  1. You should have seen the snake over at coney maul the first haunt weekend!! Personally, I am upset with the trees being destroyed, but I understand things must change. I just hope they are replaced elsewhere in the park. Oh I am quite sure that they will be replaced......with concrete.
  2. Copyright just one series. Make the entire area AVATAR. I'm only joking, of course. Although a non kiddie coaster themed on the Fire Nation would be totally sweet. Seriously though, for the kids area, Snoopy would be nice to see. Then again so would Hanna Barbera. But I like to think of myself as a free thinker. I would also enjoy a brand new concept be presented to the table.
  3. Great Trip Report Avatar!!!! AWWWWW, The Pop Century...That is where I stayed for my first trip EVER to disneyworld. Those pictures just make me feel all good inside. Thank you so very much for that!
  4. Here goes....I think that the feel of the reptile should be there. Imagine being outside, looking at the image of the snake that was generated earlier. The fangs hang way down below either side of the doorway, and they do have a fog effect. Then you walk into a building. All around you are facts about Diamondbacks, images on the wall of their skeletal system, digestive system and etc. And as you walk around the room, posters, and plaques reveal up to date information about the animals. As well as old forgotten myths. Behind glass, there could be a replica of the inside of a herp house. Featuring hanging prongs, and hooks, for the feel that the animal is present. There could also be a desk with written data on the animals observed behavior, and a massive REAL snake skin displayed on the wall. A real Diamondback skull could also be displayed. Fangs could be displayed in a jar, and and a sign could read.."Caution, Venomous!" There could even be a replica of various tools, and even jars of antivenine. The building, at some point could give the appearance of walking through a forest, with the appearance of great tall pine trees all around you. ( Kind of like E.T. at Universal Studios ) Speakers could create the sound of a Diamondbacks rattle, and it could come and go anywhere throughout the building. ( this effect would be as you are getting closer to the actual ride. ) On either side of the line through this replica forest, could also be bushes, and pine needles, and leaves. ( pine needles, and leaves don't need to be real ) This could be the ideal environment for the snake, and animatronics ( relatively cheap ) could make the leaves move as if something were under them. Another cool effect here could be just visual. On the left and right sides of the line there can be dirt and sand ( not real ) that have been laid down in a small trail, along with some smothered grass and weeds. This gives the appearance that the snake has been moving through the line. And finally there could be some fake snakes ( although appearing real ) lying in pine needles, or on a log. There could even be a real or fake snake skin stretching from a log. ( Log does not need to be real ) This would be my personal ideal line for Diamondback!!!!
  5. See, that is so respectable. I feel like a point has been made to me with your comment. I never did enjoy any of the paramount ( anything ). But it is because I was so deep into a comfort zone with what I grew up with. All that I can say to you is that if I have learned anything from paramount's era it is this...despite all of the new things that make you feel uncomfortable, you will still be able to make good memories. Because it does not matter what you get to do and see, it's that you and your loved ones can enjoy the memories together.
  6. When I drove past the park this morning, they were out repainting the parking entry gates. A small detail, but a welcome one.
  7. All that I have to say about the Cincinnati Zoo, Gordon, is that you did not take enough pictures. Maybe I should not say too much. But, let's just say that much like dear old swan lake, much of what you see is about to change. A lot.
  8. I like drinking Sobe and Life Water. But I prefer a good minute maid Strawberry/Kiwi to all of them. This article reminded me of something. I was driving through Wilmington, Ohio weeks ago, and I did see a Pepsi truck ( a box truck ) with an ad for Kings Island on the back of it. Would this be a good hintaroo?
  9. I would certainly like to go, but by that time, I won't be anywhere near this area. But I will make up for it by going to Disneyland at some point.
  10. Look at it this way. For everyone who is desiring to have a new riding experience in 2008. This is your opportunity. It will be a whole new view of the park to ride that half of The Racer while going forward.
