A have a Haunt question- why did we never get a Phantom Theater Haunt? I’m not talking about recycling the props and figures for existing mazes that’s been going on for years, I’m talking about a concept that focuses on the original Phantom Theater IP.

The best year, IMO, of Haunt/Fearfest was the first and they had Phantom Theatre with actors inside.

Probably go on sale the same time that 2024 is announced (if there is any) - which history dictates should be soon.

Would be nice if they also posted the operating calendar at the time they go on sale because if they cut a lot of hours I may sit this one out.

Also looking forward to seeing what Prestige benefits you get for the first week or two before the language on the web site is changed again.

Why bother looking at the calendar, terms and conditions are subject to change at the parks discretion :D

While I do appreciate the rollback aspect (although some will make the comment that it will not be a complete rollback like was experienced by few in the past).  I am a bit concerned about throughput.  The switch track is just one more possible thing to break down.  Plus before the ride took 18 seconds (10 to clear the top hat).  Once the top hat was cleared a new coaster could be (actually already was) put in place.  With the new design it will be longer to slide the new car onto the track.  Plus the next car can't be put on until the first one clears the top hat (after 3 launches).

Seems like the wait will be longer (no more staging/loading 2 vehicles at a time) and the posibility to go down will be greater (with the addition of the switch track).  Both are things that should have been avoided at all costs in my opinion.

As for the name....UGH.  I was sure they would have stayed away from the previous name entirely because of the previous incident.  For those of us old enought to remember another re-used ride I shall come to call it Top-Thrill Re-Run! :) :) (Rest in peace Avalance).

Eh, the old train held 18, now it'll be 20.

They didn't launch a train every 18 seconds, they'd launch two, then have to load, move cars into position, etc.  It wasn't that efficient.

Depending on how the switch track works, they might get a better average launch time than before, thereby increasing capacity.

Also, LSM should be a lot more reliable than the hydraulic system.

This silence is really making me question if we should go to Kings Dominion instead, We will be visiting family in the PA area and going to Kennywood on monday, from there, we are planning on going to Carowinds. It seems like it was supposed to open last week but the sudden silence has me scrambling. If it doesn't open by Monday, we may just go to KD instead. The communication was great at first but now it's seems like they do not want to release any statements as they found something and do not want bad press and / or do not want to give people a timeline that may change (Ex: Worlds of Fun)

Don't commit to anything you can't confirm from their stand point.  They don't owe you daily updates.

Just go to KD.  If Fury is the only reason you are going, I wouldn't bank on it being open.

  5. Ryan woke up this morning and chose violence.  I love it.

Haven't spent more than 2 hours in the park since they tore down Vortex.  Not really doing much to keep me interested either.

  6. Everyone blasting the communications department, but this was likely an Operations move.  They have goals and targets for the year and they obviously are over their budget, this is a way for them to get back under budget by slashing hours on rides that have poor ridership during these times.

I'd imagine you'll notice the park looking dirtier as well, because they probably slashed hours in Park Services as well.

  7. I don't think you'd be able to fit a Darkoaster type ride in the Boo Blasters building,

DarKoaster's building is around 39000 square feet and the entire building that Boo Blasters is in is 29000 square feet.

The Boo Blasters bulding also contains a stage (that isn't used frequently, but occasionally in the past), entertainment space for the characters, as well as the Park Services staging area.

Not saying all of those things couldn't move, but I think that's a bit of a pipe dream.

  8. If the component is Infinity Flyer related, I'm guessing something was damaged during testing, maybe a minor bump?  Hard to really say.  Seems like an unforeseen circumstance.

As for the difference between this past year and this year for having things ready, could it be manpower related?  Did they scale back working hours in the off-season?  Did they get a late start after Winterfest?

I know in manufacturing, basically everyone is hiring, and everyone is running overtime to try and keep up with demand.

Probably a combination of a few different things to be truthful.

Jeez…What is going on with Cedar Fair and the delayed openings? It’s not like the supply chain, and labor shortage issues just showed up being that this is year 3 since the Covid Lockdowns. From what I’ve read beyond the Zambezi Zinger, Worlds Of Fun like Kings Island, too was off to a rough start with a lot of rides not being opened and the park in general not appearing to be ready for opening day. Canada’s Wonderland new rides were not ready for opening day as well. Maybe CF should increase the lead times on new additions by starting these projects sooner the season prior.

The lengthening of the operating season certainly doesn't help.  The park used to start the seasonal refurbishments in November, not January.

I would say the supply chain issues for consumers have been mostly fixed, but I work in manufacturing and getting material for custom parts/ low volume parts is still difficult.

Curious, what is the typical training session? I like to watch the trainings with the webcams but I never really know what's going on.

Been a while, but most of the Area Managers are trained ahead of time.  They train the Supervisors as well as the Certified Trainers.  The Certified Trainers and Supervisors re-train the returning crew and then they start training new employees.  They generally train as a group, then they test individually on each position.

Most new employees are limited at first, so you won't see a brand new employee sitting in the drivers booth for a coaster or even on their own flat ride.  You have to earn the trust of the Supervisors first.

It's pretty hectic especially with a lot of new employees.

I'm guessing they're going to have that area blocked off for now while they finish construction.

In 2005 when they opened Backlot, they had the path between the Tower and Rivertown shutdown for a few weeks while they finished construction.  When I was on the ride crew that is what we did, we stood there and guarded the pathway all day long.  It was terrible.

  12. I believe FoF had 4 trains at one point, the problem is the loading and unloading takes so long.

Even when they ran 3 trains they would be stacking them in the brake run.

If I remember correctly FoF has 7 blocks, so they could in theory run 6 trains, but it would negligibly increase capacity.
