  1. I'm going to dump what I know about the IR on your laps right now: First of all, after talking to a very credible friend of mine about the IR a few months ago, he told me basically what you guys have been saying, that it's not going to be a TGIF's and that they've been, "trying to get that darn place to reopen for years now." This doesn't show much hope, HOWEVER a birdie came down and told me that they've been working on the IR for a month or so now... what does this mean? Who knows... but I do challenge any of you to try to book an event there for this summer and hear the baffled response.... almost as if someone's hiding something. Oh, and the view of the fireworks from the roof of the IR is simply amazing. I remember taking photos of the crowd with my flash and hearing someone yell, "Oh my God! Is that guy going to jump?!?"
  2. Thanks Jesse, but we have made it perfectly clear to the fine folks as the GWL that they are more than welcome to use our forums as a media to communicate with you guys as needed. I think that a Great Wolf Lodge forum would just be dead since there isn't too much news involved with that place.
  3. They put IJ's track in the lot for several weeks without a problem. It's just too big to worry about. Plus I'm sure that security keeps a nice watchful eye on it.
  4. I stand by my fanboy statement. :-) Have a great day everyone.
  5. ^ Heh... You just can help but force a smile once someone reveals themself as a Putz fanboy. ::Opens a Christmas present with a new shiny new fannypack inside::
  6. No it doesn't take 10 million to tear down X-Flight and ship it down here but fixing SOB isn't free. Seriously, you have no idea what your talking about and your passing it off as if you do. It's probably best you just stop talking. Hey Sparky, weren't you in charge of high steel maintainance work? Oh wait no... when you worked at the park you checked lap bars and pressed buttons. Why don't you quit hopping on people for speculating? I'm not allowed to say too much but I'm willing to say that come opening day, you're really going to have to put a foot in your mouth for attacking Rumor Smasher on this one. No I wasn't in charge of steel coaster maitenance nor did I claim to be. Your right, I was Head Supervisor in ride operations but I gained more knowledge about the industry in the six years I was employed at KI then I ever did being in some coaster club or running a fanboy web site. It doesn't take a genius to realize what "Rumor Smasher" is saying is seriously, well, stupid. Odd... the guy who runs the 'fanboy website' seems to know something that the former button pusher doesn't. I wouldn't be so sure about that. There's a saying in this industry and I know at least ONE person on this board(not counting me) knows what it is. I guess you're just going to have to wait and see and be surprised with everyone else, now aren't you?
  7. Not often I disagree with ya Boddah (Heck, don't think I ever have) but I really don't see where rumor smasher has done anything except put out vague comments that have not amounted to anything as of yet. Over time, I think that even you will admit that AZ is and has been a sound source of information on the site. Just trust me. I know what I'm doing.

I know and respect the fact that you know a fair amount about the industry but my advice to you would be that untill you get better sources, I'd recommend not attacking other peoples' speculation until the truth is revealed.
  9. We're actually fortunate on both sides of the table... both the staff and the users. We have a very unique relationship with the park in which the park trusts us enough to put content on the site that could be shaky... it's matter of how it's handed. On the upside, you guys get the most exclusive content. They realize that it's not in their best interest to shun enthusiasts, but rather keep them intrigued. That's what we're here for.

  11. We are NOT a closed or landlocked park.
  12. I agree that IJ and AZ would have been inseparable, not unlike the Olson twins.
  13. I think that most people who didn't like Holiday Horror didn't get to see the true side of it. During the first few days of Fearfest, the Elves would harass you, Santa would in his subtle way tell you about how he knew you were unappreciative of the toys he gave you as a child, the Christmas music was backwards... it was just brilliant. Unfortunately, some people chose to get offended by it and express it and they had to water it down almost immediately, which is why a lot of you got the wrong impression of it.
  14. Werle was Fillhardt's seasonal assistant last year. She can't be all that great. Just kidding! Congrats both of you!
  15. I've never seen this myself, but I've heard that you can see remnants of the parking lot within the ocean if you look closely.
  16. Speaking of Fear Fest, can anyone tell by the photos whether or not Psycho Path was destroyed by the construction? I want to say that it's farther back, but I can't tell.
  17. Bill, upload the rest of your footage. I loved that show.
  18. you my friend are on the right track Maybe, maybe not. We know for a fact that they're looking at either modifying the current trains or getting new ones (hey Ed Danger, I want Millenium Flyers!) but anyway, the current rumor flying around is that the 3 benches will become 2 bench trains.
  19. It was announced two years ago that the Kings Island Campground would be closing for business before the beginning of the next season and that a new resort would be taking its place. A year and a half and $100 million later the Great Wolf Lodge is finally set to open its doors to the public! The Great Wolf Lodge had its grand opening ceremony today and allowed us to take photos of their wonderful new facilities. A special thank you goes out to the staff of the Great Wolf Lodge for their great hospitality. Just incase you haven't been paying attention this past year, the Great Wolf Lodge features 401 all-suite guest rooms featuring 11 different possible themes, a 93,000sq ft indoor waterpark, ammenities such as Elements Spa for the "big kids", Northern Star Arcade, Cub Club with arts and crafts for the kids, the Great Clock Tower with an 8 minute animated show, plus state-of-the-art meeting rooms and conference centers opening soon. The Lodge uses its integrated themeing to give your family the sensation that you are living in an adventure in the northwoods. 20. ^ It didn't leave the graveyard. I ask an official about that.
  21. I think all of this will improve the ride... one bit at a time. Let's hope that it doesn't end up with the ultimate fate of The Bat.
  22. It's going to be VERY expensive to put anything in the place of the loop. Keep in mind that they would have to basically recalculate everything if they changed such a fundamental element of the ride. Personally I'd live to see a good pop of airtime. Seems like it would be a fair trade.
  23. To answer your question in a preliminary way: yes, it is the only way. Bear in mind that SOB is the ONLY looping woody and they went to great lengths to find a manufacturer and a design that would allow that. Unfortunately, the resulting yield was very heavy cumbersome trains which caused the bad experiences on the ride. I just got off the phone with Maureen and she said they're looking into their options as far as getting new trains or modifying their current design. I suggested millenium flyers or PTC trains. haha
