  1. Brother Yogi and I wanted to discuss what NEW and EXCITING things would come about for the next FearFest. Unfortunately, some folks of strict religious belief took umbrage at our interest and enjoyment of FearFest. HEY WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK ABOUT MY IDEA OF AN ECOLI ATTRACTION??????????? A haunted house shaped like a giant toilet with evil Mr. Hankys (South Park) running around???? Does that sound scary or just gross?
  2. I hate to say it, but I thought that celebrity slaughter was tasteless and disgusting. If they put up someone dressed like an infamous criminal, I can understand why people would yell "kill him". However, when ordinary people get up there and folks yelled "kill him/her" just for fun - I was quite turned off. One of my worst fears is to get ecoli food poisinging AGAIN because I got it twice when I lived in Asia - and let me say that it could've happened here or anywhere. I don't know how they could theme ecoli unless they built a giant toilet and made it a walk through haunted house with bad smells and people dressed up in monster Mr. Hanky costumes.
  3. Like so many other people, I think that Scooby Doo & the Haunted Castle will be more popular than Delirium because Scooby Doo will attract adult thrill seekers who grew up with Scooby Doo, small children and their parents, teenagers, people who just ate lunch and need to digest, pregant ladies who can't get on 99% of the rides at PKI, etc. Scooby Doo will attract people from all demographic segments. However, Delirium will only appeal to thrill seekers and super fans of PKI who want to ride every ride at the park. That's my opinion anyway.
  4. Hey don't blame alcohol - blame the reckless people who abuse it. My mother was raised on a vineyard in Italy. I grew up with wine and drink MODERATELY often and cook with it daily. Alcohol is no different from caffeine - it's the behavior of the person more than the chemical. Speaking of alcohol - I never drink it at PKI. First of all, as a full-blooded Italian, I like wine - not beer. Secondly, I don't want a stomach full of soda or beer (gas) while riding big coasters.
  5. The Beast AND Flight of Fear win first prize as my favorite rides at PKI. Adventure Express and the former PT are second place winners.
  6. An Asian restaurant replacing All Star Cafe? Hmm, that's help make International Street to be more "International".
  7. I have to say that in my opinion, shows are VERY important to PKI and any other amusement park. Otherwise, why would they invest money in them? Yes, roller coasters and well-themed flat rides are the bread and butter of PKI and other parks but consider the following: 1. What do folks do after lunch? Get on a roller coaster and vomit? Nope, they see a show. 2. What about families that have a member who doesn't get on rides? What does that person or people do? Cry? Nope, they see a show. 3. What do people do when they are too tired or the lines are too long? Do they cry? Nope, they see a show. 4. What about parents/grandparents who are only at the park for little ones. What do they do for fun? Ride Yogi's Skytours 50 times? Nope, they see a show. And there are folks like me, who love the shows almost as much as they do the rides. If it were up to me, GRAVEYARD SHIFT would be broght back.
  8. Inraider, Sling Shot was the most thrilling experience that I ever had at any theme park in my life (and I reckon that I'm older than you). Being shot up like a projectile and spinning backwards while watching the Eiffel Tower made me scream more than anything in my adult life. It is well worth the money lad. But yeah - I wish that it was cheaper too. If it were cheaper, more people would ride it.
  9. I think that what PKI does is quite intelligent. However, I personally would like to hear Italian music at LaRosa's lcoations (Fazolis does it) and German music in Festhaus (though that would interfere with the TVs), perhaps French music at The Bakery, Fudge & Pretzel Shop, and should PKI ever get another Chinese eatery, I'd like to hear Chinese music there. I'd personally like to turn International Street and parts of Oktoberfest into a mini-Epcot 24 miles north of Cincinnati.
  10. Hey I'm 31 years old with an MBA - and I'm very excited about riding Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle. Though I must admit that for my 30th birthday I had my wife take me to the live Scooby Doo show at the Taft Theater in Cincinnati and we were the only folks there w/o kids. *L* However, I will ride Scooby MUCH LESS OFTEN than I did Phantom Theater because the lines will be SUPER long - whereas I always walked right on to PT - that was its charm and I rode it 3 times every visit. If I have to wait, I'd rather ride The Beast or FoF than a Haunted Castle. Sorry Scooby. Yes, I am super excited about riding SDATHC, but won't ride it that often in 2003 because of the lines.
