  1. I think some of the issue with some disability guests and water slides especially those needing equipment for mobility is the fact is how do the get the equipment back to the guest when they get to the end of the attraction to include doing it in a timely manner. Both Disney water parks actually have some water-slides that do have elevators. I also hope we see more parks offering the stair less water attraction like Holiday World. That type of system is great for leaving towel shoes or to be able to meet back up with your party after riding.
  2. Maybe the money they make off of the Fast Lane can be used to upgrade to digital networked signboards. Now for my suggestion; I would love to be able to add my KI/CF Platinum Pass to my KI mobile app to be scanned as I enter the gates or use it to get discounts at discount locations. Kind of like the Key Ring app does, you take a picture/scan your pass/reward card and then assign/title it. Then when you go to that retail location you pull up that card bar-code on your smart phone to be scanned. Less I can carry in the park the better especially with thrill rides. Here is a link to the website that may explain it better. Key Ring that same process could be added to a company mobile app to give it that wow factor. I use this app all the time and love that I no longer need to carry those cards in my wallet. Also a video of it for a quick explained demo. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7lapDedJQdo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Now if you can do that I would use the KI app on every trip to the park.
  3. The best thing for me since I joined KICentral was having the opportunity to meeting so many great fellow members here. Some of you have become close friends and I cherish our friendship In past years it seems many of the members here have gotten together in some ways to include going to Holiday Festivities together or to go bowling on a Saturday afternoon. It seems we all long for theses types of get togethers during the off season and I am sure this off season will be no exception to those meet-ups. As of now no plans for a KIC off season get together but I am sure in due time there will be something. Until then feel free to post a meet-up opportunity at some of the holiday festivities coming up soon.
  4. Since this is a rumor at this point I just merged those post with this one. Happy Halloween Everyone!
  5. So next time maybe you should say hey I was present during that conversation and that is not what happened instead of " I know your sup personally and she would never do something like that". Because when you state it like that it makes it look like you where sticking up for your friend because you know her and my point would be valid. Now if you said I was there during that conversation then there would have not been any problem in calling someone out like that. Have a great last operational weekend.
  6. Great I am glad you are there every night as a guest or worker KI and most of us guest appreciate your service/patronage. As for my comments and your response 2 weeks later, the question still stands; were you there?
  7. Congratulations Dustin on fifty posts. Most vets will tell you it does not matter the number of post you make but the quality of your overall post/s from 1 - 10,000. Basally if one post silly stuff most of the time they will be thought of as a silly newbie or vet. let me add you can leave and reenter before 7PM but you may not leave and reenter after 7PM unless you use a new unused valid ticket or a season pass in your name that was not used earlier in the day for entry into Kings Island.
  8. I thought after 5 weeks of Haunt and 4 weeks of Howl o Fest it would be interesting to see how the KICentral community feels about the events as a whole and compared to years past If you care to share what you really enjoyed or would rather see done away with. Also feel free to share your thoughts and suggestions. I was fortunate enough to get in a few visits this year and thought Kings Island did a great job entertaining the guests in offering something for everyone likes. Not sure how they could improve on Howl O Fest as it offers so much and a family could spend a lot of time there. Halloween Haunt I thought was great fun and I enjoyed a variety of houses and mazes this year to include Mysteria. I thought the new Scare Zone, Maze and House offered something unique and hope they offer more of that in the future. Trick or Treat with the Dinosaurs was a fun event i enjoyed doing with my family and it seemed to do well. My suggestions is basically for Haunt. Even though I truly enjoyed the houses I felt (believe it or not) that less scareactors would be better to build anticipation in the house and the money be used for more/better props to build the story line. Or use the money to have more scareactors roaming in the scare zones. I really enjoyed watching the activities and scaring at the scare zones. Just for laughs, offer a comedy show next year. Next suggestion I need to explain a bit before I make the suggestion. Here in Indy a great many schools have went with the Balanced school schedule, tons more next year and within a few years almost statewide. I noticed many of my acquaintances that have children decided to take their families over to KI these past 3 weekends due to their children being on Fall Break (out for two weeks) which may have contributed to some of the large crowd sizes to include the great weather this year too. One of my visits was on a Saturday night and I could not help notice that many families stay past 7PM and many of my acquaintances said they stayed over to enjoy the Haunt part with their families as well. It seems families are looking to do haunt events as a family and I was told just this morning that several families have decided to make it a weekend ordeal next year as a group of families. I wonder if maybe Kings Island should consider toning the Saturday nights down a bit not a lot but make it more family friendly to keep the crowds coming in and honestly I am surprised to hear so many families from Indy going over this year during their first Fall Break. I see that trend growing tremendously and suspect that is the reason another park is going to offer a Fall Event starting next year. Fridays seem to do well but has room to add many more guests without the feeling the park is over crowded or that the lines where to long. So here is my suggestion Offer and advertise Extreme Scary Fridays to attract that crowd and to improve Fridays attendance. Since Saturdays are heavily attended by families who seem to want to do an haunted event as a family so they do not leave, build on that maybe offer a couple more family friendly haunted houses or a family dinner event. Basically they want to stay since they are already there so no need to run them off when they still have money in their pockets to spend. I mean the souvenirs sells could only improve with families in the park after dark. Offer a haunted parade. Many here have fond memories of doing Christmas events as a family through the years and I can see amusement/theme park fall events becoming a new family tradition as well. Who gets that crowd well it just depends who goes after them first to be the tradition park.
