  1. All SOB references were removed before Haunt last year if I remember correctly. its also removed from the map, and its parking rows have been renamed Diamondback *enter number here*. so i cant wait for all the first-timers to start asking 'whats that coaster? is it new? when does it open?' followed by 'oh why is it closed? what happened?' etc lol one fun season, coming right up.
  2. i heard it a little from up on my perch. not NEAR as roar-ish but there was something coming from DB (and yes im sure it was DB lol)
  3. i had a couple dreams. one was that halfway up the Eiffel Tower, it stopped and both elevator doors opened and i couldn't close them. i think it started going (doors still open) after that. which was scary on so many levels for me lol. i think i had that one late in my second year of working at the park (first at tower). another one i had just the other night was that when i went to pick up my rides uniform for this upcoming season, i found they went back to the old three (or 4 i forget) button style shirts similar to the paramount royal blue star collar only they were like pastel or spring green with a white strip on the edge of the collar (which i think someone in the park wears something similar...that vacation stand in rivertown across from larosas maybe?) and had a rather large circle with a Planet Snoopy logo where a nametag would go....that wasnt the funny part. turns out they ran out of uniform shirts and outerwear tops because they only ordered about thirty of each size or something (some people know why that isnt such an unusual idea). so on the first day of work some people were wearing the old paramount blues, some wore the new greens, but of course nobody had the CF red/blues and some just had nice dressy shirts on.
  4. i thiiiiink nick closes at either 6 or 7 (theyve been known to change their minds [and the sign has been known to be made wrong....like last year]) saturday just look at the nick area entrances (by chik-fil-a or scooby/first aid) and they should tell. they give you at least 30 mins to an hour to get the munchkins out before the undertaker and them show up out front. they wont make you walk through that with little bitties, it makes the monsters feel bad to make babies cry, kind of a mood killer lolz in summary, check signs and ask Nick ride ops (especially supervisors, associates dont always get told what's going on)
  5. haha true about SOB but....all the coaster times were too short (about 4/5ths of the events ended up being on the station brakes....booooooooooo) and i cant really find any distance info (that woulda worked so much better) but heh i kinda cheated....i used a 100 ride beast marathon xD. fit perfectly into 8 hours if my calculations are correct, and at least half of the events ended up being at fairly interesting places like the helix tunnels. but can you say not enough aspirin in the world? @_@ now i just need a good overview of it to put on my pretty pretty (very last minute) powerpoint slide... ha. full pic....of beast...uh huh ok. um.....anyone got any? lol
  6. ok can anyone help me? im trying to measure out anything i can about a rollercoaster (preferably at KI) like at what time or distance does it reach certain things...like say 222' out of the station, DB reaches the top of the hill, at ___feet it reaches the bottom and so on etc. or minutes (minutes would work better for something like 'beast' of course). does anyone happen to know where i can find this info? this is to compare it to geologic time....yeah its a pain. but she said compare it to something you know or love, and i love rollercoasters. her example was comparing it to a mile [fitting 4.6 billion years into a mile is so fun.] or a 24 hour period. im currently trying to find a good POV of The Beast and time it out n.n; i predict epic fail. [i think time on The Beast would be fun, especially if it matched up like 'dinosaurs went extinct about halfway through the helix lol] im not honestly expecting an answer. this sort of thing is.... weird for me to ask
  7. thanks n.n; why didnt i think of looking there first......i just hope the rain didnt damage the figures too much last year poor maestro.....so abused he is. i was standing at height wall and thinking it would be great to just make a walkthrough thing of it for haunt...covered of course....memory lane and its still haunt-y. might as well if they're gonna put em out there anyway....i would love to see that
  8. Is someone just messing with me or can you seriously get the PT audio clips as ringtones and find the whole thing (at least audio...vid would be great) online?
