Site was down this morning and popped up a great photo of you working on the solution lol.   But you need to update the photo as you have lost quite a bit of weight!

Didn't think phones were allowed to be used on rides at KI :) :) :)

I personally wouldn't be against this as from the video I watched of the bubble show at Dollywood, it looks like a very cool, funny, and interactive show. I love how they bring guests up to help with the show. While I loved Phantom, Its understandable why they're going with a different show as most shows do 2 year runs.

I agree but this show just seems to waste an opportunity for a proper stage producton.  I'm sure the show will be fine, I just think it would be better in the small theatre in Planet Snoopy.  Not sure how re-watchable it will be but I'll be willing to give it a chance.

I think the DOJ is thinking exactly what you’re saying; however I don’t think it’s true in the theme park context. They’ll have to make certain concessions, but it’ll go through eventually. Just my guess

Yea I would agree, unfortunately.  In the past 40 years there has been too many mergers that create monopolies, mostly because of businesses giving influencing our politics on both sides (thanks citizens united).  Toatally runining the ability of free markets to keep down prices.

TBH i know the cuts and prices going up suck but also ive been going there my whole life, nothing will stop me from going, even if i dont agree with an option the park makes, theres nothing we can do about it. Just cause you say youre not going to go, thats not going to affect the park at all if 1 person dont go. I love Kings Island and alway have. So i will support the park by getting  a pass every year and making memories. Does it suck some of my good friends dont work there anymore, yes, yes it stinks. But theres nothing you or i can do about it. I feel bad for them 2 of the park ambassadors were good friends of mine. But day in and day out is a business decision. Good luck and hope you return to Ki! :)

Totally agree.  Part of this is the result of the passes being extended an additional year.  CF won me when they made that decision as early as they did.  Season passes are still the best deal around for the money.

  5. I can understand them looking into it but I would be worried about a monopoly being formed.  SIX and FUN remaining seperate would keep the capitalist gear of competition going to help drive down prices.  Remember the game Monopoly was originally invented to warn AGAINST the formation of monopoies.  Capitalism completely falls apart without  competition.

That being said it could be seen that even with the merger competition would still exist between the new entity and smaller parks, zoos and other forms of entertainment.

    Just a thought.

When KI originally did , yes. I would be one to say it still has the themed areas, just nowhere near as much as they used to be, except for maybe Rivertown. The rest of them have dwindled down theme wise. If they do start using IP theming though, especially throughout the front area near kiddie lan and Action Zone, i wouldn't be mad about it. Action Zone needs theming redone desperately, and could make for a great DC Action Zone. kiddie land is fine, but the more characters the merrier I say.

I'm a little concerned about mixing CF and SIX IP's at the same park.  With as often as parks seem to be trading hands the more IP's at a park the messier and possibly less lucrative the sale would be (having to re-name rides aka when CF bought Paramount).  With CF and SIX being a merger I can see each keeping with their own IP's.  (Can you imagine if they renamed Orion to the Blue Beetle? lol)

I thought KI finished the year strong with Winterfest this season. The Christmas Lights were incredible and were probably the best out of all of the parks I visited with their respective Christmas events. Although I think a lot of people would agree, the coaster lineup for Winterfest leaves much to be desired.

The food offerings were definitely a step up compared to the offerings during the regular season. My favorite meal offering being The Shepard's Pie. The second thing that came to mind after "Yum!" was "Where has this been all season?!" :P

The merchandise has been fantastic and, in my opinion, has been that way for the season. It was nice to see merch make its way from Knotts to the park in time for Winterfest.

Absolutely agree.  Fantastic finish.  I don't mind the coaster line-up for Winterfest.  I'm going there for lights, shows, food and atomosphere.  The coasters are just a bonus and it wouldn't bother me at all if they were not open for the event.

That being said I do wonder if they will have Soapbox open for Winterfest next year.  Havinig a kids coaster open for Winterfest, in my opinion, would be a nice addition and not leave out the kids on riding a coaster in cold weather :)

What looked like it was going to be an insanely busy night last night at the park, I was shocked it wasn't terrible crowd wise.

