  1. The video is so incredibly disturbing that I initially thought it was a fake early this morning. I cannot fathom what the family & witnesses are going through.
  2. CF really has done great with generating interest in new attractions. Or interest in nothing at all........
  3. The pics seen at other sites were taken on Friday. That being said- the amount of work that can be accomplished by those in the business in a short amount of time will shock many outside of the business.
  4. What an absolute breath of fresh air. Well done KI, well done.
  5. The flag plates is just basic angle iron that can be purchased pretty much anywhere. I don't see them required to be purchased exclusively from Intamin nor should there be a reason to have them replaced since they are not designed to come in contact with anything. The pic here is of the front train of MF. Flag plates used for prox switches are at the end of the train which clears a block. I don't imagine a flag plate clearing a block would be at the front of a train.
  6. While there was nothing found in the state's investigation that CP did anything wrong, it does not mean that the legal headaches end for CP- especially since this is not the first incident of things arbitrarily coming off the rear of the trains on the brake run. TTD closing for the year is not a surprise. The parts/ trains of the ride not included in the investigation likely sat untouched since the accident occurred. This also means any physical reengineering (and obvious testing) could not take place. The last report of the victim is she was still considered critical which also plays into the decision to shutter TTD for 2022. The other piece of information that is concerning: there was another flag plate on a different train found to be loose & all train brackets had signs of wear. Showing wear on a part that is not designed to come in contact with anything raises many questions. Combine that information with the theming coming off in 2003, on the brake run as well and it shows a trend of what appear to me enough vibration on the end of train to have things loosen/ brake off. These combined incidents point to a design flaw that needs obvious correcting. What that correction needs to be is a major question mark as it may not be financially feasible to correct or even, more importantly, it may mean such a fix may change the ride enough that it cannot operate as intended- think 1981 Bat with non-angled track. It would be interesting to know the forces on the trains during KK's brake run after the 129' hill compared to TTD's straightaway.
  7. Music licensing agreements go through ASCAP or BMI for nonmobile entities like KI, bars, restaurants etc. The agreement would be for the entire KI property and covers such things like: DJs, queue music, music used in shows, commercials playing on TV in the park, jukeboxes etc. I have always considered ASCAP & BMI a total ripoff. If a commercial is on TV & has music why would the entity that has the TV and is paying for service get hit again with additional cost for a commercial that paid to use the music?? Or why does the entity that has a DJ have to pay a fee & also pay the DJ who paid for the music?? Ok rant over.....
  8. Due to the ongoing worldwide covid issues anything is possible, but, I do not think the deal gets done under the disclosed/ current numbers. There are too many question marks about the value of the current parks CF due to covid as well as current properties that have not come online yet. What also needs to be included in the mix is when CF took over properties like Knott's & the Paramount parks, the heads of some of those parks acquired a seat at CF's table. While those parks were purchased by CF, it felt more like mergers. If the offer was larger it would have more of a chance of being put through. Why has it taken so long to have an answer? Probably due to negotiating on the value of the parks (the past two years has done some crazy things to the value of things- think of the current housing & car markets). CF also has to think of the interests of the shareholders- a quick yes or no would have been unlikely under the current market. An initial offer was made, it would be in everyone's best interests for CF to counter offer with a "shoot for the moon" number.
  9. This is just a possibility: Many large corporations like to use an internal tag line that focuses on a specific direction they want to go over a certain period of time. The absence of a specific park & only the CF logo on the mug was something I quickly noticed. "Project Soul" could easily be that line given for a direction CF wants to go in given what we have all experienced over the past two years. If this is the case, it's a nice move on CF's part- I would certainly embrace going to a park and having such a fun & enjoyable time it allows a few hours of forgetting what is happening outside the park. There are many possibilities.
  10. I hope all goes well with the opening. With this much time "testing", any downtime will come with an avalanche of scrutiny.
  11. Interesting finds on the "hotel". Knowing it probably would not be a hotel that would get many yearly guests, it still is quite the investment for Kalahari to make for employees to stay. It does speak volumes on why CP had difficulty finding enough employees during the pandemic.
  12. https://www.wkyc.com/article/news/crime/kalahari-shooting-and-murder-three-arrested/95-9dcabf30-d5ba-4681-bcf5-e024c0ac61cf Tragic news. The article is a tad misleading about the employee housing. Extended Stay is a hotel that appears to be contracted out by Kalahari.
  13. I would think a final determination into the accident would be necessary before investment is made to any: queue line changes, design to trains, design to brake run etc. are made. It is also possible the park & ODoA is allowing time for the victim to hopefully recover before any report is finalized.
  14. https://www.coaster101.com/2016/01/12/book-review-dick-kinzel-biography/ I'm sure the above information will play into the discussion if TTD will be operating again.
  15. Glad to hear that it is getting better. There were a couple incidents at CM last year that just made my stomach turn.
  16. Too many clubs have treated the everyday guest like 2nd class citizens and have also treated parks like they need to bow down to the almighty club. When parks said "no" to certain demands the club(s) have retaliated against the person that said no to the point of jeopardizing their livelihood. Many in the the clubs have developed a gang-like mentality: if you are not with us, you are against us. It shouldn't be like that. Have fun with it. Enjoy the camaraderie with others and when a disagreement happens, do it respectfully.
  17. With any major project like TTD, there are numerous concepts from multiple companies. The current concept was the final that was signed off on.
  18. 20-ish years ago record breakers were a big deal, not so much nowadays- except for enthusiasts. For most, 300' coaster allure is unfortunately watered down today- which I think is crazy but look at the data: it took 10 years for the 2nd giga to be built in the states and only and only 7 are currently operating worldwide. In 2006 (just a few years after TTD debuted), Dick Kinzel was quite vocal that it was the worst business decision he ever made & that 50% of park goers would not ride TTD. Other parks obviously agree given only 2 stand today. Guest experience & convenience has taken over for record breaking coasters when it comes to drawing in guests. I expect in the coming years new(er) technology to be used in rides more than record breakers.
  19. Since CF has taken over: 4 coasters: 230'/ 80mph, 7 inversions & longest inverted, wood coaster that is enjoyed by most people- including enthusiasts, 300' 91mph How those can be considered scaled back compared to: BLSC, FoF and a historically failed SoB is just mind-blowing. ....but to each their own.
  20. Absolutely terrible news. https://www.yourerie.com/news/breaking-news/fire-reported-at-the-blue-streak-roller-coaster-at-conneaut-lake-park?utm_source=wjet-wfxp_app&utm_medium=social&utm_content=share-link
  21. I do not see the "status" changing. IMO- ACE needs Beast more than Beast needs ACE.
  22. My experience is people listen to recordings similar to reading signs- a very small percentage. Giving the knives to security was the best thing.
  23. Park employees definitely deserve some special recognition for their efforts. Not only for putting the park "back together" after such a storm but for putting the park in front of their own needs. We had gusts up to 65mph on the southern shores of Lake Erie. Lake Erie reportedly had waves around 15', which is pretty crazy for how shallow the lake is. Although nothing compares to what happened to the people impacted by the 30+ tornados Friday night/ Saturday morning. I can only hope their will rebuild quickly & come back better than ever.
