No necessarily. Landscaping could mean mulching, planting trees, putting grass seed down(or whatever they use to make grass grow fast), and putting gravel in some areas. Final painting could be touch up paint on the rails of the ride and other places. Theming could mean installing props, textured/fixed lighting, and sound related items.

I’d imagine these responsibilities full under different teams.

You'd be right.  Certain portions of this might still be under the contracted parts, others would be part of Kings Island teams.  I'm guessing groups like Landscaping, the Sign Shop, Maintenance aren't covered under the employee restrictions.  Those are probably limited to the seasonal associates.

Ohio minimum wage is also $8.55 an hour and I know for a fact CP interns get payed way over that so I feel like it balances out.

Additionally, I think its subjective to where someone works. I worked in hospitality and loved it so I didn't mind working insane hours, however she might have not liked her job and felt like she was owed more.

I don't think it has anything to do with liking your job.  It's being compensated fairly for your time.

The pay rate is irrelevant.  I was making $13 an hour in Park Services, I knew the rules, I made the decision to work over 40 hours.

Just curious as to how the track has more stress on it.  The track would receive the same stress on it I would think unless the trains weighed more.

The trains likely weigh more, a lot of the supports are cantilevered and the cars swing back and forth.  That being said, the supports are of a different construction so it's not a one to one.  I also don't know the construction of the track it self is the same.

Anyone ever wonder what goes through the minds of the crew that tears down these historical structures? Like, I understand there are probably some who have zero feelings or thoughts about it since it’s just another job/pay check, but I can’t imagine there not being a single person feeling sad about tearing down so many memories. And very likely I’d imagine there has to be at least one member on the crew with their own memories of the ride.

That always crosses my mind any time these types of demolitions occur.

As a former Vortex crew member it made me really upset when I heard they were tearing it down.  The people I worked with on that crew were texting eachother and upset, so I can confirm there are a lot of people who care.

I've always been under the belief that the spine is bolted, but the rails are welded.

It would take a very good welder and a ton of time to weld the tracks together, also the connection is probably a little too rigid at that point.

Why are we desperate about having the track work done before the end of the month? So we can watch a boring web cam until the middle of March? lol Just asking for a friend.

On a side note we could check for themeing once track work is done.

You want track work done so they can start testing, which would be more exciting than watching them put 3 pieces of track in a day.

Paramount went through a kick in the mid-late 90's where they wanted a set of closed brakes between trains whenever possible.  OLFoF used to skim through the mid-course brakes.  As did Vortex.  In my personal experience, both were much better prior to the change (especially Vortex).

Both rides had limited runs in their original form after they received new control systems (or reprograms), but they didn't last long,

I'm fairly certain that Cedar Fair had a similar thing early in their operations at KI, along with removing trains on rides in the rain.

Allow me to pose the questions:

How will this affect attendance at KI?

Will it be more, less, or unchanged?

If there was a drop, would Orion and Grand Carnivale offset that?

    Why?

I have thoughts on the matter. I will share after I hear some of yours.

The only time I think it'll hurt attendance is Friday night Haunt, people won't see as much perceived value, especially when other Halloween events are open late.  The park really emptied out after 10 PM on Midnight Closes, seemed as though most people assumed they still closed at 10.

Park attendance will be up, due to Orion.

If the rate they're going continues and the weather keeps going like it is, I'm guessing they'll be finished with track work by mid-February.  The only elements left are a camel back hill, the helix, and the curve up to the brakes.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were finished by the end of the month.

Keep in mind, that day of game, the tickets are $2 more.

Yes, you can eat up in that restaurant.  My wife and I have been meaning to eat up there before a game sometime.  We always remember that when we are on our way out.

The food is pretty good, but I typically go up there on $1 beer night as they serve you beers, don't have to get up, short walk to the bathroom, plus the view is good.
