  1. Orion requires 3 clicks to ride. After riding Diamondback Saturday its very similar. I feel it's easier to get into Orion as the seats were designed for seatbelts unlike with Diamondback. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  2. From my experience last night you needed at least 3 clicks and a small portion of the red line is visable at that, no line meant no ride. And I could never hear the first click. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  3. Here is a pic of the Dodgem sign taken on Saturday during Coasterstock. Not for sure if it is new. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  4. Wasn't it announced already that there wasn't place to store your stuff in Banshee's station? With that I really think that is where lockers will be like Cedar Point did with Gatekeeper.
  5. I believe I am the guy named Matt. It was nice meeting you and this was a great event again this year.
  6. Thanks for the awesome photos KIFAN1980. I know I did an interview for Channel 19 but I can't find a thing on it. Also I know that we were on Channel 5 this morning as someone from work noticed me.
  7. Well as I might be feeling those 104 rides from yesterday, I can say it was well worth it for Give Kids The World. Had a blast again this year and can't wait till next. Also would like to thank Kings Island for putting on this great event. It was also nice to meet you all again.
  8. I am excited to do this again. It was a blast last year.
  9. It was very nice to meet you standbyme and also this is a great trip report. I am glad you made it to 81 rides before the rain. Even with my height I found a very comfy seat and made it to 104 after the rain. I now have a different understanding of The Racer and really can't wait till next years event. As its been said, it was a great event for a great cause and I am more motivated now to raise more for GKTW.
  10. Just wanted to add it was nice meeting all of you. Even after over 100 rides on The Racer I believe I am more motivated to raise more money for this great cause. I was told I was on Channel 5 but as jcgobie3 I really can't find anything. I know I saw 4 camera crews there. Also I would of thought one of them would of got a better picture then they did of us.
  11. I didn't see any other post about this so I thought I would start one. For the ones that participated it was very nice to meet all of you, also congrats it appears that we were the top raising team. For those that didn't participate it was alot of fun for a great cause. I personally was one of the 5 riders that made it over 100 rides on the Red Racer, and I am a little sore today. The Racer Crew was amazing and went well above their duties throughout the whole event. They made sure we had water, enjoying our singing and craziness in the middle of the event, and motivating and congratulated all of us that made it to 100. I now know I have a completely different understanding of The Racer and really can't wait till next year as I feel more motivated to raise more for Give Kids The World. Hope to see you all there next year for this great cause.
  12. Here is the link to the team site just in case anyone else wants to as well. I'll let you pick who you want to put in under. http://www.firstgiving.com/process/teamarea/default.asp?did=1785&teamid=147692
  13. Count me in as well. 1) Avatar/Jesse 2) Coaster Kid/Ryan 3) standbyme/J.D. (Signed up under Stan Byme) 4) TylerRider/Tyler 5) Fire-Beast-OF FEAR/Duncan 6) m2raptor/Matt
  14. One thing I will add for the Security is that a change seems to have been made to put Guards at least at Diamondback, The Beast, and WindSeeker throughout the day. That's how it was on Sunday, but that might of just been for the Holiday Weekend. I had a feeling that I wasn't the only one that noticed the dress code issues. We all know that KI Management reads this forum so my hope is that they see this and will get this corrected. I really do like the direction of the park recently but with everything there will always be some issues. Thankfully this one can be corrected easily. BTW thanks for reminding me of the unbuttoned shorts...... ugh really?
  15. Most of the guys I have seen violating it are around the Train area, so they might of just got back from the water park and really I have seen about 4 total. Mostly its the women that are violating it. As for it being posted I am pretty sure it is on all of the Rider Safety Guide signs at the entrance of every ride. And I think they all say shirt and shoes required to ride. Also I found this from: http://www.visitkingsisland.com/public/visit/faq.cfm "Is there a dress code at Kings Island? Shirts, shorts/pants and shoes must be worn at all times. Proper swimming attire for Boomerang Bay is defined as one or two-piece swim suits without abrasive buttons, rivets, zippers or snaps." Just as an example, I know that I have seen people have to put their shoes back on to ride Diamondback and White Water Canyon. Now on WindSeeker, Drop Tower, and my guess Invertigo you can't have shoes required due to it being a safety issue.
  16. Also those who went to the park today would of noticed that Vortex was down all day. While riding WindSeeker I noticed that there was a lift hill chain next to Vortex's lift hill; now that might of been there forever and today was the first day I could see it. Just a thought.
  17. The last few times I have been to Kings Island I have noticed more dress code issues, mostly dealing with swimsuits. Has there been a change in this policy that anyone knows about? I know in the past that you had to have a shirt on, now I see alot of women with just swimsuit tops and shorts or even guys with just swimtrucks with no shirt. Maybe its me just getting older (as in Mid 20s) and I am just noticing it more. I mean what if there is a accident on one of the rides and exposes themselves. Just something I noticed. What are your thoughts?
