  1. That big grassy area is quite popular among sunbathers and those looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy the weather. I actually wish there were more grass in BB than there currently is. The older slides aren't likely going anywhere. There's a reason they've survived for 20 years - they're popular and they aren't a hassle to maintain.
  2. The original Son of Beast (with the loop and original cars) was one of my favorite rides. I rode it last month for the first time since the loop was removed, and decided that was enough for me. The constant shaking of the lighter cars makes the ride a lot less enjoyable for me, and somewhat more painful.
  3. Where exactly would they expand the waterpark? There's not a whole lot of room left in that part of the park unless they start expanding into the parking lot.
  4. I'll have to try 7-1 next time I'm there.
  5. I agree with mark on this one. I find 5-1 to be much smoother (and therefore more enjoyable) than other seats on Vortex, though the only other seat I've ridden frequently was 1-1.
  6. I'm up to 49. Was planning to get my 50th last Thursday, but the weather prevented me from doing my nightly last-hour DB marathon...
  7. I can't figure out why they would schedule a concert like that at Bogart's to begin with. I've never been there myself, but from what I've heard, Bogart's isn't exactly a family-friendly venue. Then there's the parking issue (though UC has plenty of parking this time of year).
  8. Somewhere back behind Racers near Action Theater.
  9. You can also get a great view of the fireworks from the area by Diamondback's station, particularly the patio by the food stand there.
  10. Hopefully everyone here will know what that has to do with Kings Island...
  11. There's a large concrete support post of some sort behind the ride op station at Zephyr. No clue what used to be there, but I'm sure someone else here can tell me what that's from
  12. The whole thing seems to be a joke... They only mention why they chose 10 of the 16 coasters, they show a computer rendering for El Toro, and then there are the typos and other mistakes.
  13. What is your favorite part of White Water Canyon at KI? If the option you want isn't on the list, let me know. These are the only ones I could think of right now... It's hard for me to choose, but I think my favorite part would be taunting the canon controllers. It usually ensures that you get soaked, and it's especially fun when the others in your boat are trying to avoid getting soaked...
  14. According to http://www.who.is, the pki.com domain registration doesn't expire until August 6th of 2013. However, the pgathrills.com domain registration expires on January 29th.
  15. I also miss the music because it gave each area its own atmosphere. You got elegant movie music on I-Street, classic country in Rivertown, kiddie music in HB/Nick... Now you've got a completely random variety of music playing in the main park, and classic rock in Boomerang Bay (though I never paid much attention to the music in BB prior to this year). I realize that CF doesn't like themes in their amusement parks (except for kiddie areas apparently), but they should at least do their best to go along with pre-existing themeing in each section of the park.
  16. Kids under 3 are free at KI, so you wouldn't need a ticket for him. You will still need a ticket for yourself though.
  17. This morning they were standing at the entrance to Gold Pass Parking (rather than at the stand about halfway into it) and strictly enforcing the rules. For whatever reason, they had cones set up to direct traffic a different way than usual, and I saw no less than two cars turning around after talking to the attendant because they didn't have a gold pass and couldn't read the signs...
  18. I'm also a big fan of Snowy River Rampage. I also like Syndey Sidewinder and Tasmanian Typhoon, but am not a big fan of the body slides. The wave pool is fun, but not as good as others I've been in (the one at The Beach and the one at Kentucky Kingdom).
  19. Funny moments from The Beast on Monday... The Beast crew acquired a fake rooster somewhere, perched it on the side of the drive box, and named it Bethany. According to Caitlyn, one of the ride ops: Bethany will bite you The Beast doesn't eat Bethany because he's friends with "her" Other funny moments from Caitlyn: The Beast went to OSU and has a law degree After getting a less than enthusiastic response to "how was your ride?": "What do you think this is? Vortex?"
  20. Great video. I love all the different angles and the catchy background music
  21. When Scooby Doo is walking around the park, he has a blue collar, but when he's part of Endless Summer on Ice, he has a red collar.
  22. In addition to things people have already mentioned (people hanging all over each other, basketballs, clothing, etc.): Being told by a merchandise manager not to "jump over the fence" after I climbed over the chain to avoid DB's gift shop (during ERT of all times) The removal of the in-car audio systems and the splashdown from BLSC Vortex only running two trains with a 30+ minute wait The M&M's machine giving me $3 in quarters for a $5 bill instead of dollar coins (though I'm wondering if this is done to encourage guests to visit the arcade)
  23. For me it would be a tie between FoF and WWC. FoF - I love the cheesy movie and the UFO (although the movie was better with the dim lighting and the point where they turned off all the lights). WWC - I love how this ride is way back in the woods and that you have such a long hike to get to it.
  24. Although I'm not really a fan of SOB anymore (it was one of my favorites with the old cars and the loop), I don't want to see it gone and I don't think it will be removed within the next 5 years. KI is still quite proud of that ride, despite its problems. I doubt they'd remove it unless there were a really good reason (maintenance costs, etc.)
  25. The price of the model on the CoasterDynamix website is $199.95...
