    PKI-C Day #2

My family and I were at PKI on Sunday, we tried to catch up with the first gathering at 10, with delays in traffic and parking, I missed the group on the first try but did manage to make a trip back to the tower at 12, that is when I approached Dane and introduced myself and was ... let's put this as nicely as can be...treated rather rudely, ignored and snubbed. :censored: My main objective was to have my book signed by Chef and sorry to say he wasn't even there when I was there. Sorry to have missed him.
  2. I am going on Sunday but not for sure if I will be able to meet up with the group. I would like to go on the tour but am meeting my daughter and son-in-law at the park and I haven't seen them in like a month so not for sure if they will be interested in the tour and the rest of the events planned. I am going to bring copies of some old pictures that I have from the '92 season, including Flight Commander, King Cobra and some taken from the Monorail, etc . If I'm able to catch up with the group I will be happy to give these copies to you for your collection. Hope to see you there.
  3. I know this sounds very far fetched and expensive, but with all the people going through the turnstiles it has to be hard to keep track of faces matching up to the passes (not to mention peoples looks sometimes change), it would be neat if they could use the "fingerprint" system along with the pass for identification. All you would have to do is scan the card and then apply your "print" to guarantee that you are the actual passholder. Just a crazy idea.
  4. A little while ago I heard a commercial on the radio and they still had the two last days listed as this Saturday and Sunday.
  5. I haven't heard the commercial or anything but I'm sure that the park is still open this Sunday, look at all the free tickets that they've given out to season pass holders to give to friends, etc. for this last couple of operating days. Also they have this listed as part of FearFest. I wouldn't worry over it. Probably just stated that this is the last day of operation.
  6. My favorite area hands down would have to be Rivertown, it's not as hectic as the other areas. I like to go and sit behind Wings and listen to the peacefulness and try to get away from all the hustle and bustle. I also like to stand on the bridge and watch the stream, it's always fun to watch the little chipmunks playing and scurrying around. Whenever we pass the leather/mining shop we have to stop and play a game of checkers (which I always lose). The music is somewhat annoying because I'm not much of a country music fan. Still, much more of a peaceful area, usually not as crowded as the others.
  7. Mrs. G. I do agree with you, this was very confusing, when it was first advertised I called the park and asked some questions and they said they didn't even have all the information to give out yet and they couldn't even help me at that time. If they're going to advertise something then everyone should be informed ahead of time in case of questions asked.
  8. Bring a friend free days are a horror! One of these days I'm going to contact the park with my suggestions on this, I think that they should give out a coupon book or something when you get your season pass processed and each month include one coupon to bring a friend free, not on any particular day (as long as it falls in the particular month printed on the coupon), you choose when you want to bring them, I feel that the park wouldn't be as congested if they were to try something like this.
  9. It's a sales gimic, makes you feel as if you're special and by spending the money on a pass, that you've earned the privilege to get in for free, meanwhile everyone else gets in for Fearfest for free also (as long as they pay to get into the park). :censored:
  10. During the summer months I would use the early admittance to Waterworks, since I very rarely stayed til closing this worked out good also for the parking. Not so good if you stayed past Waterworks closing time. Otherwise I have always used the gold pass parking lot. Once we used the gold pass meal deal, not too bad of a deal if you figure it out in comparison to full price.
  11. To give an idea to CoasterRZ of what another water park that I have a pass to does-you buy a premium pass for $20 more and you all you have to do is show your pass for free 20oz drinks good for the entire season, no limit per day, no buying a cup to carry around. Rather nice in my opinion.
  12. I have a picture but my scanner isn't working right so I can't provide it at this time, but the link that specialk141 provided seems to be identical in design according to my picture which was taken the summer of '92.
  13. I was at the concert, wasn't a very big crowd. Third Eye Blind was really good, they didn't get started until a little after 8 and played til about 9:30. Glad that we had to stand to see because those seats are murder! We were out there freezing our butts off and the lead singer was throwing off his coat, shoes and socks and was running around on the stage barefoot. Afterwards we walked around just to see the lines for the haunted houses, they were awful, we didn't even attempt to stand and wait since we had already done all this two weeks ago. Glad that we planned this two separate weekends to catch everything and didn't wait and try to do it all along with the concert. Noticed that decorations in the park were no different than last visit, thought maybe since it was the first weekend that they weren't completely done. Only saw a few guys walking around in makeup, and same as last time saw no "sliders". Have a good weekend (what is left of it!!) Miss Di
  14. As SML828 said about 2000-that Saturday night was when I went, the lines outside to just get a ticket were horrible.
  15. I went last Saturday the 4th, the longest line was for the Rt 666, which I waited for 2 hours to get on, this was so busy I believe because it was a new attraction and everyone wanted to see what it was, otherwise we didn't wait any longer than maybe 30-40 minutes to go through any of the haunted houses. I think also that since it was a little cooler out may have helped out with the overall attendance. And if I remember correctly the first year of Fearfest, can't remember the exact date but was on a Saturday night, they did stay open later that scheduled, maybe like 1:am because of the long lines. I think we stood longer outside just to get our tickets than the amount of time we stood in line for any of the attractions.
