  1. And, oddly, Kentucky Kingdom opened the week before Kings Island that year. What was playing in their motion theater? That same HB movie, of course!

It was odd that Kentucky Kingdom opened earlier?

  2. It's from a movie called Fresh Horses or something like that. It was filmed in Cincinnati back in the eighties, starred Andrew McCarthy and Molly Ringwold.

    You beat me to it!

    Ahhh, Old Winterfest.

That movie would be from 1988 and titled "Fresh Horses". And yes, it features WinterFest from Kings Island. And yes, that was the only movie to ever have been filmed at Kings Island.

MTV has filmed a couple shows at Kings Island before. That includes Rob & Big who filmed and episode at the park, and Nick Lachey (back when he was married to Jessica Simpson) and had the show "Newlyweds" filmed at an episode at the park.

    Not exactly true.

Yes, the only movie I can think of that so prominently featured the park.

But the park/various location has been used many times for TV Spots, Video's, etc.

Some spots you'd never even know that they were shot in a theme park.

I'm pretty certain that every amusement park does such things.

  3. Among the many things to be thankful for....Cedar Fair has had enough pricing integrity, even in these tough times, to keep Bring A Friend Free day in the past at the Paramount Parks, where it rightfully belongs. Bringing a friend free to see the park under its most difficult circumstances, with way more people than it could comfortably handle, was not one of Paramount's smarter moves.

    Yeah!

Like there were soooooo many of those!

  4. ^^I have to be honest, CW's attendance record sort of deserves an asterisk*** since CW is pretty much the only good amusement park for one of the world's biggest cities!! I mean, Darien Lake is close by, and I'm assuming Le Ronde is pretty close, but CW has the market well cornered!! But I guess it seems Kinzel isn't too heart-broken about CP being dethroned.

So Six Flags Over Georgia would get an asterisk as it's next to a city of 5 million with no other major park by?

CW is a major pull for those in and outside of Canada.

    No asterisks needed.

  5. And then there was the Opening day in April when temps were in the 30's and it was snowing. The decision was to close the park early but early was 5pm/6pm. We actually were wearing the Winterfest Parkas. Prior to Paramount's Winterfest, the event never closed due to "Inclement" weather. After all, it's a winter event.

Also, you have to remember 40 degrees in TX is different than 40 degrees in Ohio. Folk in the Southern Regions don't handle the cold temperatures as well. They simply don't have the clothes to keep them warm for an extended period of time.

  6. The Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks are well aware that the only way to get most guests to buy their substandard food at their high prices is to restrict them from leaving (Six Flags even has tried no re-entry policies) and/or keep them from bringing in outside food and drink. There was a time when Kings Island allowed picnic baskets.

Yes, but paramount put an end to the picnic baskets.

Isn't it interesting that as the food quality decreased and the price went up that the no food policy was instituted?

  7. It was the exact same last year, which is how I ended up trading a SFOG pass and some boot for a SFGAd pass in order to get parking. They wouldn't even sell me parking for my SFOG pass at SFOG on opening day last year! Finally, Cedar Fair got its act together on passes, and there are still differences from park to park at Six Flags. Sigh.

Last year SFOG just mailed me my pass in the mail and told me to go on line to activate it.

Maybe they'll do that again this year.

I certainly won't buy a pass without parking attached.

  8. Where Will Oil Go from Here? Goldman Says $45, Iran Says $100:

    http://seekingalpha.com/article/110604-whe...5-iran-says-100

I've actually been very proud of everyone around the world in implementing such a sharp downturn in oil demand. Who would have actually thought it possible?

And though we know that Iran is a crazy country, I think that the Opec ministry will absolutely lose their shirts if they raise the price to $100 per barrel.

I had thought that people would all of a sudden start driving again when the prices fell below $1.50. At least in Atlanta (a city that will drive to go across the street) many of folk are still car pooling and riding Marta.

  9. Same story last year. Parking IS for sale at Great Adventure...at least it was last week. It doesn't, however, show up as an option until the second screen. It was $45, tax included.

Know also you cannot get in ANY other Six Flags park until your pass is processed, and you must process at the park where bought...unless you are renewing...in which case processing is unnecessary.

    Terpy, who knows this...from experience.

No, I made it all the way to the pay screen and there was no option.

I even went through as if I was not renewing the pass and there was no option.

    Very Odd.