  9. could be worse. i overheard a guy on top of the Eiffel Tower talking like they're pros about The Beast being the longest wooden coaster in the world and it used to be the tallest and fastest yadda yadda a million facts and uses of the words "wood" "wooden" etc. then say "yeah its that big blue and orange one over there" ( ARE U (expletive) KIDDING ME???) ha i woulda died laughin There are those in this world who will never understand us. amen oh yeah. i got a lot of people pre-DB announcement saying the ride was supposed to open 'next week' (or whenever the announcement date was from when they said it.....some just always said 'next week' or 'tomorrow'...yeah, got a lot of 'tomorrow').....asking where it was etc....once the initial 'are you kidding me' blank stare from shock wore off, i usually bit my tongue and pointed to the cleared area and 'cement pond'.....if i didnt bite my tongue i think i would have gotten fired for my response lol That could have quite possibly been me! Uh...the second thing, not the first! I think it is hilarious when people start freaking out about their lap bars. Either when they are getting on the ride and freak out because they aren't latching yet or when they are getting off the ride and have no concept of 'push down, then pull up'. Sometimes I wonder why the ride ops even waste their breathe! ~Ash at the end of Vortex "I HAVE OFFICIALLY BEEN VIOLATED!" i couldnt stop laughing. and yes i too wonder. i think that is one reason the Eiffel Tower speech is no longer required as far as i know...'spiel...spiel...really long loud detailed spiel......any questions about the tower, the park, or any of the rides?' "yeah how tall is it?/yeah, are we able to get out at the top?/yeah, is it as tall as the original" i could go on..... and those are the guests who are looking right at the employee the whole time.
  10. or the ones who think the ops will leave them unlocked since they did it on purpose....yes i have heard people freak out 'you're gonna put em back down though right???'
  11. Maybe they can spell Eiffel though! oy they ask that everywhere....i work there....and i often get 'is this the Eiffel Tower?' and i want so badly to say 'no this is Drop Tower.' but i got a couple new ones.... in Eiffel Tower elevator after loading at the top: "is this gonna drop?" (oh tower of terror.....how i hate you....) at grand carousel: "where's the scrambler/monster?" (for those clueless, scrambler is right next to us and monster is right across the path from scrambler. at nick height check station, a brightly colored wall with measurements listed for each color, a fellow associate wearing the height band apron was asked: "where do i get my kids measured?"
  12. actually they arent playing the same music in every area, that was just opening day as far as i could tell because sunday morning, last year's nick u soundtrack was back (banana smoothies, popsicles and all ) though i didnt really go through any other areas than nick and international
  13. coasters: Beast (duh. specially in dark. full moon dark good too. better in some ways if you like mix of cool lighting then boom darkness lol. back right corner of park) Diamondback (Check a test seat first tho...sorry to say. mid-back right side....not like you could miss it.) Racer (...classic...pure and simple. mid to back left side of park) Flats: Delirium Drop Tower (as have already been mentioned...im just not a crypt fan....its fun just.....closed too often for me to care most of the time. both D's are in front left.) Monster or Shake, Rattle, & Roll (classics. its hard to pick a coney best flat... mid-back left side) Carousel (even more classic....just ignore the music sometimes but maybe im biased slightly left of center [center being the giant green Eiffel Tower. yes my world revolves around it. speaking of things turning....has it been 4 years yet? lol]) Water (main park): White Water Canyon. no question. (Congo's good too but if you wanna get wet worth a darn on that ride, stand on bridge, right where the right offshoot is attached. across from d-back) Water (water park) : Tasmanian Typhoon Snowy River Rampage And to please all my picky picky friends..... "Attraction" (that is TOTALLY considered a ride now. so y'all hush!): Eiffel Tower. you cant miss it (in both meanings of the phrase. again, my bias might be showing a little) Food: POTATO WORKS FRIES WITH CHEESE!!!!!!!!! (oh how i miss them....) Show: Flashback! Totally 80's! (by Eiffel Tower. its good and i dont know much about the other shows this year) hope that helps some n.n; if not. come see me at the Eiffel Tower or carousel n.n
  14. definite: Kings Island, Cedar Point probably: Dollywood (why not?), Holiday World maybe: Hershey Park outside slim chance: Silver Dollar City (ill get there eventually...) and any parks i can find with ooooooold coasters n.n (i road giant dipper in santa cruz last year and loved it...i wanna try more oldies. anyone know of some? [GD was 192.....3 i think.....ish....any about that age still standing in open parks?])
