  1. This thread is literally watching paint dry.
  2. Can't speak to the dorms, but I'm info is here. Great experience for someone in the range. Really helped me get out of my comfort zone as a person being around different people than you grow up with. Would recommend rides, personally. It's the least likely group to get sent home and being 18+ is a benefit in that department. Park Services is a good department as well, but I don't think the pay advantages that were once there still exist. Looks like outside of this week here is your best bet: nterviews Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 1pm-6pm and Saturdays 10am-4pm. Walk-Ins welcome!
  3. If you are going to do that, you might as well partner with them and get their licensing.
  4. Yessir. If I recall correctly, they were square rather than round.
  5. There weren't any there as of 2005, I can confirm that.
  6. I know who he is, I was making fun of the person who said he has stories to share with his kids and grandkids about who he met.
  7. Grandpa, we don't know who John Matarees is, for the 30th time.
  8. A lot of that land is hillside and would require a lot of work to be usable. Even the helix for The Beast is in a pretty big ravine. Memories of Top Thrill Astro dance in my head.
  9. Isn't that the area the drones were launched from?
  10. I'm guessing year round entities have different certifications than what Kings Island does. That or they have their rides re-certified during the season. Kings Island didn't see the value to get 1 extra hour to have it done. They have a system that is currently working and no need to change it since they will be closed for the next 14 weeks.
  11. I was initially shocked when they allowed Chick Fil A into the park knowing that location is making $0 on Sundays.
  12. I'm assuming it hasn't changed much, but when I was there, we weren't allowed to buy Chick Fil-A. Typically Larosas Pizza is always on the menu, then they would have the standard chicken fingers, burgers, etc. They would also have a daily special. It was all pretty decent.
  13. Not as much as I hate the cheap Chinese made crap that my wife buys on Amazon that I have to assemble.
  14. Anytime you have that many moving parts, it adds complexity. Nothing overly complicated though, it would seem.
  15. That's a lot of moving parts! From an Engineering standpoint, very cool!
  16. Ship it to me and I'll build it for $40 bucks!
  17. When I looked yesterday at my posting time it was 30 minutes shorter as well. But traffic is unpredictable.
  18. More security theatre that is not going to prevent anything. Look at what happened at Kennywood, someone still got a gun in with all of these "policies." Unfortunately, the people who are working the front gate aren't going to be empathetic, it makes their job easier to just say "no" if the bag is over the size. I'm on the Fan Council at UC and we had a similar issue going into this season. They implemented someone who's job is to approve the different medical devices. As for the bags in the park. They aren't worried about what you have on you once you get into the park. In fact, they'd prefer that you stuff that cinch bag with merchandise.
  19. Are we 100% sure that building was torn down in 2009? I don't recall it being back there in 2004 and 2005 when I worked at Action Theatre and Vortex.
  20. Didn't they change the name to Flight of Cheer a few years ago?
  21. This is the way the world is going. It's Security Theatre. Sporting events have been transitioning to this over time and now it's only a matter of time before this becomes the full time policy at KI, IMO. The no leaving policy has to do with the amount of drugs and alcohol people do in the parking lot prior to the event. I've never seen so many cheap plastic Vodka bottles in my life, as I had emptying the garbage in the parking lot during Haunt. There's a reason many of us called it the White Trash Bash.
  22. As a former Supervisor from another department: Generally we would take volunteers first. Then send home minors (less strict break times). Then send home your lower rated workers. If your son is a minor, that's probably what's going against him, unfortunately.
  23. King Island is a family park, not a park for making families.
  24. Pretty hilarious that even CGA is getting some additions even though it's time is nearing.