  9. I have been on a vey busy closing day an a not very busy closing day. It depends on things like weather or if the park offers a great last day deal and advertises it. I plan to attend like many of the KICentral community will. If it ends up being busy i will find five KICers to go in some Fast Lane passes for $30.00 I want to make sure I get some rides in before the season ends.
  10. Yes i enjoyed it an was happy I got to listen to it while working. Thanks for taking the time and sharing your thoughts about haunt
  11. Most who commit suicide are not thinking rationally. This is a sad story all the way around, everyone and thing loses.
  12. Yep on that day the gun was hitting everything with ease and numerous times too. As far as bursting my bubble nay I don't get that excited about it to the extent my bubble could get busted. I did take the picture of the score because I knew it was not extremely rare and not at all realistic. The point really of my post was to basically say do not take the scores on that ride as ones skill level in shooting type rides. I like the ride a lot but the guns are VERY hit and miss on on accuracies. A couple weeks ago trying at first my gun would not hit hardly anything to the point I just put it away in fact if there was a bubble to burst that gun would have missed it if it came from the said gun.
  13. Very sorry to hear about your father. Great pictures thanks for sharing some of your fathers pictures. I enjoyed see the park from his vantage
  14. When trying to cover a story or event at KI I often take my tripod in with me, I have yet been turned away because of it. I do not know for certain KI policy for tripod use but you can always check with guests relations prior to your visit.
  15. Nice report and glad you embedded the pictures on this one, i enjoyed seeing them. As far as getting good night camera shots, a tripod will be you best bet in getting what you want no matter what setting you decided to use. Carrying one of those through a park is a pain but a greater percentage of your photos will come out better. Otherwise there is a quality tradeoff from set go. Taking photos of a lighted ride or attraction with a long shutter speed often captures a very unique photo. Have fun.
  16. Outstanding, awesome, stunning, impressive, magnificent, astonishing, overwhelming and stupefy are just a few words that come to mind to describe your effort and history detail of this KI Halloween events. Thank you for taking the time to share with us TY!!! To everyone else, if you can relate to any of the words above in relation to TombraiderTY efforts or to describe your enjoyment of his report. Then please take a moment to click "Like This" on one of his posts above.
  17. Hey IndyGuy4KI great photos and report it was like I was there. Honestly I am disappointed I could not make the trip due to work issues. I enjoy hanging out and spending some guy time with you guys. When I woke up I was thinking "man I should had just sucked it up and went" but we ended up moving our family trip to Kings Island to Saturday so not all was a loss. I look forward to getting with the two of you soon. Again great job on the report it was one of you best.
  18. I think you may have missed my bigger point. I mean honestly Mr. Ouimet seems like the kind of guy whom is out to make a handsome profit giving the customers what they want and doing it in a professional but extremely friendly way.. It would make no difference if he got an award for it or not as he feels the guest satisfaction is the ultimate reward. things are good now but will be great soon.
  19. I can envision with Mr. Ouimet and company on board at Cedar Fair that the Golden Ticket for Friendliest Park may be passed around Cedar Fair parks in the coming years.
  20. This looks very promising. I think we have enjoyed and watched Cedar Fair become a major Brand with Mr. Kinzel and company at the helm and believe the choice of Mr. Ouimet will be the best decision for Cedar Fairs future. These appointments are in a way a great glimpse into how Cedar Fair will run in the future. One thing for sure it seems the successor has vision and is putting people he believes can carry out his vision. As I have said before exciting times ahead for everyone. Each chain of parks uses the social media to reach out to a variety of readers, sometimes it is to prompt impromptu visits from guests or to promote a special, while others may use the social media to reach out to the media, industry publications, and visitor and convention bureaus to give them updates or to promote a story idea. Each park must understand their market needs and to be in tune with its audience and adjust their posting to include everyone in a balanced way.
  21. Yes over planning can get the way of fun times on vacation and I believe under planning gets in the way of having the best time too. There is a balance and everyone knows what works for them best.
  22. So were you there? I was not so I could not say anything for certain. I could say I don't think someone would say that or that doesn't sound like something they would say. But to say I know with out being there is a bold statement considering it is saying some one is not being truthful.