  16. All of you that get the chance to go, have a really good time. I would have liked to come and brought my husband and son but we were just there both days last weekend and are going again next Saturday for the concert. Hopefully you will have nice weather and the lines won't be very long. I am looking forward to seeing the group photo that will be taken and hopefully you can post it for all to see. Make sure you ride FOF and Vortex for me! Have Fun
  17. On Saturday evening while waiting in line for the House of Darkness, we found it rather amusing that a man in line was asking the usher at the door if they thought it might be too scary for his pregnant girlfriend and if it might throw her into labor. Thought they should have maybe thought this out before even thinking of coming to something like this. Would of been rather amusing though for the workers!
  18. Well, this is how my weekend went with my visit to Fearfest, we arrived at the park on Saturday around 3:30 or so, first stop was to buy our Third Eye Blind tickets, then onto the haunted houses-first stop was The House of Darkness, 30 minute wait, about the same as last year, changed a few things. Nothing too eventful. Next stop was the Maze of Madness, 10 minute wait, pretty good in my opinion, lots of fog effects, kept getting caught in the "dead ends" and had to turn around, took about 10 minutes to find our way out, liked this the best of all attractions. Next was the Curse of the Crypt, 40 minute wait, only thing that I really remember that was eventful was you have to get down on your hands and knees and crawl through a tunnel and when you crawled over the plexiglass a light would come on and you could see someone underneath of you, very dark in the tunnel and hard to find your way unless you hold onto the shoes of the person in front of you. If you're afraid of small, dark spaces I wouldn't recommend this. Next we attempted to go to Elvira's Superstition, it was broke down and we never did go back to see if it was open. At about 7:30 we headed over to get in line for Rt. 666, we had to wait all the way over across from Paradise Island (the smoothie place), we waited for 2 hours to ride, it was good but not that good. Really creepy being out in the open and just waiting for things to jump out at you. Nobody jumps on the cars or anything, just things jump out from the scenery, best part was not knowing what was around the next corner. My favorite was the "toxic guy" getting sick, looked so real! Then we tried to go to the Psycho Path, the line was horrible as usual so we didn't even attempt to wait, heard others talking about it and said it was the same as last years so we decided to bypass this one. Then the last thing was the Circus of Horrors, terrible in my opinion. Didn't have the same music as in the past, really did make a difference, not as many things jumping out either. Overall, kind of a disappointment, maybe since I've been there every year since they started it I've just gotten used to it and know what to expect. The theming in the park was not as good as before, lots of open areas that I remember things being decorated and were not this year. One thing we really missed, maybe we were just in the wrong places, but we didn't see any "sliders" at all, just a few were dressed up and wondering around and scaring people. Hardly any fog is being used this year also. We didn't even attempt the rides, so not for sure what the lines were like for those, we came for the haunted attractions and was going to wait on the rides for Sunday. Because of temperatures on Saturday night we were planning on staying in the campground and instead stayed at the Ramada, nice hotel, inside pool, hot tub, had fun there. Went again to the park on Sunday, first stop was Scooby's Castle, we had to wait behind the ropes to get into HB land, think that Dragon Lord was monitoring this site, we were far enough back that I couldn't see his name tag and was going to try and introduce myself but when the rope was released the crowd pushed so fast I didn't get a chance to speak to him. Got 2 quick rides on SDHC with no waiting in lines. We then went on the Pumpkin Patch Express, overall cute setup, kids get to pick out a free miniature pumpkin, then on towards Ghastly Grove, there you can go through a maze, play games, decorate your pumpkin and such, we were there when it first opened so it was rather quiet. Really nice for the little ones, mine is 14 years old so he didn't get a whole lot out of it. Most of the rides were walk ons, Vortex, TR:TR, SOB, Delirium, AE, the most that we waited for any line was about 15 minutes was for the Sponge Bob theatre and then after waiting in line, we got seated and there was no sound! We waited like 5 minutes or so for the film to cycle so they could try it again and still didn't work, so they cleared eveyone out. Oh well, I've been on it several times before, just felt kinda sorry for the little kids that were so expecting to see this and didn't get to. Had a good 2 day trip, weather was nice, the lines weren't really that bad, just for Rt 666 which was to be expected since it was new. Hopefully they aren't done with the decorating since it was only opening weekend. I'll be going again for the concert on the 18th so maybe I'll see a difference then.
  19. Definitely Rt 666 because it's new, I have been through the rest several times and know what's going to happen, it will be exciting to go on this attraction because we don't know what to expect. Only 2 more days and I'll be there!
  20. Actually I have a daughter that is older than most of the posters on this site, and a son that is pretty close to most. I'm 40, going on 41. But I'm still a kid at heart. And like the Chef, I'm not in depends yet.
  21. My favorite as far as taste wise would have to be Bubba Gumps, I like to sit out on the back patio and watch the fish and relax.
  22. Sorry to shoot down your dreams Italianchef, but I don't ever see it happening. It would cost too much to keep the employees on with benefits and insurance and such and not to mention the cost to keep the park operating, even if it is only a few rides. They would have to have maintenance on the rides and not to mention the upkeep on the walkways to keep them clear from snow and ice. Just wouldn't seem like there would be any profits made. Even if they were to open up International Restaurant in the off season-I don't see it happening. Just my opinion. But we are all allowed to dream!
  23. To answer question posted by aero11, yes The Beach does have a winter type attraction called holiday fest, go to their website thebeachwaterpark.com and it should explain what all is going on, I couldn't tell you about it since I've never been there.