  11. I enjoy going up the lifthill, lying down and backwards.
  12. The animal rights activist is stepping in?? I've read your comments a few times over, and I'm confuzzled. I'm confused about how being a member of the Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is going to gain you access to animals previous existing conditions. This is information that is usually shared between zoo curators, and if necessary, attorneys. Until recently, it is not even a guaranteed factor that you can recieve all information regarding animal treatment and health, if any. You see, at the time that Lion Safari shut down, the business regarding animal caretaking was in the finalization process of a transformation. One leading to very specific animal records consisting of the animals birthplace, owners, parents, pedigree, developing monohybrid/dyhybrid crosses, disease, treatment, daily care, vet checkups, etc. Because only in the last 20-30 years have zoo's actually decided that animals need to be examined, and housed in a very delicate manner. And most of this improvement has only been in place for around a decade. Up until this point, it is admitted that animals did not recieve the best of care. I'm not going to go into details. There are simply too many to name. If you are interested in knowing a vast knowledge of zoo history, please look up "The Introduction of Zoo's and Aquariums" by Samuel Steinbeck. You will find that even Kings Island's Animal Habitat is listed in the book. But it is text for advanced readers. Many children ( whom I encourage heavy reading ) would probably find themselves dashing to their dictionary every other paragraph. I am not trying to belittle you Sora. I am trying to give you a reference to look for, which might give you some of your answers. After all, I'm a big Kingdom Hearts fan.
  13. Goodness, it has been years ago, but I remember going to Kings Island towards the end of the season, and a friend and I rode The Beast. It started to snow just before we got on the ride, and for one reason or another I didn't think about the consequences of riding Beast in the snow. ( I think I was just overwhelmed with the new riding experience ) Bottom line is that The Beast in the snow HURTS! It hurts A LOT! The snow stings your face like getting shot with a pellet gun. I remember having to close my eyes. Hurts just thinking about it.
  14. I always liked the James Bond movie in the FX Theatre. My favorite line was Bond on top of the Train and asking "By the way, how tall are you?" to a tall opponent. Then the mans head hit a tunnel. I remember laughing at it so hard. But that has been so many years ago, I don't know, I'd need to watch it again to see if it's still as funny today as it was then.
  15. Remember Son of Beast? Granted nobody was hurt on this ride as a result of bad weather, but what if they were? The park would run an investigation, the park would be investigated, lawsuits would arise from the situation, and the ride would most likely be shut down for quite some time. Probably a repeat of what really happened on this ride, but for a different reason. And more importantly, people could be hurt. Why not avoid this altogether? I feel that it is in all of our best interests that the park takes action under even the most moderate of weather related circumstances.
  16. Guess they are not counting the 2005 winter fest shows with the large stage in the middle? Why would they? Winterfest '05 never happened. YES IT DID. And I can prove it. I have excellent d.v.d. videos of the whole shebang. Including a video of the light show at ( sniffle ) Swan Lake. Unless it was all a weird dream, and somehow I accidentally developed the technology ( in my sleep ) to transfer my thoughts to video. And I destroyed this technology prior to waking up. My sense of humor is so warped.
  17. Exactly. Some people may not like or care about BB (I don't) but a lot of people enjoy it. Think of all the people that would have to go without seeing women in bikinis at KI. It would be anarchy! There would still be women in Bikini Tops....waterpark or not.
  18. Instead of tearing it down to make room for a coaster, they should add to it and build a coaster like Sheikra that has a splash zone for bystanders. This would be a very good attraction for a waterpark in my opinion. Or a coaster that goes underwater.
  19. That is the single best picture ever thought up for the Eiffel Tower and beyond.
  20. I actually feel bad for him. I don't believe that he ever did anything intentionally wrong to children. I feel that he is the victim of greed. I can't remember how long ago it was that I heard this rumor, but I know that on some T.V. show they were saying that he might come out with a new tour and album to assist him with his financial problems. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?
  21. This photo is going to give me nightmares.
  22. I must have been typing up my last post at the same time that you made this one. I respect your opinion. I was not trying to argue with you. Instead, I was adding a lot of backup to my point that the animation styles were different. And in summary, not to give up on 3-D animation. The creators of these cartoons know that many people favor tradition to this new style. That is why films that will be coming out in the next few years are being developed in such a way that might change a few minds. This is all that I am trying to say. I just stretched it out for too long.
