  1. Venues like an amusement park, schools, stadiums, theaters etc. are not secure like an airport (and their "secureness" is questionable). It's too easy to get a weapon onto the property for someone who is determined to do it. The visual of a metal detector is very similar to a chaperone policy. It looks nice, it is a deterrent, but the actual effectiveness is lacking.

  3. Will it cause financial damage? The teens most of us refer to that are dropped off at parks likely have passes and minimal money available. Throw in a chaperone that now pays for parking and has more significant financial resources to be with the teen and the quick Skyline Coney the teen would have without the chaperone now turns into a large pizza with drinks and a couple cheese coneys a few hours later with the chaperone while wearing a new hoodie. Parks that have had issues like this want to satisfy the social media outlets that are also demanding more security like yourself. I'm not convinced additional security is the answer. People know cameras are everywhere (including dashcams) and they still do stupid acts somehow thinking they will not be seen. Banks are the most secure destinations that most of us know of and they still get robbed. Kids at the age of needing a chaperone see these videos more often than many adults. Somehow accountability & integrity has been erased from many in today's world. I agree that the chaperone policy is a knee-jerk reaction- the recent brawl at Disney is proof that the "chaperone(s)" can commit these violent acts as well. Parks want to show social media they are doing "SOMETHING" and pointing the finger of those who are not considered adults is a easy solution that just makes people feel warm & toasty inside (kind of putting a guarantee on a box.....). Like additional security, I don't believe chaperone policy is the answer. I will continue to beat this drum- put these people acting out on social media blast getting arrested and charged. Then put them on blast when the punishment is handed down.
  4. The brawls didn't happen at other parks either. Until they did.
  5. ^ Based upon the vague information given, I can see multiple launches including a launch up a spike, rollback, then launch again with a switch track- similar to Pantheon at BGW just on a larger scale but not using the current top hat. Intamin has had some recent success with a few new coasters. Perhaps CF will work with them sooner than later.
  6. Perhaps the cost of removal is so great, re-engineering the ride to today's technology has comparable expense/ ROI? TTD's issues from day one, including the unfortunate recent incident a year ago, dealt with the ride's technology, not the structure. I am excited to see what the future holds. I also wonder if Intamin will be involved.
  7. TTD officially being retired. Announced on CP Twitter. I do find the wording very interesting.
  8. CF owns a bunch of property off-point- which could be a reason for improving the roads and traffic flow to & from CP. https://fox8.com/news/future-road-project-should-make-drive-to-cedar-point-safer-faster/ I can see a future where more off-point land is used for another water park like you mentioned, additional parking lot, more hotels, perhaps even moving Lighthouse Point (??).
  9. Scary stuff. Hope the guests are ok long-term. It will be interesting to find out if this was a park issue or if it was another Intamin design issue.
  10. ^^ I was excited for Paramount's take over of the park thinking that it would rival the new Universal in FL. Admittedly I was a older teen not realizing at that time that stacking a seasonal park vs. a year round park is not fair, but on the other hand, the Paramount years could have been significantly better with their additions & general park upkeep. I will say CF has not been perfect, but they have done a great job bringing the park back pre-Paramount.
  11. ^ Paramount taering out the 'Tiques & surrounding area is one of my pet peeves. I get that parks need to add things to refresh areas but it would be easier to digest if the addition of BLSC was as memorable.

  13. ^ Don't cut the fun bridesmaid! All joking aside- this type of media coverage is exactly what is needed for all guests who break park rules, specifically: having their phone out on a ride, line jumping, smoking or fighting.

  15. I have seen this suggestion many times over the past few years & I keep having the same question: Why is it some believe that the people starting/ involved with these incidents can't afford the increase? And along with that question- why do some only believe it's teenagers? Like yourself, I do not agree with that as well. Don't punish the majority for what a fraction of unruly guests do. As I have said before- put the unruly ones on social media blast being escorted from the park & charged to the fullest extent of the law.
  16. I remember a time when CF first took over & many here were concerned that with the flagship park being so close, KI was not going to get big rides. 16 years later, 5 coaster additions and over $91 million spent on them has pretty much squashed that concern. And major upgrades to the park's most epic coasters including a paint job that just makes older KI enthusiasts just stop & grin. Not many parks have the same experience. I for one can live for 3 years with the absence of a new attraction- especially knowing the recent history. There is still that large plot of land available where Vortex was at. With today's announcements it appears CF is adding attractions that are nostalgic to some of the parks. Could a version of Vortex return??
  17. ^ Totally possible. Maybe CF being tightlipped is out of respect for the victim & ongoing recovery? Or a settlement has not been reached due to not exactly knowing what % of a normal life she will have?
  18. Moving Matterhorn & Scrambler is going to turn the volume up on the demise of Corkscrew- which I don't want to see happen. Ride is meh, but walking under the corkscrew is still really fun. And zero mention of TTD- (edit) other than WM being the 18th coaster.
  19. It sure is! I'd like to know if each set of lift hill wheels (??) are individual of each other or somehow work in tandem with each other. That's a lot of moving parts. Apparently on the original, each train had it's own propulsion. In the POV it looked as if the wheels were in motion.
  20. Interesting tidbit: TTD's tower lights have been on at night for over a week & now the drop side can be seen in the webcam (along with SV drop & part of Gemini). I do not recall seeing this view before. I honestly believed TTD had given it's last rides, but now with the ride being "highlighted" (for lack of a better word) it appears that may not be the case. Or it's just a complete coincidence....
  21. You bring up an interesting point- quality vs. quantity. Which additions had the greater impact? DB, FH, Banshee, MT & Orion. Or 1993 Bat, FoF, SGC, Invertigo, SoB, Flying Ace Ariel Chase & BSC. I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
  22. Sorry, I'm a bit confused by your posts. Did you not enjoy the new Phantom Theatre show? If you did, then that would be a new addition to 2022.
  23. This story should be on blast everywhere. Not only for letting potential criminals know you will be caught but steps that are needed to be taken so you are not a victim yourself.