  23. Trick-or-Treat with the Dinosaurs & Howl-o-Fest October is upon us and that means some of the best and more unique times are available at Kings Island. Many here will think that I am talking about Kings Island Haunt but that is only the half of it. Not only does Kings Island have excellent Halloween Haunt festivities to entertain their more mature guests but they also have one of the best if not the best kids Halloween fun festivities too. Of course I am talking about Kings Island How-o-Fest and new this year Trick-or-Treat with the Dinosaurs, which opened to large crowds on its opening weekend. This past weekend I got an unexpected opportunity to visit Kings Island and to enjoy most of October festivities Kings Island had to offer with my family. We arrived at Kings Island at about 1:30PM and headed straight back to the new Trick-or-Treat with the Dinosaurs inside the Dinosaurs Alive area of the park. We entered the worlds largest animatronic dinosaur park and wondered down the trail a bit, with so many Dinosaurs we felt almost surrounded by dinosaurs at times. Before long we came to a Trick-or-Treat station and my daughter Miss Rae asked for the treat as she did at most stations. We admired the size and majesty of some of the dinosaurs on exhibit. Some Treat stations offered apples or pick your own pumpkins. As mentioned earlier the Trick-or-Treat with the Dinosaurs opened with large crowds going through the trial and at one time there as a bit of a line to get a opportunity of a treat. This picture really shows the popularity of guest have in doing the Trick-or-Treat with the Dinosaurs. A very popular station was a dig up a colored dinosaur bone to get a designated prize. Finally Miss Rae decided to ask for a trick at one of the stations and got a trick she could not have ever imagined. Funny <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.phanfare.com/embed/1009485-5100347-139949412-d0c2b281dc57a0841eb312d916376e96" frameborder="0"></iframe> As Miss Rae’s bag started to fill up she began to get worried about some Dinosaurs sneaking up to steal some of her loot. Thankfully we managed to get to the end of the trail without losing any of the loot but gained some knowledge about dinosaurs and some great family memories, so then it was time for Miss Rae to claim a sweet victory with a pose. After the Trick-or-Treat with the Dinosaurs we decided to head over to Kings Island Howl-o-Fest located in the picnic grove for some more family fun filled activities to do together. We had a blast at Howl-o-Fest and there was so much to do which kept us very busy for a while experiencing all the activities. They even had a kid friendly house called Twisted Trails that the family did together. Inside they had free treat and fun kid items stations set up and Miss Rae added more loot to her already filled bag. Miss Rae spotted a Foam Pitt near a Dance Hall which had a DJ spinning fun dance tunes. We said no but after a while it seemed Miss Rae transformed herself into a werewolf and gave us her best growl to get or attention to convince us she really wanted to try out the Foam Pit. Knowing we had brought a change of clothes for Miss Rae for later we said OK as long as she danced one song with Snoopy on the dance floor. So into the Foam Pit Miss Rea went not to be seen for several minutes and emerged covered in foam to her total delight. Shortly after the Foam Pit fun we decide to catch the new Gave Yard Shift show showing in Festhaus . This way we could get something to eat while we get warmed up a bit while watching a great show. The Grave Yard Shift is a high energy show which includes many Seasonal favorites as well as some other popular songs altered a bit to make it very entertaining show. I am sharing this clip as it shows an example of what I mean as a fun song altered a bit to fit the show style. But also because I have always enjoyed some hammer time too. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.phanfare.com/embed/1009485-5100347-139975613-42fe6daa578b10f9c88ec353fbfb6fb3" frameborder="0"></iframe> We were very well entertained all through the show from start to finish. After the show it was getting a bit late and it was time to head out of the park as the more mature part of Kings Island Halloween festivities was getting ready. We truly enjoyed our day at Kings Island and enjoyed the great family activities at Howl-o-Fest but Trick-or-Treat with the Dinosaurs was our highlight for the day. I highly recommend that everyone take some time and walk the trail with their family to see the leaves on the trees changing colors while adding to their memories at Kings Island. In my honest opinion Kings Island offers as much fun activities for the children and their families during the fall days as they do for their thrill seeking mature guests during the Haunt evenings. Whatever you are into and enjoy Kings Island has something for you so make sure to visit before the season comes to a close. See you at the park soon Avatar/Jesse
  24. Great video BooddaH1994!!! The little ones are having a blast with Dinosaurs Alive and the adults are able to see the world through their eyes a bit easier as seen by your excellent video. It would be a tough wager to bet on who is having more fun touring Dinosaurs Alive, the children or the adults watching them.
  25. When you are at the front of the line they ask how many are in your group, from there they direct you to one of a couple photo booths and when done with photos they direct you out the other side of the booth. A scareactor is waiting for you there and lets you know when to proceed, with two booths I did not feel it held up the line in anyway. I mean we would be waiting outside anyway so I like having an opportunity. We did not buy our photo but we enjoyed seeing it as a group.
