  1. My daughter and I wanted to say thanks to everyone who was involved with planning such a fun day. We a really good time and we were sorry that we had to leave right after dinner. We would have loved the ERT on The Beast, but had to get home early. Thanks again to everyone. Is was cool getting to meet all of you and we hope to see you again soon. BTW, if anyone knows all the answers to the scavenger hunt we would love to know what they are! Thanks again, Mark & Mara

  3. I saw this show yesterday and was totally dissapointed. The skaters are talented! The set/light design is awesome! Seeing Yogi and Scooby is great! The show itself was a let down. There is no continuity to the show. Or should I say that it needs more continuity. It needs some sort of narration or transition to get you from one theme to the next. The best thing for me was that it was cool inside. I'm looking forward to seeing Twistin' to the 60's.
  4. Put the "Park" back into amusement park is a great quip, Stewart32. With it being so close the the Carousel it would be nice to have a Ferris Wheel in there, even if it isn't a giant wheel like the one at CP. I think it would be neat to also have a couple of quiet flat rides like an old style swings or maybe even a miniature train ride..... I also think it would be great to have an old school, band stand like the ones you see at the park in old musicals. It would be great to have a resident band or invite outside bands to come in and play. When I say "band" I mean brass, percussion, you know, marching/big bands. You could do so much with that setting to entertain people in a relaxing shaded area.
  5. I rode TR:TR yesterday and while the ride seemed to be a little longer than usual, there were no sounds or effects to speak of. I was wondering if the sound is gone becuase of it not being a "Paramount" park anymore. If I remember, there were sound bytes of John Voight talking about the movie throughout the ride especially at the end. I don't imagine thay can use those anymore. As well as the pre-show movie. Just a thought. I did not like the ride at all without the sound effects. Even if the dripping water, sparks, water/lava spouts and all don't work it needs sound.... doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to make a new sound track...even if it was just music... what thinks you?
  6. This is the first time in 30 years that I have been able to get to KI on Opening Day. We had a blast and were even lucky enough to hit Season Pass Processing when the line was only about 10-15 mins. This may be normal for Opening Day, but all of the coasters we rode with the exception of Top Gun, were stacked up in the stations. Our train on The Beast ran the entire course and returned to the station before the next train had left. Then we sat for about 7-10 mins waiting for our turn to unload. I think it was just because of it being the first day. At least I hope that is it, because wait times are gonna be terrible if ride opps can't get things moving faster. Like I said, we rode Top Gun and it was moving pretty quick, IJST, Racer, and Beast had all trains in the station at all times when we were on them or anywhere near enough to see them throughout the day. Maybe someone who works there can tell me if this is becuase of "first day" operations or maybe becuase Cedar Fair has some new loading procedures that we didn't notice. Let me finish by saying that EVERY emplolyee we had the chance to talk to was very friendly and did a great job. Keep up the good work! We'll be back next weekend!
  7. This may have already been posted, but as the 2007 season is almost underway, and the park is under new ownership, I have been wondering about this. Will our souvenier mugs from last year work at the park this year? If anyone knows please advise. Thanks! See you on the 21st!
  8. During the summer I really enjoy sitting on the benches in front of Festhaus along the side of the pond. It's peacful and relaxing, and my kids can ride Viking Fury over and over without me. During Fearfest it's gotta be in front of Starbucks... watching people get scared! KI RULES!
  9. One season as we were boarding The Beast there was a package of cigarettes in the seat. I was holding them in my hand as the train went up the lift and the Ride Op came over the speaker and announced that smoking was STRICTLY PROHIBITED on the ride. My friend and I cracked up laughing because neither of us has ever smoked. I lifted my hands up and shouted, "I"m not smoking them!" and they said, "Please keep your hands inside the car!" We laughed even harder that time. We just threw them away when we got off the ride. It's funny, but I had forgotten about this until I read this thread. Funny stuff!
  10. The Keelboat Canal was always a fave of ours! I miss Skylab too.
  11. A LITTLE off topic!? You said it! HaHa! However it would be cool to get two used (new to most of us) coasters!
  12. I noticed on the site that they are holding auditions for Ice Skaters on Thursday, Feb. 22. Anyone think we might get a Snoopy themed Ice Show? I think it would be great. We love Snoopy and the Peanuts gang. Of course we would enjoy a well produced Ice Skating Show without the dog too! Reminds me of the good old days when there was an Ice show in Festhaus. Counting down to opening day! SP4L Go Colts!
  13. Here's a report of our trip to Nick or treat and fearfest on Sept. 30th. We arrived around 1PM and were pleased that the parking lot was not overflowing We really liked the decorations on the outside of the park, especially the King Cobra cars with skeletons in them. The decor in the park was really good too. I don't know how to compare it to any previous years being that this is the first chance we've had to visit in October. We met up with some family at Starbucks for coffee and to decide where to start. We finally ended up letting the kids, 10, 12 and 16 decide what to do. Here's the order of the rides we did get on. Bumper Cars, FX Theater (Clown Chaos), Adventure Express, Eiffel Tower, Viking Fury, Fairly Odd Coaster, Avatar and that was it. We all love rides and usually are trying to ride every coaster in the park but this time we actually enjoyed walking around the park checking out the decorations and enjoying the great weather we had. We finally ended up sitting down (back at Starbucks again) and waiting for Fearfest to start. Fearfest was AWESOME. Even our 10 year old loved it. She has only been through one haunted house and freaked out when we went through it but she seemed to do ok with all that was going on around the park. We tried to avoid Scare Zones when possible just for her sake. The only FF attraction we got to do was Headless Hollow and we loved it. It was really funny how many people honestly seemed shocked that we had to get off the train! LOL The walk back was fun. Especially the really thick fog that they had going on a few times. You honestly couldn't see where you were going, who was in front of you. Really creepy! International Street was really cool. The "creeps" there did a really good job and just getting out of the park can be challenging for people who scare easy. They have a TON of fog going at the front gates. LOVED IT! I think that one of the greatest decorations for FF is the way that the Eiffel Tower is light with blacklights. That was TOTALLY AWESOME. We plan to go back this weekend or next without our 10yo so that we can experience all of the Scare Zones and Mazes. If you are into the whole Holloween season and like haunted houses you need to go to KI Fearfest!
