  1. Just for some help, King Bowser, what errors did you find in my article? I just want to make sure that all of my info is accurate before we print. Thanks! CoasterFreak273
  2. Hey guys. Thanks for all the replies, comments, etc. I did find all of my information accurate and true at www.enquirer.com including the bit about the accident the day before. I quote below: "All roller coasters at the park are inspected daily. The Son of Beast was shut down for 10 minutes the day before the accident because riders complained of a bumpy ride, park officials said. No problems were found that day. But the next day - the day of the accident - the ride remained closed for the first three hours of business as technicians worked on the part of the ride that riders said was bumpy and did a second inspection. That spot was not in the same area as the cracked timber." http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...7250342/0/CINCI I had never heard of the "day before accident" until I read this article. Apparently it is the only story to include the "day before accident." I really appreciate all of your comments! You guys are great! CoasterFreak273
  3. Apollo's Chariot is very comfortable! It makes your ride just so much more enjoyable! I also love how open they are. I also have to say that Millennium Force is comfortable and very open as well. It just adds to your thrill seeking experieance! Glad to see it up and running. I would love to take a trip to Nagashima sometime! It sounds like a Japanese equilivant of Cedar Point. So it's back to being the longest coaster in the world!
  4. Hello all! I just wanted to share with you an aritcle that I wrote for my school's newspaper. All of the information should be properly quoted and accurate but if there are any mistakes, do not feel shy to make me aware of them. I am really excited about it and I just would like to know your comments! Thanks!!! Published in The Striking Times, Villa Madonna Academy High School's Student Newspaper for the September Issue: *START* Son of Beast Takes the Plunge By: Mark Bailey “In some ways, this whole year has been a roller coaster ride for Kings Island,†writes Jessica Brown, Enquirer Staff Writer. On July 9th, 27 riders were injured and sent to the hospital when Son of Beast, a roller coaster at Paramount’s Kings Island in Mason, Ohio, malfunctioned during a run. Park officials released that on the day before the accident, Son of Beast was shut down because riders complained of “a bumpy ride.†Operators opened up the ride 10 minutes later after inspectors tested and cleared the ride. Inspectors discovered a cracked vertical timber that may have caused the sudden jolt during the ride. The problem has been narrowed down to three possible structural issues: wood strength, maintenance, or design. Out of the 27 riders, two law suits have been filed. Crissie Lorick, 29, suffered a fractured sternum, several fractured ribs, bruises, and sprains. Lorick’s daughter, Natasha Burris, 13, and a friend, Weldon Shaffer III, 34, were also injured during the ride. They were given a total of $22,900 for medical bills and suit claims. Melissa Eberle, in her 20’s, another passenger on the rough run, also suffered a fractured sternum. She remained in Bethesda North Hospital for four days after the accident receiving pain medication. "She's got an extremely painful and debilitating injury," Eberle’s attorney stated. "I don't anticipate it being operational before they close for the season," said LeeAnne Mizer, spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Agriculture. "These investigations take weeks and months. We are by no means done.†The $20 million dollar offspring of the record breaking Beast was repaired last week and park and state officials are pleased with the progress of the repairs. They are now testing the ride using “water dummies,†rider-shaped, water-filled, testing devices to simulate the weight of riders. Trains are also said to be equipped with sensors that detect G-forces and overall roughness of the ride to ensure the safety of thrill-seeking guests. *END* Sooooo... whadda ya think!?!? 5. I miss the SoB as well, no pun intended. lol Great movie! "In some ways, this whole year has been like a roller coaster ride for Kings Island," writes Jessica Brown, Enquirer Staff Writer. She hit the nail on the head! CoasterFreak273
  6. My friend and I are plotting to win the lottery, buy King Cobra, and put it up in his backyard. I would let all members of the fourm on for free, by the way! lol Who want's to chip in in case the whole lottery part falls through? Any takers???
  7. I sure hope your right FlightofFearGirl because that ride is just boss! I am so glad that they replaced the over-the-head restraints with the comfortable lab bars a while back. It really improves the quality of the ride!
  8. All I know is that the MAXX PASS looks like the perfect one for me! Now all I need is the money... Hmm...
  9. Unfortunately, I can honetly say that I had an issue at Cedar Point this past summer. MF was closed for repairing a certain part that the park could not tell the public (as usual...) but TTD was open. I had been on every other ride in the park with about an inch or two to spare. Now I am a pretty big guy at 6'2 280ish pounds. I got all the way up on the Dragster train and the darn seatbelt had about an inch to go! I was outraged at how rude the ride attendent was to me. He said, "either adjust yourself or get off." Now this was my first time not being able to fit on any ride. As I got off, I realized that there were two other older guys actually smaller than me getting off. I got really emotional and just had to sit down and cry. It was so embarassing and so depressing but it was a really big wake up call. I had never been overly concerned with getting fit, but that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I plan on going up to CP and riding Dragster next summer, come hook or crook! Keep your head up and just enjoy the ride, literally! Markus
  10. ^ Did you really just say that... Did you not take physics yet or something? Everything falls at 9.8 meters per second; which means that as you fall further, you gain more and more speed until you reach terminal velocity. Terminal velocity is when the object falling cannot fall at a quicker speed due to air resistance on the object. Drop Zone is not nearly as tall or as fast as Sonic Boom is. Hense why Sonic Boom is faster...
  11. Wow, there are way too many to name, but I am sure we need some big coaster, like The Beast, to come to the park and make it known to the world. Cedar Point came out with both MF and TTD and now SFGA came out with KK. PKI needs some type of hyper/giga coaster to put us on top of others. We have been somewhat slow with coming out with rides that are top of the line. IJST was cool and all but we need an awesome one!
  12. ...hehe... I guess im in trouble then... I take pictures on the rides all the time... I always secure my camera tightly around my wrist and hold on with it with two hands because well, it is a $500 digital camera! I also took some on ride movies of some of the rides. I know I'm bad , but its soo cool to go home and watch on your TV or computer! If anyone wants to see some, i can e-mail them to you. Send me an e-mail at coasterfreak273@yahoo.com.
  13. ...OKAY THEN..... Anyways, I still wish they could put SOME padding on the seats, because for tall people like me that can barely fit their shoulders in the harness and have to slouch a bit, it can be a tad bit painful on my rear end and my spine even. It could only enhance the 'Already Amazing Atmosphere' of the ride.
  14. LOL! That's hilarious! I did hear a rumor though that Delirum is sinking into the ground. That sounded completely bogus when I heard it but it has been closed down every time that I have visited the park except for one time. I'm guessing that it's just my luck that it's closed because the ride is freaking amazing! But, can we lay this rumor to rest that it's fine?
  15. I still wish they had kept King Cobra up and running instead of the trains sitting in the FoF building and the track in a deserted field disassembled. I think they should have put Delirium in the space by FoF and AE or just moved KC back by The Beast and The Racer if PKI owns some extra land back there. I know for a fact that The Beast leaves the park's official border but there has to be some space somewhere left. I miss the Cobra. And I always thought that they spelled it like King Kobra instead of King Cobra. But after looking all over the net, it's deffinately Cobra. Anyways, I'm rambling, thats it! LOL!