  15. id like to know how an employee ID might count as a pass here? lol and how we go about proving our memberness here? or what...lol are sign ups out yeeeeet? i missed all the events last year i had to work (its so much worse when people are there all day unintentionally rubbing it in your face that you couldnt join them lol)
  16. They really need to clean the tv's badly.
  17. i heard something similar (if that one has any basis in truth, this one is probably the usual rumor mill sorta funny addons) that someone was struck in the lot and tried to sue the park for not warning that that might happen in a storm at the park.
  18. hmmm either The Vortex or king cobra...i dont remember that far back very well. was probably the 'tex.
  19. yeah im looking forward to my park trips this year. one of which is dollywood to get my bf on mystery mine and thunderhead. i randomly saw some rumor on youtube (dunno what their 'source' was) that blazing was going byebye for a new train station....scared me for about 1 second till i realized....i dont think that location would work for a train station (if they do get rid of it, i will cry. first flooded mine then this....my heart cant take this kind of abuse!) someday i wanna go to SDC to see how it is. looks cool n.n anyway, yeah. anywhere on thunderhead, i personally dont care about their looper (first time i rode it i wondered if i like blacked out through most of it but no it really is that short....but for its shortness it is good) sidewinder for sure, mine for sure, fury for sure. for food, i dont know what to say, ive only ever eaten those fajita-type things (i think im thinking of the right park. i hope i am) oh. and the choo choo. n.n
  20. Hot island rhythms....good riddance. i wouldnt mind seeing it again if they hired more than 1 or 2 people out of the whole cast that can actually sing and did some decent choreagraphy (maybe thats just the side of me talking that is rather annoyed by hearing it over and over all day nearly every day for 2 summers....but *shrug*
  21. hmmm i think the ones i miss most are the ones i rode but dont remember anything more than that fact. Flight Commander i suppose [minus the um...thing that happened] and the smurfs but the MOST missed is Phantom Theatre (LONG LIVE MAESTRO [er...you know what i mean]) and aye, the eagles. cant beat the classics....ok and the antique cars. im running out of things to take grandma on.... though technically not a ride, it is part of one...BRING BACK OUR CAROUSEL ORGAN!!!!!!! (seeing the one in santa cruz made me cry)
  22. I liked it way better as Days of Thunder than SpongeBob. The James Bond version was pretty cool too. But Days of Thunder was the best. The theming was so good for Days of Thunder when it was new. Race cars and sound effects through the queue, and one of the Pettys (forget which one) on the screen talking and pumping you up before you went through the doors. Evidently, people just kind of got tired of the concept. i barely remember it but i know i 'rode' it when it was DoT (mom has bad back and i was too young [not too short] for her to let me ride on the moving seats *pout*) but i think that one seemed to have the best motion too, from what i remember seeing from the lame seats. bond was good but it barely moved as far as i remember, that crash test one was good and pretty realistically jerky. 7th portal was fun . indiana jones was okay but kind of lacking. hanna barbera was fun (better at dollywood where they had water, air, and bubbles though). i only went on spongebob once (to say i did it. i loathe the porous square AND his missing pickle too!) im sure i missed some (not counting the few weeks when they supposedly brought back DoT...it was always closed when i tried to go, and the too-lame-to-mention fearfest showings, elvira, that clown one, and....i think a draculas castle one....and i think a different clown one for during the day one year...correct me plz) ok ill stop rambling.... (*practicing her mostly fact-filled ramblings for guest relating at tower*)
  23. darn this is the first chance ive had to look (yeah i have about 5 minutes between cramming for spanish and sedimentology and leaving for those classes so i looked.....shoot.
  24. the only one i remember is beast prints cuz those were there foreeeever. i don't remember much of old H-B (i almost forgot about the benches until they had the 1975 celebration for when Robbie K came to jump and they put some out near KI theater) so The Beastie prints may have been there when i was little (i'm 22 so if anyone has years for all these prints that might help hehe) it seems like i should remember OL:FOF's teaser sign at least. they should have those paths again. but then again it was funny for a while to stand up on the Eiffel Tower and watch the completely lost guests (the 'i know where im going' ones that will NEVER ask for directions, or the ones who think its faster to just run the wrong way and find out than to bother stopping to ask lol) run through NC and/or rivertown trying to be the first on Firehawk, but it would be cool.
