer is IMHO the best racing/twin coaster I've ever been on - wood or steel. GCI is on their way to the top of the wooden coaster business; I'm sure that Thunderhead further proved that.
  9. Whether a person FITS in a seat isn't the important thing. It's whether they can STAY in a seat throughout the duration of a ride cycle. When you have people falling out of seats because of restraints, there's obviously a problem. THAT is when safety becomes an issue. I can see how people (especially amusement ride enthusiasts) will be VERY angered by the possible fact that a park will turn away the guest becuse of their size. Would you rather live to see another day, or die in an amusement park accident? It only takes one time for ride personell to say "You're too big, but go ahead anyway," and have a guest die falling from a ride. Chances, chances are no fun. Chances, chances hurt someone.
  10. ^I don't know of anyone who went to see The Perfect Score. Titanic was certainly a big hit way back when. It seems like Paramount had the entire entertainment industry by its fingers in the 90s, however today it seems as if they're having problems finding what the people want to see.
  11. Are the seats hydraulically or pnuematically powered? I know I can hear the seats humming, so I figured they were pneumatic, but was unsure.
  12. I'll be honest - a super saturator would be a good fit for Boomerang Bay. However, if the Island decided to install one, it probably wouldn't go in for a few more years. It is a true water coaster that fits perfectly in a water park. Space can be an issue with these rides, but money can do nearly anything in the way of amusement parks. It would be a good addition to the park, the chances of one being brought to the wooden coaster capital of the world? In the middle, in my opinion.
  13. Delirium...it was my first ride at the Island last year and shall be my first this year. Nothing beats the *delirious* feeling of four and a half gravity forces at 72 miles an hour from 137 feet in the air pulling your face right off your head!
  14. "What? You mean Tomb Raider isn't a rollercoaster? I've been waiting in this line for 45 minutes!" (Guest leaves line in anger, refusing to go on "some dumb indoor ride")
  15. Does about 3-4 minutes sound right? That's my best guess... I can't wait until I visit the park this season...those chicks at the end of the movie around the car were HOTT...lol.
  16. That could cause some severe damage to your arms/wrists/hands if you did actually hit the "roof" of the tunnel. Does anyone know about how fast the coaster train is travelling when it hits that powerful helix? It seems EXTREMELY fast to me.
  17. I say The Bat. People who have had the God-given opportunity to ride it say that it was the "best suspended coaster" they've ever ridden. Great layout and design. Two lifts, near misses, and who couldn't love 90+ degree swings on a track that wasn't banked?!

    Unsafe

I look at that picture and laugh. Unsafe? Sure! If the ride was actually in operation. It's obvious that the ride is not running. I think it's more of a funny picture than a "OH MY GOD...THIS IS TERRIBLY UNSAFE!! THIS GUY MUST BE NUTS!!!"
  19. Many times, simple stuff is the stuff that works. I went to Hersheypark this past Sunday (WOW...if I may say so myself...) and went on the Claw, thier Chance Revolution (and I was wondering what one was six months ago... ). Although not having nearly as large a platform as Delirium, it uses the square-drop mechanism. I actually prefer the pie-cut floor - I personally think it not only looks cooler, but is cheaper and more simple to construct and maintain. How much of a hassle would it be if the square floor malfunctioned? You'd have to somehow get down below the floor to repair it...that could be trouble.
  20. Tucker's has THE B-E-S-T popcorn chicken I've EVER HAD. It's a must-do for me whenever I go to the park. Price may be high, but it's a vacation from the food ordinary!
  21. Infrastructure improvements/replacement/upgrades wouldn't surprise me at all. I doubt that the real electrical heart of the park has been totally revamped since the park was built - but then again, I'm not anywhere near knowledgable on the topic. Can anyone else help?
  22. If you're peeing your pants that frequently about it, why not just go down there yourself? Whenever I get the itch, I just drive down there myself (even though it may take a half hour to arrive and another half hour to leave). There probably isn't anything major happening now that all of the bigger stuff has been assembled.
  23. I don't think anyone knows what The Beast is supposed to be. The closest animal that comes to mind is The Beast from Beauty and The Beast. Doesn't help, but oh well. If I could pick what The Beast was, it would be a cross between a lion, a bear and a wombat.

    2005 Poll

One also has to remember it's not really how many G-forces you experience, it's how long you experience them for. Your face can pull up to 20-Gs (no joke) when you sneeze, but does it hurt? No; at least it shouldn't. Delirium pulls 4.5 (I believe) Gs over your whole body and boy can you FEEL it. There are also lateral forces, too.
  25. I prefer WATCHING people do Dance Dance Revolution. It's great to see people make complete goofs of themselves. And what about that Simon Says thing where Skylab used to be! All I can say is that someone would have to PAY ME to do that thing!