First thing once in the park, was a ride on Flight of Cheer....I hadn't been on it since August and we sat in the 3rd row. Leg room was extremely tight, but I was able to get buckled in. The ride experience itself was actually really good. It was the smoothest that I remember it being but probably because of location in the train. Of course, they were only operating 1 train, so I'm glad we did it before the line could get long.

Afterwards we grabbed dinner at Coney BBQ....turkey with gravy (I had no idea they added gravy) and corn soufflé, both were yummy! The rest of the night we pretty much just spent it walking around checking out the lights,. We rode the Holly Jolly Trolley and it was a fun little experience for as simple it was, thankfully we had Scrooge onboard entertaining us with his condemnation of the guests in the way of the trolley, "we will run you over." We grabbed a ride on the train as well and oh lord....the fact that the 12 days of Christmas song ended around light display 6 and 7ish....was kinda funny to me. It was a great ride overall. Mystic Timbers gave a great ride. We did the single rider line and rode separately, though we did get on the same train.  I was paired with a kid in the front row and he was not happy sharing that "I wanted to ride alone," as I had already sat down and the gates were closed. He was fine after the ride op told him I was supposed to ride. The ride was a great one though. In a way, In a way I almost prefer 2 train ops on Mystic because the wait in the shed is a little less (it makes me feel claustrophobic).

We kind of just walked around the rest of the night, with a stop in Action Zone for tubing during the parade, minimal wait was nice! I had to crack up because I kept hearing the ride op phone at Drop Tower ringing and ringing and ringing. Once we completed that, it was almost time to decide on food for the 2nd meal. I wasn't really in the mood for anything specific but we wanted to make sure our last meal plan of the season was worth the redemption. We started at the Mac n Cheese Bar...after standing in line for about 5-10 minutes because 2 women in front of us weren't sure what to get, I looked at the options and the didn't seem appetizing so we bailed. Ended up at Grain and Grille....I didn't want anything there but pierogis so that's what I ended up with. 3 sides of pierogis, aka 9 total. They were yummy and filled my stomach for the rest of the night.

We walked through the shops and there just was nothing that I had to have...merch kinda recycled from the main season and/or stuff I already had. Prices on some things were reasonable while other things I would never pay.

The end of the night came and I can say that I enjoyed myself this time around. The only 2 things I wish would have improved was the food options and the merch options.

My favorite offering at Winterfest is the Meatloaf burger at the Brewhouse.  The tangy ketchup and cheese is amazing and it litterally tastes like a meatloaf in burger form.  Went to the park twice this Winterfest just to have it!

Least years don’t work. It’s the barcode, not the design that helps differentiate

snow machines were cranking all night from where I saw -didn’t see tinkers tonight so can’t say for that, but the ones on I Street were.

    Good to know.  Thanks!

  10. Nice night at the park tonight (Wed.)  Crowds were not bad at all.  Not too busy and not to empty, just right.

Took 2 of the grandkids and was hoping to get them Wonder Wands and they were SOLD OUT.  Amazing how even without the proper hype leading up to the event that these are no longer available!  They said they were trying to get some shipped in from Carowinds and hope to have them soon.  Obviously the price point was right and even with just word of mouth and social media these thing sold out quick.

Next thing I noticed was no snow machines were going in the park (not even the ones for the Tinker's show).  The show was still fantastic, the snow just adds that little bit of magic to it.

Parade was fantastic as always.  Props and thanks to all who are involved.  I feel lucky to have such a fantastic event close to home.

Only bad part of the night was my granddaugher lost her grey scarf with white poka dots on Snow Works.  She and her brother literally rode it till they closed it and she was the last one off.  We walked to the front gate and she realized she left it there (I guess there's a "box" to put stuff in that you don't want to go down a 20 foot hill with?)  We went back and checked with the security guards and they said they didn't find anything.  Filled out a lost and found report (that was a really well done app!) so hopefully it will turn up.

