  1. OK all, hear is the deal- I was able to make 4 copies. Either the jurassic JVC umatic VCR player "play" feature died or the tape is shot. My guess that it is the player. Anyhow, I am keeping one of the copies, and I am sending ZosoBeast a copy so he can make DVD's out of them. I am really quite surprised on how good the quality is. After watching the copy a few times, the hill going down to the 540 helix does not look banked like it is today, or I can't tell because of the copy. Dane- I will send you a copy. That will leave me with one copy to send to someone that may not have a DVD player. Bill- I'll pay for the shipping and materials for the copy if you will do the same with a return DVD for me. I think that is fair. browntggrr@aol.com
  2. Sounds great Bill. Maybe we should hook up to talk? It sure would save me some time if I only had to tape 1 VCR tape instead of 10, lol! Unless someone does not have a DVD player.
  3. Cineluxe got back to me and unfortunatly they did not make a tape for The Bat. I was also not able to see if I could record anything do to a power outage. What luck! :censored:
  4. Ya, I think the DVD would be a great idea. I could send you the original umatic tape, and you could do your thing. Or would you want the VHS copy? I e-mailed the company that I won the auction from. They have yet to get back to me, but just the possibility of seeing The Bat in action is worth the trouble. I am planning to make copies tonight while I am at work. After this week I will not be able to make copies from the original umatic (my plant is on shutdown). I am not looking to make $$ but the cost of shipping and the tape is necessary. I assume the cost would be around $10 for everything. Since I cannot make a copy for everyone, I suggest that friends share the copy I send. I will post when the copies are done to let everyone know how many I taped.
  5. After some digging around at work, I found an old umatic VCR and watched the video taken on The Beast while construction was going on. This is the same tape that was on Ebay. The video is great and surprisingly really good quality. It shows some of the queue line being built, water under the turn-around to the first hill, the old style train (4 cars w/ 4 seats = 32 ppl/ride), different color train (red in front to yellow in back- something that I never believed). Uncompleted 2nd tunnel- the beginning and end were cemented in but the middle part of the tunnel was open. And of course the 540 degree helix, which at that time was also not tunneled in. It also shows some video clips of the train running from the ground. It was really neat to see. There were workers all over the place leaning against the walkway beams (OSHA would have a hissy-fit over that), and the trees were REALLY tiny w/o leaves. I should be able to make some copies if anyone is interested. I just hope the copied quality is as good as the original. After I make a copy and view it, I can let everyone know. I can almost guarantee this, this video is VERY unique. I want to write the company to see if they have a umatic tape of The Bat!
  6. Correct, it is called syndication.
  7. Nick replays the TV show in syndicate, that does not give Paramount the rights to the likeness OF the TV show.
  8. FoF is a clone. Rebel Yell and Racers are very, very close.
  9. Sounds like Patrick Swayze is at it again....
  10. The older animals were dying out, and the cost of replacing them was too much.
  11. Guest: "What do you mean you could see me performing oral sex in the photo booth?" Oops, that was only one time! :stupid:
  12. CoasterGlobeAnother site with some nice pics and explanation of The Bat.
  13. Another issue were the brakes. As you can see in this pic Bat Brakes the brakes are located on the bottom of the train. This caused excessive wear and tear, just like the shocks that were perviously mentioned. Another poor design that was later rectified for other suspended coasters. I would love to see another park build a replica of The Bat- with the current modifications. The footprint looks amazing.
  14. I don't diagree with what you said, but, SFMM has always had the reputation of not maintaining their rides. If PKI were to consider a 4-D, it would either be an improvment of what X is, or the downtime that SFMM takes once per week would be worked on overnight as opposed to shutting it down for a whole day.
  15. Is it possible to get different colors for some of the apparal? I know that I would stain a white polo about 30 seconds of putting it on. ... and the thong is a riot!
  16. They could sell the rights, but as far as equipment, some of it has been used for Fright Nights. And we all know about the cars.
  17. Donuts? They should have given you eggs! :chef:
  18. When I went to IoA, I thought it was a really good park overall. The coasters were good, but Spiderman is easily the best ride in the park. PKI will never be able to touch IoA as far as theming goes. IoA spent some big $$, but it is a year round park. Given the fact that PKI is seasonal, spending that kind of money for theming or $100 million for a ride like Spiderman is unlikely. I would like to see PKI fix and upgrade the theming they have now, as well as make the park cleaner before adding more "hollywood themes" to the park.
  19. Flight Commander I (waaa) never rode The Bat. 3 summers and each time it was down. :censored:
  20. Huh? How is wishing that there are more seatbelts on certain rides so you feel safer, like adding more brakes on The Beast. I don't get the comparison.
  21. You love it? On God's green earth, WHY?
