PETA going after Carousels!
Browntggrr replied to OverlandTaxis30's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Replacing carousel animals with bulldozers? In PETA's method of thinking: Wouldn't that promote construction which takes away from an animal's natural habitat? -

Son of Phantom Theatre All joking aside, looking at the previous attractions in that space, BBoBH is overdue for a refurbishment. -
I am not a finance person but I don't believe it as bad as it looks. Things are still balancing out post-pandemic. 2022 was such a massive increase in net revenue to top those #'s would have been quite staggering. Below is the 2022 2Q results with 2021 & 2019 results. Second Quarter 2022 Highlights Net revenues totaled a record $509 million, an increase of $285 million from the second quarter of 2021. Compared to the second quarter of 2019, net revenues increased by $73 million, or 17%. Net income was $51 million, an increase of $110 million from the second quarter of 2021. Compared to the second quarter of 2019, net income decreased by $13 million. Adjusted EBITDA(1) totaled $171 million, an increase of $169 million from the second quarter of 2021. Compared to the second quarter of 2019, Adjusted EBITDA increased by $7 million, or 5%. Attendance totaled 7.8 million guests, an increase of 4.4 million guests from the second quarter of 2021. Compared to the second quarter of 2019, attendance declined by 654,000 guests, or 8%. In-park per capita spending was a record $59.52, a 6% increase from the second quarter of 2021. Compared to the second quarter of 2019, in-park per capita spending increased 26%, driven by double-digit percentage increases across all key revenue categories. Out-of-park revenues were a record $60 million, representing a $19 million increase from the second quarter of 2021. Compared to the second quarter of 2019, out-of-park revenues increased by $10 million, or 21%.

Top Thrill Dragster Incident
Browntggrr replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
My gut tells me the "screenshot" yesterday of the Zamperla website is a total hoax. Top Thrill 2? CP has been VERY reluctant to acknowledge the ride formerly known as TTD other than new promotional video of the ride & the new formula for thrills. Using TTD in any variation would be like KI using "Beast" in another coaster name. Tomorrow will be fun and will hopefully move on from a very dark time in CP's history. I highly doubt we will hear about the future settlement or result of the lawsuit against CP & hope the victim from a couple years ago gets everything +more. -
Fury 325 Support Failure
Browntggrr replied to Oldschool75's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
With Fury being in it's 9th year of operation, I'm leaning more toward a metal fatigue issue than design issue- mind you I have zero engineering design experience but do deal with metals. Metal fatigue is tricky- kind of like a crack in a dam- it takes a while to show up but once it starts the end is coming quick! If Fury is "repaired" with a large sleeve-like device welded over the cracked area it's likely fatigue. If Fury is down until new support shows and new footer is poured- it was a design flaw. -
Consult your Dr. before anyone else.

https://www.yourerie.com/news/waldameer-owner-paul-nelson-dies/ He was a fixture in Erie for decades and turned Waldameer into a very nice amusement park for Erie. One of the best moves he made was selling the old carousel fixtures in the 80's which generated much needed cash for the park which Mr. Nelson used to reinvest into the park & the early stages of Water World. It turned everything around. There have been numerous videos of Mr. Nelson over the years. I one of them he comments how he has never had to "work" a day in his life. He will be missed by the Erie amusement & Erie community.

Hersheypark Announcement
Browntggrr replied to Orion742's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
IG was testing in July 2021 but opening was pushed to March 2022 due to Covid (perhaps RMC learned a bit from the difficulties with SV at CP??). There were a few soft opening dates passholders were able to enjoy in February 2022. -

^ I'm guessing that testing has gone well & the two weeks is for: additional testing, inspection, training new employees and polishing up the area. -

It was announced at Winter Chill Out that the plan was to have ID operating for opening day. -
A large majority of people get "information" from videos. Have videos of guests breaking the rules being escorted from the park on a continuous loop shown on every TV in the park. Include a text # to report incidents and that unruly guests will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Smoking, line jumping, phones out on rides etc..........

Very sad that things like this are needed. It doesn't effect me at all anymore but some of my best trips were with my 10 & 11 year old cousins and I was 19. I have a hard time wrapping my head around being a legal adult but not being allowed to bring younger siblings due to not being 21. This policy also gives me the impression (other than lipstick on a pig) that the incidents at parks (not just KI) are due to kids under 21- which couldn't be further from the truth.

What background does this DA have to make a statement like this on the heels of the security changes being implemented both last year & during offseason? He also had an interesting decision when it came to lawsuits filed after the terrible synagogue shooting in 2018: https://triblive.com/news/top-stories/commonwealth-court-says-zappala-erred-in-ignoring-criminal-complaints-on-gun-legislation/

In PA, the company I work for recently installed LED lights in the parking lot. Aside from being able to read a book at night, the ROI was only 20 months- energy cost savings, maintenance cost, and rebate for going from regular lights to LED were all MASSIVE. AND the lifespan of LED is almost triple that of regular bulbs.
