  1. I lived in Kings Mills all my life and new about the contest to name Kings Island. I sat watching the tower being constructed from the lunch room at Kings High School....Class of 73, GO KNIGHTS!!! Mike
  2. In the invitation to the employee party that was sent to all returning employees, it stated that .."BE THE FIRST TO HEAR THE NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCMENT FOR 2007!"...I guess it will be announced some time between 4:00 and 8:00 PM Saturday. Mike
  3. ...Just make sure you say hay to me when you come through admissions. Mike
  4. I lived in Kings Mills and we could always set out watches by the fire workes.....Yep...it's 10:00 PM.....and wake up to the ROAR of the lions in the early morning hours.... Mike
  5. It takes just as long to wait in line for bottle water as it does for FREE cup of ice water. Also there are drinking fountains located through out the park. Cups are far less expensive than bottled water in the first place. If one cup will not cure the thirst, just ask for another FREE refill of ice water. Mike
  6. I think that an online store for Kings Island would be a good ideal also. Mike
  7. If it is anything like it was in 2006, the processing center will be open during the week after we open on April 21 but as anything, the hours are subject to change. For security reasons, the temporary passes will be exchanged at the park and the processing only takes a couple of minutes. The best thing to do would be to either email or call the park and ask what the process will be and what the operation days and hours would be for the season pass processing center. As for the parking opening on April 21 and not sooner, the big reason might be weather but I am sure that CF made a business decision to open at that time. Mike
  8. I remember when you could buy a fountain Coke through out the park but now they have replaced it with bottles for the most part. Coke products have been herre since Kings Island opened and I hope they do not replace it with Pepsi. Mike
  9. I have completed all of my paper work and only have to have the back ground check completed and I will be ready to have my ID taken. Looking forward to the party! Mike
  10. I turned in all of my paper work this past Monday (Jan 22) into HR. I received the rehire letter on Wednesday from Admissions inviting me back. Will all the returners have to be processed prior to the party on Feb 3 to attend? Does this mean all paper work is completed and all we have to do is have our ID's taken? Mike
  11. As a big woodie fan, I think that the SOB was one of the best rides they brought to Kings Island. I worked with Charlie Dinn and one of the best rides he designed was The Beast and it was a natural that the SOB would be its off spring. I think another two rides that Paramount brought was the FOF and TR:TR. When I first rode the Tomb Raider, I was not expecting to be flipped at the very start of the ride. The sound effects and FX added to the thril of the ride. I think that the IJ has not lived up to the hype and is a disappointment. But the best thing that Paramount did was to make the park a place for the family to come and enjoy and Nick Universe was the best area that they created. I look forward to the future and believe that Cedar Fair will add to the thril!! Mike
  12. I read that very same article in the Dayton Daily News also. It did not report nothing that has not already been discussed here or on the press releases. Mike
  13. I worked in admissions and I received that same letter today inviting me back for 2007. Mike
  14. Hey! I take offense to the Mason Comets joke! ....actually, no I don't, they do suck. Never mind. I am from KINGS and we are right next door.....GO KNIGHTS!!!! Mike, class of '73
  15. I was over at KI and saw the bright neon green metal track in the parking lot by the construction area. Also the guy I spoke with in HR confirmed it to the best of his knowledge. Mike
  16. We are sure on the ball at PKIC on this issue! Mike
  17. The new Kings Island logo that is on the season passes is what the logo will look like. I ask the guy in HR about it when I dropped off my rehire packet. He showed me the letter head with the very same logo on it and said it is the logo that will be used. It is also the same design that is on the sign as you drive through the employee entrance. Just a matter of time before they replace the BIG sign out front, if not this year or next. Mike
  18. I dropped by HR to drop off my completed rehire packet and ask the HR guy: Is X-Flight coming to Kings Island? He said, yes, he is 99.99% sure it is. Also there are bright neon green metal tubs over by the construction area in the parking lot. Was not able to drive over there and see it. Mike
  19. I think one thing we all can agree on is that the "paramount" will not be part of any new logo design and that Kings Island (and other parks) will be know just by their original name instead of "Paramount" <insert name>. It will not be known at Cedar Fair Kings Island but just Kings Island with maybe the CF logo pictured. Mike
  20. I was an admissions supervisor last year...Why is it not a good idea to not print the picture on season passes? It drasticly decreses the time it takes for us to process passes becuase we dont have to print your pass: you get it right at the terminal. No, she wasnt joking...we really do check and sometimes it is hard to tell. 1) Multiple passes in a household and confusion between them as there are no names or photos on it. 2) Computer glitches when and if the photos don't show. (I know when it happens at my gym, they just let ya in - will that happen at the park?) 3) ..... Thats why we have you put your name on the back (yourself)....So if you cant read our own writing.... Exactly...this post says it all GIB is correct on all of the above. I worked with Greg in Admissions and I always verfied the picture on the pass. There was a couple of occasions where the person had used a stolen pass and tried to gain entry. A couple of times they took the wrong family members pass. We were instructed to have the pass holder sign the pass in our presence after we took their picture. Some pass holders would try to give their pass to a friend to use and each pass can only be scaned once each day. If it is attemped to use again, it shows up as a big RED X on our screen. Mike
  21. At the end of last season, I have not heard any news regarding placing decals on the windshields for parking. We still attached the parking pass in the seasson pass when they were processed. When I go out to the park on Monday, I can always ask Jerry or Jason if this is the case. Mike
  22. I work in the admission department and processed season passes last year. I have not heard what the hours and days will be this year yet but last year, we opened the SP processing center on the weekends and during the week. As stated in the previous posts, buy your season passes online and fill out the online form and just bring it to the park to be processed. No waiting in line to fill out the cards. It only takes a few minutes to take the pictures and scan the forms. As for the temp paper passes that were issued last year, the process is very simple: All we need to do is scan the paper pass, scan the perm pass and the process is complete. All the details and picture are transfered to the new pass and it only takes a minute or so. There has been questions as to why the picture is not printed on the pass. The reason is it saves time by not having to wait for the pass to be printed and it decreases the load on the server. When you come to the park, the pass is scaned and your picture pops up on our computer screen and we verifiy that the picture matches the pass holder. We had a few instances where the pass had been stolen and we retained the pass or the pass holder had taken the pass of a family member by mistake. In that case, a supervisor will look up the pass holder's details and admit them on this one instance. I hope this answers some of the questions. Mike
  23. I second something like a museum to show case the history of Kings Island. Mike
  24. I always wear shoes that are good for walking and being on my feet. I wear a good walking or running shoe. Mike
