  1. I have been going to Kings Island ever since I was first employeed back in 1972 and have experienced all that the park can offer since then. There are lots of things that I would like to see brought back at Kings Island but the very most important things that can be done is to continue to bring the THRILLS and FUN for the entire family, from the very young to the older adults. When the entire family comes into the park, have them come in from the gloom into the bright sun shine of a brand new day. Bring back the 'themed" area of each part of the park, where the guests can notice the difference between each section of the park, from the music, dinning, shows and attractions. From the eye popping attractions for the kids, the thrill of the mega coaster for the young adults, milder rides for the rest of the family and the fun of the shows for the older adults that are watching the fun of everyone else, especially the smiles from the young kids. This is what I would like to see..... Mike
  2. I have to ask my friend that works in the maint department at Kings Island and see just what the straight dope is..... Mike
  3. I will find out when I go out to HR on Friday. Maybe another wind storm will blow by and take down the old KI sign out front.... ..and put up a sign with the "P" word missing?? Mike
  4. Thanks....I will be working at the toll booths....It was much easier having the parking on the season pass. We only had to scan it. Now if that is true, we will have to look for the decal on the car. Time will tell.... Mike
  5. To the best of my knowledge by working in the admission dept is that the only perk for seasson pass holders to be removed is the "gold" pass parking area. Lets face it, on the slow days for them to bring a friend free day and early ride times are on the slow days and have more spending while they are in the park. Mike
  6. The dollar amount on the Best Buy card was $10 or $20 depending on the number of shifts were worked. This was an incentive for people to stay and work shifts in the fall. I still miss the $1/bonus per hour worked if you worked until the end of the season. I wish CF would bring that back. Mike
  7. I agree. We were very busy at admissions during the spring and during Fearfest. There were big crowds during Fearfest and the weather was very nice for all the days except for the last Friday in October. Mike
  8. I just read on the pki4fun.com web site that the 2007 hiring packet will soon be available. It sounds like we (KI returners) should be receiving our rehire packet soon. Will wait and see... Mike
  9. Must be using "fuzzy math" in this release.... The proof of the pudding will be when the figures are released for the 2007 season.... Mike
  10. Based on what I heard there is a big demand for a campground. Mike
  11. I am a big woodie fan and would hit the SOB and The Beast and The Racer! Mike
  12. I was there also when they filmed it. Same when the Partrige Family were there.... Mike
  13. I saw that vid and that kid was up to no good!! That was no young kid that did not know better but a brat that was playing around Tigger's back and Tigger just reacted. That father just sees a quick buck and knowing the industry, Disney will be quick to pay out just to appease them. If that was me doing that, my father would had spanked my rear end right there!! Mike
  14. I wonder if GWL will offer any perks for Kings Island employees to use the water park? KI can even allow them entrance to Kings Island if they do....Just thinking out loud.... Mike
  15. Kings Island is a FUN place to work at!! Besides having fun, you will also meet lots of new friends while working there. Kings Island was my very first job when I was a junior at Kings High School in 1972 and have spent a total of 11 seasons there. Enjoy! Mike
  16. It is one thing for a kid to soak someone that is fully clothed but an adult doing the same thing is something all together. Mike
  17. I recieved my rehire packet in January and we filled out the online application and sent back the forms that HR included. I also have not recieved my year book either. For that matter, all operations associated were promised a Best Buy gift card if we worked a certain amount of shifts in August, and the fall. So far I have not even received it and was told it would all be sent out at the end of the season. MIke
  18. I would venture that GWL has paid for the right to call itself "Offical resort for Kings Island" and they would both cross promote each other. As for a special entrance or shuttle service it would all be a matter of time to see what happens. They can have their own van just like Kings Island Resort and Conference Center has. Mike
  19. In 94 while working in HP as a litter gitter, I had a kid running and not watching where he was going, run right up the back of my leg. I hated when the parents were not watching their kids and let them do what ever they wanted without regards for their safety. But I did not let it bother me and the kid was just happy for the thrill of being there. Mike
  20. Disney I am sure told all innvolved to make no comments and direct all comments to be made by their PR department. By even giving any sort of an apology would admit guilt and open the legal flood gates. And the attorney only wants an apology? Yea right..... Mike
  21. I worked to the end of October and I have not been mailed a rehire packet (yet). Last season, we had our rehire packet mailed by now and I hope they do not change the format. I will contact my manager and see what the deal is. Mike
  22. One of the higher paid positions are the pan and broomers that start at $8/hour and rest room cleaners making more. The admissions area pays $6.45/hour for a returner. In the 90's, we were paid a $0.50 per hour bonus at the end of the season and that made it kind of nice. Wait and see what it will be this year. Mike
  23. The older logo is much better than the one that is on the pki web site. That logo (if it is the offical logo) is too plain and does not add character. Things really went down hill for KI when Paramount took over. I think better days are here now that Cedar Fair took over. Mike
  24. I also think that the original logo from 1972 should had been brougt back. But who knows, that still might happen. I am sure the marketing people are looking at the design that will have a name recognition that people can identify with. We will know something is going on when they begin to change the PKI web site with a new logo and change the sign out front. Mike
