  1. Wouldn't it be easier if instead of asking for a certain row and being "assigned" to that row by a ride op, to just go to which ever row you'd like, thus eliminating the need for a ride op seat assigner? Whenever I was at the park, that concept seemed to work pretty well on all of the rollercoasters. Why is there suddenly a need for seat assignment now??
  2. What's the point of assigned seating then???
  3. Ummm...I've never met Avatar in person, but I found his comment amusing after I read it. You sound like Sarah Palin, trying to make an issue out of nothing. Avatar politely apologized for offending anyone in anyway. Should be a done deal right? Get over yourselves.
  4. I remember when I would walk past their offices and when they would see me I'd wave, and they'd be happy to wave back. Then when Cedar Fair took over, employees were no longer allowed to walk by the offices, because heaven forbid the new GM Greg Scheid didn't like looking at the lowly associates walking by...What a pompous ass.
  5. Licensing Agreements cost money. Last time I checked, Cedar Fair didn't have any money...
  6. 1. Without a doubt, the first year TR:TR was open it had the best queue. The outside had exotic plants, good music, and replica bamboo handrails. The fire was real on the outside of the cave. Once you walked into the cave there was a mysterious pattern on the wall with a gemstone in the middle perfectly accented with a spinning light design. It truly felt like you were walking through an undiscovered ancient cave. Then the movie props such as the stone monkeys were top notch, I would put it up there with Disney and Universal quality. When the light and the music worked the "stone" door would open, when the light and music worked perfectly (only for a short time) it was truly magical. This lead you into the next room where it was filled with even more real movie props. The video was okay, but the best was when the other stone door would sound and it would open. People would be so pumped when all the theming and special effects worked correctly (Again, only lasted a short time) that they would cheer while walking towards their seats. Any queue that gets you this pumped for the ride has to be the best. Unfortunately, the ride experience didn't quite live up to the hype produced by the queue line. And unfortunately PKI didn't keep up with mainainence to the queue theming AND ride theming. 2. Outer Limits: Flight of Fear, with of course, all special effects working (The video, coordinating lights, lighting inside the spaceship). This got you pumped for the ride, and the best part about it was, after the restraint conversion, the ride truly delivered! 3. (Tie) Top Gun, with the lower deck open, fog in the station, and all special effects working. 3. (Tie) Phantom Theatre. One word describes the Maestro - EPIC. 5. Days of Thunder - Action Theater. The race cars with the audio were nice touches. Plus, The Racer whizzing by from time to time was fun. I remember the pre-show video was pretty lame though. Too bad these queues either aren't around, or now completely lack what made them special!

    Ride Effects

PKI was never too quick to fix theming, or to even maintain it (eg. about half the effects actually worked when TR:TR had it's final spins). Unfortunately, Cedar Fair cares even less than Paramount/Viacom/CBS in the theming department.
  8. I heard there is a military base on the site of Kings Dominion and there is rumored to be a Saucer in a hanger. Actually I think they are mistakenly letting the general public in the hanger now...
  9. I've witnessed burning mulch, burning bushes, and burning cigarette butt receptacles at KI. Even put a few out...
  10. Is this a Cedar Fair policy, or is this a new policy? I don't ever remember this being the case after a rain storm? I don't understand it either.
  11. Congrats on the ride count. My DB ride count is a whopping 0.
  12. Most likely, what's your name? I may remember you, you may remember me. Ha.
  13. He said in his post that he knew better than to say something. I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at International Street Larosas. I fear that the Supervisor who was running the stand at the time was probably not returning the next year, and therefore on closing weekend, he or she decided that they no longer cared about their job. These types of things happen everywhere, and are usually exceptions to the rules. I wasn't trying to say that bad service never happens at Kings Island food service, but that there are people who work in Food who would go out of their way to help you and turn your bad experience into a good one, because literally that is their job. And if a supervisor isn't doing their job, and they would rather not help you with a legitimate concern, there is always guest relations. And trust me, if you go to GR, that supervisor who wasn't doing their job WILL at the very LEAST, hear about it.
  14. I knew the whole Beast crew the year the magnetic trims were added to the ride, and while they would publicly tell you that old skid brakes slowed you down just as much, the real story is they knew the magnetic trims reduced the speed. I forget the exact figure, but I think something like 54 mph? It's been awhile. It was common knowledge that with the skid brakes that the train would reach the third post on the second lift hill before the chain took over the train's momentum. After the magnetic trims, it only reached the second post. I'm not arguing that the ride isn't tearing itself apart without trims, I'm just saying the magnetic trims did infact reduce the train's speed moreso than the old skid brakes.
  15. Obviously, you didn't know better, because I'm 99% sure that if you were to ask for the manager at Street Skyline, they would have been happy to replace your food, and apologize for your inconvienence and would work on getting some utensils right away if they weren't currently doing so. Speak up next time. A closed mouth doesn't get fed.
  16. Wait a tic! Who is taking the gold? Where are they taking it? And how could you charge a price on gold when it's nowhere to be found??? Oh the humanity! -Danny Boy ...who just had to!
  17. Come on that was the best part of the ride! Haha. The drum beat that would play inside the ride would always put me in a trance!
  18. Cool. Does this mean there is a strong possibility that someone is going to do a kickflip into the fountain?!
  19. Am I the only person on here that thought when TR:TR operated in 2002 with all of the special effects working correctly and theming intact, it was unbelievably awesome?????
  20. Overcast Tuesdays have always worked out best for me!
  21. I made $10.50 an hour when I last worked in 06. I doubt you'll get that, probably somewhere around $9 an hour.
  22. Does the Nick contract last through 2009? It's pretty clear to me we're beginning to see a "phase out" of Nickelodeon. I wouldn't be surprised if next year's Howl-O-Fest included a dog and a bird.
  23. When we merged the forums, the member number stayed with you. Since you were member #911 from PKIU, that member number stayed with you. You joined PKIU before PKIC was even created.
  24. August 20, 2003. This website is almost five years old! Crazy.
