I would have gone, but I guess you snooze you loose.
I don't think the price was unreasonable, given the situation.

Anyone know if The Beast has been put back on the track yet? The Kings Island facebook page has been posting other rides but not The Beast.
It almost certainly has. In fact, I'd be willing to go as far as saying that there have been several test cycles. It won't be long until the associates are there for training, and the rides need to be ready for that.

Here is a tour that KD posted of their VIP lounge on Facebook. Posted without comment.

If you’ve ever needed a testament to not buy your pass in the fall and wait until you see the product you’re actually getting, here you go.

My take is that this is acceptable. All benefits are park specific. It sucks, but if they opened it to all, KI passholders could take spots from CP passholders because they are limiting attendees. Look from a different perspective...if ki had a problematic coaster such as SOB that was closed for 2 years and a fan favorite ( which it wasn't, but it's just an example) that was turned into an awesome RMC or GCI hybrid, thousands would want to ride. If you are one of the most loyal clients of Ki and spend all the money on this pass, you'd be very upset if 15 CP prestige pass folks took a spot away from you.
But, we both know how terrible KI's implementation of this pass level is, so if they had this event, they would probably open it up to silver and above and limit it to 200 registrants. Screw the prestige! Let them eat yesterday's skyline chili leftovers that have been dumped on the ground by the dumpster and if they are lucky, a staff member will hose the down with reclaimed urinal water!
All benefits are park-specific?
Doesn't sound like it to me.
Unfortunately, this bait-and-switch is as adorable as it is predictable.

Several restaurants at Kings Island did do this last year by having monthly specials. They were extras instead of replacing something on the regular menu. They also did not appear on the menu boards but were instead on little signs in the restaurant, Brewhouse for instance had different specials most months.
The park NEEDS to do a better job at communicating these kinds of things. Maybe something in the app or a monthly post on the blog, but it needs to be communicated somehow.
Here are the specials from July at the Brewhouse. If you check the thread from last year I know people were randomly posting the specials.
The monthly items were certainly a plus. But, as you may recall, they weren’t included in the Dining Plan the first few months, presumably because enough people complained.

“Ever” is a very long time.

It’s quite telling about how this year will go based on the fact that the other parks are showing off their lavish dishes that are new for 2024 and KI booked a photo shoot for their pizza and fries.

I'm generalizing here, but typically speaking there's not a lot of Venn overlap between people who would get in to a fistfight and those who can afford to get drunk at an amusement park.
Oh they find a way.
But seriously, I’m not saying it’ll make the bad crowd worse. I’m saying it could make a good crowd bad in addition to the bad crowd.

I believe that you cannot use them in the arcades too. If anyone knows differently, please fact check me.

They are trying to squeeze more nickels out of the passholders with meal/drink plans...
Correct, and with the whole industry on edge about fights and misbehavior in the parks, I’m not sure how wise of a move it is to continue to introduce such a thing.
But let’s not kid ourselves - this thing will be seldom open.

I mean, surely they wouldn't sell us the idea of unlimited coffee and ICEEs then remove them from 90% of the park so nobody actually uses them... right?
You also have to remember, they removed two restaurants that were on the Dining Plan for two bars that aren't. That's almost certainly by design.

Most years I do not visit the Pigeon Forge area frequently enough to justify a DW pass, however the KK pass gets you 50% off on DW tickets now so that works our great for me.
Plus your KK pass is worth more than ever now, contrasting another pass which is diminishing.

I know of about 10 families that did not renew Cedar Fair passes and bought Dollywood passes instead.....
I’ve seen a fair amount of that too.

That tipping point was this year for me. Last year, my wife and I both had Platinum passes with the dining plan, drink plan, and all-park, all-season Fast Lane; easily $3,000 between us.
I waited a long time before deciding one way or the other, but budget cuts, devaluation of our passes, safety concerns, unknowns due to the merger, and a complete lack of park communication are just some of the reasons we came to this conclusion.
Instead, we got Dollywood passes for the first time. This will be the first year I won't have a pass since I was a child, which does make me sad. Unfortunately, I can't imagine my choice will make much of a dent. Unless a large percentage of the passholder base follows suit, nothing will change.
No, it won’t make a difference; however, I’m willing to say that every top spender that gets fed up and leaves is replaced with the no-money-spending, payment plan, gets-in-fights type.

You’ll notice that you are valued at Dollywood. Their welcoming attitude and appreciation for its guests is as adorable as it is predictable.

I wouldn't expect it to change until enough people move from "hesitant to" to "unwilling to". Hard to say when things will reach that tipping point.
You are correct.
Same with passes in general. “We can do anything we want and they’ll still come.” Won’t change until they don’t come.

Based on FB chatter, appears folks are having issues at Carowinds with various passport add-ons.
You know, I can forgive stories of “my pass didn’t work” or “I had trouble with my meal plan.” That comes with the territory. It’s the associates telling people incorrect information that concerned me. Between that, and the less-than-ethical business practices that we’ve seen out of the company in the past year or so that makes me and others hesitant to purchase prepaid plans. I’m not sure if that will get any better anytime soon.

Given the recent developments in what the “All Park Passport” really means, we have learned some very valuable lessons. Tower Topics may be a good place to share our thoughts on that.