  18. I am normally more of a lurker on this board but something amazing and probably once in a lifetime happened to me today at Kings Island; riding WindSeeker while the fireworks where going. I was thinking just starting a post in the general are but the more I thought about it I decided it would be best in a Trip Report. Ok let me start this out. I decided to go today and just have a water ride day and since it was open late get some night rides in. I really didn't have any expectation for the day when I set up, I actually figured I might not get to do much at all due to the Holiday Weekend. I showed up around 3 pm and decided to ride Congo Falls, this is still a very nice water ride. I then decided to get my second total ride on WindSeeker, which might not be super thrilling but it is very unique. A few things I noticed while riding this time, Number 1: if there is an empty car, it swings widely like the Cedar Point video and is kinda scary, and Number 2: They really need to do something with telling what seat is not locked, from what I can tell they can only tell what section it is in. While on WindSeeker I notice that the there was a chain next to the lift hill for Vortex, so my guess as to the real reason the ERT was changed back to DB and The Beast is due to Vortex being down and WindSeeker just not reliable enough to support it. Next I hit up The Beast, which sadly was not playing the music on the lift hill. At this point I was pretty dry so I head to White Water Canyon and RFYLCB, needless to say i was not dry anymore and soaked. After walking around a little bit I decided I was really hunger so I went to Rivertown Junction. For you that don't know this they offer a discount for Gold Pass holders; instead of the 16.99, it was only 15.73. I then decided it was time to put on my learning cap and head over to Dinos Alive. If you are going to do this attraction I recommend doing the movie first. Speaking of the movie it was not to bad and very educational. Also the seats where not as uncomfortable as I had heard (still poor Action Theater...Days of Thunder, James Bond, etc, and of course Spongebob FOREVER). The trail is really quite a hike going up and down and up and down. Some of the sensors didnt seem to be working properly, but still very educational. I thought it was interesting that they mostly had newer discovered dinos and not all of the ones that we are more familiar with (dont worry they have TRex...or do worry that they do). Overall I think this is a very good addition to the Park and there appears to be a clearing forming being it so I would expect expansion. After walking around for a bit it had started to turn dark so I hit up Diamondback twice, which was good as always. Then it happened... at about 9:20 I got in line for WindSeeker. I was pretty excited to finally ride it at night. Well needless to say I got one at 9:58, which we were not for sure if we were just gonna sit there or actually ride. As soon as we got the all clear I hear a loud boom behind me. We then started to rise and more booms then we rotated so I could see the fireworks, and wow that was an amazing sight. As we rose we got farther and farther up the fireworks until we were finally eye level with them. That one its own hand would of been great, but with a rotated ride you see a 360 view, and what a view it was, for the time I was one WindSeeker I saw at least SIX, yes SIX Fireworks shows from the neighboring area. I really dont know if I will ever have such and amazing and unique firework experience in my lifetime. I know I am a lucky number of 3 WindSeekers cycles that got to see the Fireworks from that unique view but still it was AMAZING. Needless to say I finished watching the fireworks from the ground and was still in shock of what I had just experienced. Strange part is I have had seats, in order, 49, 48, and 47 (a little freaky but I only have about 61 seats to go). After the Fireworks I hit up Flight of Fear, Red Racer, and Adventure Express (I forgot how good this was in the Dark), and also grabbed a Blueberry Ice Cream Coke Float (yes it was interesting and very good at the same time). By that time it was after 11 so I decided to finish my day on Diamondback, so I rode it twice. Then started the Forth Of July one it for a final lap of the day. Overall I had a great day. Normally when it is just me I make it from the ERT to about 2, so about 5 hrs or so. Today somehow I made it from 3 pm to after Midnight and I am glad I did. After the experiencing WindSeeker + Fireworks I knew that this was gonna be my longest post so far. I hope you enjoyed my trip report and Have A Happy Forth Of July. Diamondback - 5 WindSeeker - 2 Flight of Fear - 1 Adventure Express - 1 Red Racer - 1 The Beast - 1 White Water Canyon - 1 RFYLCB - 1 Congo Falls - 1 Dinos Alive + 3D Movie
  19. Figured I wasn't the only tall one on here. I definitely understand what you mean about the pain.
  20. I'm not for sure if anyone noticed this but Vortex seems to have some new padding on the shoulder restraints.
  21. Yeah that was a mess trying to walk by Chick Fil A. I just thought they were really busy. I ate at Bubba Gumps and several employees mentioned it was their first day. Good part is the food was still good and it didn't take to much time getting through. I saw Slingshot down at about 2:30 pm. I know that Beast went down a little bit after 10 am. I was getting my restraint checked on Crypt at about 10:30 am, when all of a sudden they unlocked. One plus for the day is that I really like the sign for WindSeeker and can't wait to ride it. Also if you like Dinosaurs there is now plenty of gear for you in the stores.
  22. When Slingshot breaks down I decided I was done and to cut my loses. OK that was not the only reason, mostly the 2.5 hr lines at least on everything and also I think everything besides the train broke down at some point today. I know that I waited a little over 1 hour in the Diamondback single rider line. All of this on top of the rides that were not open and Music in the Park day made this extremely busy and a little hectic. No hard feelings but I am really not for sure that Kings Island expected so many people being there today. I'll be back in a few weeks to try out WindSeeker (hopefully next Sat if it is open). A day like today makes me glad that I have a Gold Pass; but at least I had 3 laps on Diamondback and some nice walking.
  23. Well im glad to see im not alone with my bad luck. I was in line for The Beast when it went down so I went to the Crypt and while i was getting ready to ride it it went dow. Hopefully some of these issues get fixed soon cause I just saw about five school buses pull in and everything is already super p acked.
  24. I don't know if this is mentioned but if you look here is says that it should go 61 mph. Now remember this is the promotional poster for it. http://rcdb.com/69.htm?p=23074 Also if you are using the calculator that was mentioned on the first page, you would have to be going 8 mph and have a 125 ft drop to get 61 mph. Again assuming that was correct.
  25. I don't know if this was mentioned already but I am wondering if they had to put up the aircraft warning lights even though it was not completely finished yet. If I remember correctly I read that there is an airport near Kings Island so I am sure they would already know of this being built. I am kinda surprised they kept adding pieces on so close to dark for this reason.