  23. Maybe I missed something. I said "wrong" referring to the comment that 3-D would be equally good in 2-D. The fact is that they would have to be approached differently so the result would not be the same. On top of this, I said to be patient, because, in time 3-D animation will get better. "That's it." In summary, that's all that I was saying. ( with a little textbook use ) And for this I was insulted. As a result, I chose to act on it. I usually try to show respect. But when someone repeatedly makes statements against another person, it is difficult to hold back one's feelings. Even the most respected of individuals can go astray on occasion. But that does not mean that I do not forgive him. My apologies if what I am saying is long and confusing. I was always taught to write in complete sentences, and as a result of this, what I have to say can tend to run on for a while.
  24. Your right "cough hack"...I have absolutely no idea about what I am talking about. None at all. I am actually laughing right now. You have attacked my pride. But it's ok, I forgive you. I have read your post multiple times as well, and clearly you do have knowledge about the issue. But, and I mean this with respect, you are stating what you believe, and there is nothing wrong with that, but I am referring to the responsibilities of every aspect of the animation process. Animators go through countless ideas, concepts, drafts, designs, themes, and all of this before an idea even becomes anything more than just a possibility of a name. Hundreds of ideas are reviewed, and it is the responsibility of the producers to decide what is worth the merit. And BOTH types of films are made very differently. Each has unique strengths and each has unique weaknesses. This is my point. I fail to see how one could not comprehend the fact that CGI animation is still in it's beginning phases, and years from now there will be such a difference in animation style that in 10-15 years, a new CGI film will look so different from CHICKEN LITTLE as The HunchBack of Notre Dame looks from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In time, the storylines will catch up with this animation enhancement. Don't try to insult me by saying that I am not making any sense to you. You are not even capable.
  25. I am going to have to say wrong. I don't like doing that, it does not feel right when I say it. Toy Story was successful because it was different. It was it's difference that drove it apart, and made people question and fear, is this the end of tradition? See heres the thing. One, CGI is cheaper. Try and retry for less. On top of this, each film would never be the same, and could not possibly be directed the same in both styles. Why? The Distance of each shot. With even the best style ( Liquid Animation ) the characters must be placed where they can logically be seen. Backgrounds must be shaded differently in order for the characters to stand out. With CGI the characters can virtually go anywhere. You can rotate the camera to any angle and get any shot that you want. But this comes at a cost as well. Finding Nemo is the best example. Imagine drawing fish. If you are using a computer, you can get a close up of the fish and add some detail, and make it nice and bright with lots of colors. Great. But if you perform this traditionally, you can use a lot more imagination. There would probably be an angle that looks up at the fish where you can see the waters surface, and a glimmer of sunlight on that surface to make something else move in the background. Along with this, some seaweed bouncing around, and probably more of a panoramic view. This is what made 2-D animation so rich and powerful. Like The Lion King. Another pointer is storyline and writing style. The writing style of Tradition is as follows....Good Story....Good Music....Good Voices.....Background is a Character. In The Lion King for example, The african savannah, the wind, the canyon, the sky, the rain, the trees, the waterfall, all of the chosen colors....ALL OF THIS IS ONE CHARACTER. And this character really creates a mood. The background MUST entertain and captivate the audience or a 2-D film will fail. 3-D films on the other hand, have a Good Story...Good Voices...Reality Mirror ( background ) In a way this kind of is a bad thing for 3-D. In other words, it's grandest strength is it's only weakness. But, as Ratatouille clearly shows us, this is becoming much less of a problem. As the years pass, these cartoons will one day be looked upon as classics with mature storylines and as a Golden Age of 3-D animation. In the future, this animation will only continue to keep getting better. Now, imagine 3-D animation with the storyline much like The Lion King's and this same 3-D film, finally carrying the music of 2-D films along for the ride. This is yet to come. But it will happen. And when it does, chances are that this business will see a new trend for the ages. If it proves to be worth the merit, more will follow, better, and better, until finally you love it so much that one will probably ( at some point ) finally conquer The Lion Kings title as best selling animated feature. ( an example of this is The Little Mermaids success ratio, followed by Beauty and The Beast, Aladdin, and Finally The Lion King. With the building success of Beauty and The Beast, and Aladdin back to back, The Lion King might as well have been the finally of a popular trilogy. ) There is a major difference between the two styles of animation. For now.
