  1. No details on how it started but this definitely seems suspicious... https://www.yourerie.com/news/breaking-news/fire-reported-at-the-blue-streak-roller-coaster-at-conneaut-lake-park/
  2. I worked at the donut stand during the holiday festival in 2006. It was a fun experience - those donuts were quite popular and we even managed to sell some Dippin' Dots as well (people were asking for them so the park put a Dippin' Dots cooler in the stand and added it to the register).
  3. The only time I've been up there since 2006 was for their Beach Mountain thing they had for a few years (and I wasn't impressed with that at all - if I'm going to drive 30 minutes I'll go do the real thing at Perfect North instead)
  4. I don't recall riding anything in my dream. There was also one of those swing ride things that you often see at county fairs - the long beam with a two-person seat on either end that swings in circles (vertically). Don't remember what it's called and can't find it on YouTube at the moment.
  5. Had a weird one last night. Sort of related to KI anyway. Got to work only to find out that there wasn't a lot to do that day and I ended up being one of the unlucky ones who got sent home. Upon going to my car at the very back of our lot I noticed that Camp Cedar just happened to be behind our lot (and accessible only from our lot for some reason). I remember thinking it was odd how I'd never noticed it before and went to check it out. It ended up being almost like an amusement park as well - in addition to cabins and such for rent, it had rides, including a red Vekoma SLC.
  6. Plans for a large giga and parking garage at Knott's have supposedly leaked. I'm not familiar with the park but it seems something taking up that much of the parking lot is a bit odd, and relying on a parking garage to handle much of your parking may not be the best option either given what happens when you try to squeeze hundreds of cars out of the garage at the end of the night. https://www.themeparksandentertainment.com/2021/12/knotts-berry-farm-giga-coaster-plans.html
  7. The 50th anniversary season is already going to be awesome - repaved parking lot, restored band organ and re-profiled/re-tracked Beast in addition to fresh paint on several attractions (Eiffel Tower, Drop Tower and Flying Ace). Makes me wonder what else they have in store that they haven't announced yet.
  8. Speaking of rides, Indiana Beach is giving Coney's former Flying Bobs a nice makeover.
  9. "Sorry! We could not locate the item you are trying to view.".
  10. Cedar Point has uploaded their 2021 Christmas video. Note the brief "going cashless" segment near the end...
  11. A construction contract has been awarded: https://www.constructionweekonline.com/projects-tenders/saudi-almabani-and-bbi-win-1bn-contract-for-six-flags-qiddiya
  12. Having worked at the beach in 2006, I can say they actually did draw some nice crowds at times. They always had various events going throughout the summer as well - teen dance parties, dive-in movies, concerts... However, things haven't changed at all attraction wise since sometime before then. In the meantime, KI's water park has expanded and the water park industry as a whole is far different than it was 15 years ago. It's a nice property but I don't think they could compete with Soak City and other area water attractions without some major additions/renovations, and spending money on a property that has been mostly closed (and forgotten by locals) for years is quite a gamble in my opinion.
  13. The restrooms aren't the only sketchy thing about that park, but it's still well worth a visit
  14. I went 5 years in a row (2015-2019) and never thought it was all that bad (though for comparison my only other major enthusiast event has been Coasterstock and my first visit to HW was for their Rock the World festival in 2014), but it's nice to see the park taking notice and wanting to improve the event for enthusiasts. I'm not entirely sure this is the best way to do things, but only time will tell. It will be particularly interesting to see how those who aren't picked react to the news.
  15. A closer look at the damage: https://www.ky3.com/2021/11/19/silver-dollar-city-staff-gives-inside-look-damage-3-buildings-fire/
  16. Several buildings were damaged by a fire at SDC yesterday. Fortunately nobody was injured. https://www.ozarksfirst.com/local-news/local-news-local-news/silver-dollar-city-reopens-after-fire-burns-down-multiple-structures-yesterday/
  17. I'll have to remember to catch up on all the fun stuff when I go on my first break at work on Tuesday (typically around 2:30 or so)
  18. I really need to make it out there at some point. I've been to every park within 3½ hours of Cincinnati except that one.
  19. It's a shame but at least they'll still have an antique car ride either way (though I liked the one in Frontiertown better than the one at the front of the park).
  20. I vaguely remember riding the monorail as a kid. I was 11 when it closed but we only went to KI about once a year so I don't remember a whole lot about the park growing up.
  21. Saturday was interesting. Things went down for a weather delay due to storms north of the park about 7:45 or so. I had planned on finishing off the last two and a half hours at the park with whatever I could get in Action Zone (Bat was a given, but since lines in that part of the park are typically long, I figured probably Banshee and Drop Tower but wasn't sure what else). Lots of people bolted at that point so everything was practically a walk on when things reopened 30 minutes later. That 30 minute delay ended up allowing me to get more rides in than planned. In addition to Banshee, Delirium and Drop Tower I also got a ride on Invertigo (best ride I've had on that coaster in a long time), Grand Carousel, Woodstock Express, Flying Ace and Surf Dog. The only coasters I didn't ride Saturday were Flight of Fear (didn't want to wait for it) and of course Great Pumpkin Coaster.
  22. I am as well. My only concern is that since it's Labor Day weekend, the park will be packed.
  23. I was up there for my sister's birthday last August. I mostly stayed in the kids area with my younger niece though so I don't know how many lifeguards there were in the main area. It was quite crowded though.
  24. I noticed a dumpster sitting outside the building recently. It'll be interesting to see how well the roller rink works out since there's another one not far from there (albeit off a side street and with limited parking)
  25. I haven't been in a couple of years but last time I was there on a Satruday, even with HoliWood Nights, the waits for Voyage and Thunderbird were 30-45 minutes tops.