  11. I don't think that a new area is needed either. As a matter of fact, I think that Oktoberfest ought to be annexed up to and including Festhaus by International Street. Why? Because Festhaus represents Germany, as The Eiffel Tower and what used to be The French Bakery represents France, as International Street Pizza represents Italy, the way Fiesta Snacks represented Mexico and the way Double Dragon Express represnted China. I'd like to make International Street more Epcot-like and annexing Festhaus would help. As far as the rest of Oktoberfest goes - I'd have it annexed by Paramount Action Zone. Heck, Adventure Express can be renamed Young Indiana Jones (as it's a family coaster) and have a replica of Indy for theming effect. And Sling Shot is as action of a ride that most people can handle. What do the rest of you folks think about my idea?
  12. I concur with Blondie 100%!!!! Bring back GRAVEYARD SHIFT with the original cast. Yes, it'd be cool to have Broadway styled reviews like Phantom of the Opera - but I think that it'd be too expensive for PKI. Though I think that Graveyard Shift came pretty close.
  13. Okay folks, what rides, attractions, or ENTIRE areas (like Oktoberfest) do you think are most likely to be removed by PKI in the future? I'll vote for Cyber Sez because I didn't find it thrilling. All I did was stomp my feet and scream. If I'm going to pay extra money for an attraction, give me Sling Shot or Xtreme Skyflyer any day that I have an empty stomach and the weather is good.
  14. The Beast - built in 1979 put Kings Island on the map. It'll never, ever be taken out - unless aliens from outspace steal it. Also, I'd say that The Eiffel Tower would never leave because it is the trademark of PKI - as Cinderalla's Castle is to Magic Kingdom. Due to the sheer cost of building it and its magnificent size - I doubt that SOB would ever be removed. Additionally, I think that FoF wouldn't ever be taken out.
  15. I think that a guidebook and a DVD/VHS would complement each other. Let's hope that someday PKI has both. The DVD would be great for home before you go to the park - or during the off season when you miss it. And the guidebook would be perfect for reading while waiting on long lines - or while sitting on the royal throne at home.
  16. As far as waiting on line is concerned - CONGO FALLS is the best because we seldom wait more than 1 minute, where as I have waited as long as 1 hour for White Water Canyon. And in terms of quality - WWC offers a longer and more exciting ride.
  17. I think that a guidebook would majorly rock. But maybe if PKI sold soundtracks (like Hanna-Barbera theme songs, Scooby Doo, Top Gun, TR:TR) and VHS & DVDs (based on Paramount's, Nickelodeon's, and Hanna-Barbera's) films that would be cool too. Of course all such decisions would be based on shelf space and profitability.
  18. So, 6 Flags is having a hard time. I was sad when they bought Sea World because now if I want to visit a Sea Word - I have to fly to Florida, California, or Texas. I'm glad that PKI - the best park in the world - is doing okay. I know that profits were up in 2001 but have yet to read anything about 2002.
  19. I think that PKI should put the former PHANTOM THEATER figures and soundtrack for sale at Emporium. I'd buy a copy of the music and the replica of Helga because she's my kind of lady!
  20. Graveyard Shift really did rock. I'm glad that it won an award. I wish that it'd come back, but unless I win the Powerball and pay park management to reassemble it - it ain't gonna happen.
  21. I think that a guidebook would be a great souvenir and a useful item while waiting on long lines. When my wife and I took our honeymoon at Disney, we brought both the official and unoffical guidebooks. They helped us out and we still read through them occasionally to remember the goods times that we had there. Paramount's Kings Island is one of the most awesome theme parks on the planet and surely deserves at very least 1 guidebook written about it.
  22. I've been to theme parks from New Jersey to Florida to California and even in Japan and South Korea. In my humble opinion, with the exception of Disney and Universal Studios, GRAVEYARD SHIFT WAS THE MOST AWESOME SHOW THAT I HAVE EVER EVER SEEN AT A THEME PARK!!!!!!!!! I was very disappointed to learn that it wouldn't return. The show was brilliantly choreographed, the songs was great, the special effects and stage set rocked, and yes...............the performers were awesomely talented - especially Medusa (who looked like Elvira). If I could, I've buy a VHS/DVD of the show. And if I were a rich man - I'd get into the theater business and hire each and everyone of those talented young folks.
  23. I don't if you'd call this funny but last year I introduced my friend Kim (a lady who is 4'11) to my friend Ken (a guy who is 6'1) at PKI. They hit it off so well that they are talking about getting married. It would be funnier if he was 4'11 and she was 6'1 I guess. Okay - if that's not funny, my wife and I always go to the Scooby Doo show and we don't have kids. Last year I volunteered to be the "bad guy" and was asked about my children. I felt like a dork telling the stage manager that I didn't have any (as of yet) - my wife and I are just maturely challenged.
