  3. Reported by: Deb Silverman Web produced by: Mark Sickmiller Photographed by: 9News First posted: 7/26/2006 5:33:09 PM If you've visited Kings Island lately, you might have picked up on some changes. There's a lot of speculation on how new owners and the shut down of "Son of Beast" could change things at the park. On Wednesday, a park spokeswoman sorted out what's rumor and what's fact. You may know them as "litter getters" but Kings Island management calls them ecologists, cleaning up after those who don't pick up after themselves. A Kings Island spokeswoman says with Cedar Fair taking over about a month ago, the new management company challenged its employees to make the park sparkle more than ever. "Their expectation, like ours, is to provide a very clean and top notch park," said Maureen Kaiser of Kings Island. "I've noticed the park's cleaner," commented visitor Darla Coberly. Full time male workers have even turned in their khaki's and polo style shirts for button downs and ties. These changes may make you wonder what else the new owners have planned. At this point, the name will remain the same, Paramount's Kings Island. And we're told there's been no talk of getting rid of Son of Beast, which has been shut down since earlier this month after a very rough ride sent more than two dozen people to the hospital. Kaiser also says anyone who thinks the Son of Beast incident has led management to slow down your other favorite rides, like The Beast, is wrong. She says if the ride feels different than it did a few years ago, that's because the brake system was upgraded about three years ago. The investigation into what happened on Son of Beast is expected to last several more weeks.
  4. um, took you longer to type that then just say yes or no
  5. will pki central be renamed ki central now the park sold?
  6. maybe so but i feel bad for the park who does loose when the plaintiff wins and shouldnt have or in the best intrest of the park they settle. you make some good points but remember just cause you worked there 11 years dont act like you know it all either..... i have worked there about the same amount time. i didnt work in your field. i have a son who works in your field........and the part about an hour or so on the emergency call, i can confirm that was bullcrap of the author....and also there are alot of cases in court and many get settled just as many get thrown out. but i do believe alot of the cases won or settled, the park got screwed cause there are alot of money hungry people out there...
  7. ithink its gonna be a long one but who knows
  8. omg!!!! so what they had a power failure, it doesnt matter whos fault it was, it happens all the time and not just at pki, it happens all over the world sheesh people, crap happens
  9. this will clear up anyone making up stories...lol... this is the actuall court case on this suit, and as the suit takes place info is recorded by the clerk of courts. this is open to the public and anyone......hope this helps
  10. here is the actual lawsuit filed in warren county court which is public knowledge... lawsuit
  11. hats cause they dont **** on the floor like they do at pki
  12. i am sad there will be no winterfest, but then again on the other hand i cant imagine the crap that has to be done to prepare for next year, especially if they ditch the paramount name, merchandising, signs, uniforms, are just a few to name a thousand little things
  13. It is the best coaster ever most likely you will love it and make sure to ride in the front.
  14. i think the dress code has gone down hill, when i use to work there in the 80's and 90's it was pretty strict.....now some of the employees look sloppy, one guy had long hair in a pny tail, i thought that was against the rules but i might be wrong
  15. i agree with that, and in this particular case i think they should be compensated somehow for this mess but alot of people sue pki over stupid stuff....and get away with it.....i would imagine most cases are settled before trial to save money.....some people are gready....i remember reading a case(nothing to do with pki) where a door to door sales man tripped on someones stairs and broke his ankle, there was nothing wrong with the stairs, the guy just had an accident and sued the homeowner and won for alot of moola, that to me is wrong, gready people are everywhere, but then again in this case with the sob i think they should proceed in the lawsuit.....
  16. wow marl who crapped in your wheaties, everyone has the right to want the ride to open and get to ride it, there is nothing wrong with it, everyone also knows it will not reopen until it gets a good bill of health, then you go on how sick you are about people whining......what are you doing? whining about others....if you dont like these forums open your own up.....these forums are for just that, expressing your opinion. personally i dont like the sob and i dont care to ride it.....and i hope to god it doesnt and wont ever open if they cant find a solution.......
  17. yes but it says when you buy a ticket or pass they are not liable, the rides are machines and they do break down, that is a part of life, i imagine they will give him a quick settlement...but i still think it is wrong
  18. doesnt matter whos shows are better, what rides they take out which ones they build or the price of pizza, they will do what they want, its thier business not ours, and i have seen in other posts around how people get mad at what the park does about this or that, if they get so mad then dont go.....
  19. i could live with that, thats an awesome idea, and while they are at it bring back more shows and the roaming beer carts...lol
  20. well they make alot of money off those little kids and thier parents, food and merchandise, but i doubt pki will ever be just one or another..... and while they are at it bring back the beer carts....lol
  21. thats true but each show has several performers that would understudy for thier particular show. when i was there we ran the shows 7 days a week and you rotated parts on each day.... then in july we would have a mental health day where the show would go dark to give everyone a day off besides your one day a week off and usually we would go on a trip , camping or otherwise......i can recall twice where someone would quit and someone for another show would come in and rehearse for a couple of weeks then go in.....those were the good ole days and i made alot of lasting relationships from those days. Kings Island and paramount Kings Island have opened the dooor for alot of the preformers in the past and they moved on to greater things, and chances are they might not have made it any further in thier career as an entertainer.... such as carmen electra, she made her start at Kings Island.....
  22. back in the day they wouldnt hardly think of interchanging the preformers in different shows.....it makes me wonder if the pending sale of the park is why they did this......when rumors started flying about the park selling that wasnt the first, paramount has known this for a long time now.....they didnt wake up one morning and say "hey lets sell the park".....its been in the works for a long time....when i was a little kid, we would go to the park and my main interest was the rides...but my parents always dragged us into the shows with us kicking our feet....but once in we were amazed. it was a different world.....kinda ironic i ended up in the entertainment field with pki and other places....lol.......the preformers do alot of work to get ready for the shows in the off season....when they cut back the budget they cut back on the integrity of the park.... a theme park consistes of rides , foods, merchandise and live shows...