All in all a great night with the kids hope to make it back next week and hoping they'll have Wonder Wands this time!

Lastly is it me or are the mugs the same as last year?  Do the mugs from last year work for the $1 drinks this season?  Curious because we bought 2 tonight and now I have 4 of them and want to make sure I take the "right 2 back" if they indeed go off the year you bought them, tracking by bar code.

That price is dishonest.   Another Cedar Fair trick.  I know they aren’t the only one but it’s still not the real price.    They add a “processing” fee for doing absolutely nothing for a self serve online purchase.

As a programmer I feel the need to note that a "processing" fee has some validity to it.  Those websites don't write themselves and with the amount of cyberattacks increasing they are only getting more expensive to upkeep and maintain.  Not just the web site, but the webserver it is running on.

Poll ran on X. Thoughts on the results?

Actually ElToroRyan just posted a video about the merger that brings things into perspective rather nicely.  It's a MERGER.  Think of it like Sea World and Bush Gardens not Paramount and Cedar Fair, which was a purchase.  I don't see much changing in the next 2 years or so.  As far as Looney Tunes at CF parks the one I could see doing this would be Cedar Point turning one of their 3 kids areas into Looney Tunes (possibly the one on the main midway).

I think this is a much better solution than having CF get sold to another company.  Looking at the map of parks it doesn't look like there is much "competition" between SIX and CF in our market.  I'm optomistic about the change mostly because CF maintains controling interest in the stock.  It's kind of like children when a parent marries for the second time (like the movie StepBrothers).  At the beginning there is a bunch of pessimism from each side (I imagine SIX enthusiasts are having a similar reacton that we are) but at then end they will live happlily ever-after as Prestige Worldwide :)

Just had my first major disappointment with KI and wanted to warn everyone here.

I understand the "no re-entry after 6pm" for Haunt.  I went to KI this am to ride The Beast, Diamondback and have the Posiden dish at French Quater (it was fantastic!).  After the Bengals game I went to go pick up my grandson and take him to haunt for a couple of mazes and night rides on The Beast and they wouldn't let me in because "I was re-entering the park" after 6.  My understanding has always been that the meaning of that rule was that if you enter after 6pm (start of Haunt), you can't re-enter after 6pm.  The lady at the entry gate, her supervisor and 2 people in guest relations all said the same thing and how it was "clearly labeled".

Low and behold I got home and looked on the website and found this:

    image.png

Again, it says "during Halloween Haunt".  I inturpret this to mean that if you enter during Halloween Haunt, you can not re enter during Halloween Haunt.  And accroding to the webiste Haunt doesn't start till 6pm.  Again I did not leave the park after 6pm.  I left the part at Noon (which last I checked was not after 6pm)

On the calendar for October 8th it reads:

    image.png

So it seems that my interpretation of the rule was correct and according to the website I could enter Haunt (which started at 6) but not re-enter it once I left Haunt (after 6).

Just wanted to give this cautionary tale to others so they can be clear with what I experienced and what the policy says.

Very dissapointed in the confusing rule.   No biggie, just thought I'd let others know so they do get put in the same boat I found myself in.

      Oh well, live and learn.

    The saga continues.....

So I went to KI Saturday night (and Sunday).  On Saturday night I overheard the admissions person who scanned their passes explaining to the couple next to me that they couldn't re-enter after 6 (this was at 9pm).  They tried explaining that they had been in that morning and planned on coming back that night (same story as mine).  I went in and waited to see how this turned out and low and behold they were allowed entry into the park!  Two adults were allowed in after I, with my grandson, tried to get in at 7pm the Sunday before .  We were told there were no exceptions by the admissions person, their supervisor, and guest serveices.

Seems like some consistency in their policy is needed.

As I stated before it would make much more sense to "reset" the re-entry rule starting at 6pm since that IS when haunt starts and re-entry is allowed during the daytime event.