  14. I'll have to check the address of the house but I do know that it's not too far east of Post Road, on the north side or the street.
  15. Yeah, I knew that it was at SFKK the last time we went. But, we haven't been there in a few years so I wasn't sure anymore.
  16. This may be the wrong place to post this. Yesterday I was driving down E. Washington Street in Indianapolis. In the front yard of a house there is a shoe (car) from the old Flying Dutchman. I thought that the ride was moved to SFKK in Louisville so this could be from another one but sure enough, a big yellow shoe with the lap bar and everything sitting right in the front yard of this house. I would LOVE to have one of these for our yard. I think it would make a great swing for the kids. Anyone know where I could find one? Anyone every seen this one that I'm talking about?
  17. Neither one of those rides queue areas have ever seemed as dark as SCATHC or FOF. At least in my observation.
  18. Back at the park again yesterday and on both SCATHC and FOF the bright lights were on in the queue areas. I think that it's a safty thing that is being done since CF took over. Anybody else notice this or even care about it? I think that it's a shame to have great lighting effects and themeing and it not be able to be used to it's fullest extent. At the same time I can appreciate CF wanting your park experience to be a safe one.
  19. Yeah, I'm talking about the work lights in the queue areas. Not the actual ride areas. When we were in line for Sooby the black lights didn't even have any effect because of the bright flourescent lights that were on. At Flight of Fear there were VERY bright Halogen lights on and when the video got to the part where all the lights go out they stayed on. It didn't even seem to get any dimmer in the room. The lines for both rides were really short last Monday, but if you had to wait very long it would be nice for the effects and atmophere of the line areas to be working and not ruined by bright lights.
  20. Was at the park 8/14/06. Noticed that the work/clean up lights were on for the lines at Scooby Doo Haunted Mansion and FOF. It really killed the atmosphere for both of those areas. Has anyone else noticed that? Do you think it is the CF influence? Just thought I'd ask. We had a great day a the park considering that we didn't get there until around 4 PM. Crowd was low and weather was good. This was the first time I had been since the front ticket booths had been removed. When did that happen?
  21. Browntgrr, I see your point about seasonal and year round parks. I should have explained that I've been to Disney and Universal in the busiest seasons and they still have things down for repair and refurbish. You would think they would use the off season for such things but they don't. That's the comparison I was making. Sorry for not being clear about that. As for PKI, when we were there last Monday there were plenty of rides open to ride. I had friends with me who do not have passes and they were fine with what was open and what wasn't. They were dissapointed about Tomb Raider and Delerium but they still had a very good day.
  22. We were there on Monday, 4/17 and had a really good day. My 9 yo daughter and her friends LOVED Nick U. All of the adults in our group liked the fact that we could ride the new rides with our kids. Avatar is a great ride and I honestly think that it would do well anywhere in the park. It's for sure not just a kid ride! The park looked pretty much the same as always except for being so early in the season some of the flowers had not grown much or were just not planted yet. That will happen over time so no worries there. I keep reading about customers not being rude to employees but wanted to say that one of the employees was apparently very rude to my sister and her son. I wasn't with them at the time so won't go into things I don't really know about. I think that kindness definatly has to go both directions. It seemed to me that most of the employees were very friendly. Maybe even more friendly than I have experienced in the past. As far as ride closings... it's crazy to act like they should discount admission or give you money back if a ride you wanted to go on is broken down or closed for refurbishing. Even if the park is closed all winter that doesn't mean thay can do it all then. There are some things that can't be done when the weather is too cold. Anyone ever go to Disney? There are always attractions closed for refurbish or repair. It's just something that happens at Theme parks. Deal with it and go ride something else. You would think that half the park was closed the way some of you are acting! LOL Now lets get to my two complaints. Food prices are just stupid this year. Why anyone would buy food at PKI is beyond me. We always try leave and go eat somewhere near by and it saves us an average of $30 to $40 dollars for the day everytime. I figuered it up. You can go to Outback, which is very close to PKI on the north side and eat a full meal for what you can buy lunch for the family at PKI. The only thing we buy is $2 refills for our souviner mug from last year. (Although we do like to buy the mini doughnuts next to La Rosa's) Secondly, I have to say that the one thing I'm really sick of is the state of the walls at the end of The Racer. It is absolutly GROSS. They don't even look like they were touched over the winter (I'm hoping that was because you can't paint in the cold and it will happen soon). Please someome get this fixed. Over all I would say that our day was a smashing success. We will be back next weekend if possible and the following weekend and the next.... well. you get the picture. I just can't wait till the park is open on Mondays every week, it's my day off. We drive from Indianapolis by the way. There are 12 of us all together that have season passes and we LOVE PKI! Hope to hear you screaming on The Beast soon!
  23. Tomb Raider doesn't have a waiting area for kids without parents. I would advise that you do the swap there becuase kids have to wait outside of the building. We have done the parent swap there a few times and it works out well.
  24. HA HA... too funny... you guys are arguing over Chili and RailRider was referring to the ACTUAL skyline of PKI! LMAO
