  1. Fox19 has their news broadcast at 10PM, so would it be possible they might broadcast the announcement as "breaking news" live on their news broadcast? They can then claim to be first to broadcast the big news out of Kings Island ahead of all the other TV stations.

  2. If Kings Island was not built, Fess Parker had might had been successful in building his theme park in Northern Kentucky. My home town of Kings Mills would still be a sleepy town and the Kings Mills Road interchange at I-71 might had become congested with office parks and shopping centers rather than an amusement park. This might what might be happening at this very moment in an alternate reality with the Kings Local Schools fast becoming the largest school district in the State of Ohio.

  3. At Kings Island all credit card users have to show a valid government picture ID before using it to make a purchase. You would be surprised how many teens try to use their parents credit/debit card when they go to the park without their parent being with them. Or if an adult uses their credit card and they leave their ID in their car. Also, sign the back of your credit/debit card. The merchant should compare the signature on the back of the card against the signature on the credit card receipt.

  4. When I go to the water park, I only carry the essentials such as a towel, flip flops, sun screen and a paper back book to read. I carry my ID, credit card, small amount of cash and car keys in a water proof container worn around my neck. I leave my cell phone and other valuables locked in the trunk of my car. As for the high price of food and the lockers, remember you are in the park and unless you go outside to eat, you will want to buy something. It is no different when you go to a professional baseball or football game where you are confined. Same with the price to park.

  5. Everyone are sure the name is going to be Banshee, based on all of the teasers. But what if that is not the name? What if the latest clue being sent to the media with the silver comb and the gray hair is the clue what the actual name might be? Could the silver come and gray mean the new record breaker will be called, Silver Streak? If this is indeed the name, who will be laughing their heads off as they eat their Snicker bar? As for me, I prefer Baby Ruth's over Snickers. Just a thought.

  6. If they were to have a huge main water break that would take most of the day to fix, unless the had a water tower to provide water for toilets, fire mains and drinking, it would seem the fire department would force them to close. Look at that cruise ship that had no electrical power to power the pumps for the toilets, and drinking water and see all the open sewage the passengers had to put up with. In the case of no water due to the main water main be down and no back up water tower, there would be no water for the fire hydrants and for the restrooms.

  7. I always considered being a sweep or litter getter as we were always called, as bing the best job at the park. Granted we had to stand on our feet all day as we walked our assigned area, but that beats being confined to a small area. We had to entire area to walk and meet the guests and the time went fast because of that. Plus, the financial rewards the job had made it one of the best jobs in the park. But one of the worse jobs in the park had to be the workers on the late great Antique Cars. Those workers had to really physically handle those cars through out the day and bust their chops.

  8. They started the thread for users to start guessing and speculating what the new construction would be in the first place. The park was even involved in posting teasers regarding what it might be. It seems strange it was pulled down after the incident that Ryan talked about. Was it this that caused KIC to pull the thread? I have my opinions but I would rather not discuss them here.

  9. Why would people break the law just to get some scoop on what the new construction might be? But we are assuming what was seen was someone from here trying to get the scoop.

Now if you really want to know what happen, try going to the Mason Court web site and search for arrests and court dates and see who it was.

  10. I use my iMac instead of my pc. I also have a laptop, and an iPad. I was up at my sisters house this past week and her pc keep freezing and hanging up when I was surfing the net. My iPad is much faster than the pc.

  11. Don't forget that during these hot, humid days, people perspire a lot and sweating is the body's way of cooling its body temperature. Granted there are some people that do not have the best hygiene, but that would be a very small portion of the guests at the park. But when you have people riding rides with the restraints tightly against their body, there is bound to be some transfer of perspiration due to the large number of guests that ride.

  12. I would normally be working at the park that day but I think I might request to be off for this event! I can get a chance to see everybody and enjoy the day. Even though I can't ride the coasters due to spinal issues with my neck, I can still have fun that day.

  13. I always found sweeps or litter getters, as we used to be called, was one of the best jobs in the park. We were not confined to just one small area but had our entire area to sweep and talked to guests as we went about our duties. Unless you were working a double shift, you either worked an early to sweep and prepare the park to open, or open shift working until around 4pm or so and finally, working a closing shift. Yes, when it rained we had to work in it. If the guests were in the rain, then we worked in the rain while wearing our rain gear. The heat and sun does not matter as long as you keep yourself well hydrated and wear a protective hat and sun screen to protect the skin. But I did remember when I came back to work in 1992 in mid-season, all of the hats had been used and I was forced to work in Water Works without any head gear to protect my bald head. I received a very bad sun burn that blistered my head. But all the sweeps work very hard to keep the park clean and their hard work really shows.

  14. I agree with the restroom attendant being one of the worse jobs at the park. I have done that when it was first given to us in park services in the 90's and the guest can really be gross at times. I would rather clean up dog poo in pet care than cleaning up after some disgusting humans. But then the financial rewards it offered was worth it.

  15. He must also get mad when the traffic backs up on the road because some slow driver causing a traffic jam causing him to be several minutes late. I wonder if he rushes at his job to get his production up? If so does he do it 5 days, 52 weeks a year? Rushing all day long will cause workers to get burned out and mistakes will happen. With mistakes causes accidents. Hurried work is worried work.

  16. Today's tickets have bar codes and once scanned, records the data from it. In the old days, you just had the ticket and it was accepted and it was easy to reproduce fake ones. If a ticket has already been used, it will show as invalid it is used again.

  17. When I get in line for a ride, if it takes 30 minutes before I get onto the ride, so be it. Another time, the wait might be longer. It might be 1 hour or even on a crowded day, it might take 2 hours. I do not notice if they busting their chops as I feel if they are rushing all the time to make the line shorter, something might go wrong. I have always had a saying, "hurried work is worried work." So what if the wait might be shorten by 15 minutes or so? If the ride ops were to constantly bust their chops all day long, how soon before the young kids get burnt out and decide that being a ride op is not for them? Are other workers at the park judged by how fast they do their job? Does that sweep constantly rush to get that piece of trash swept up and rush to get that next piece of trash swept up? Does that person filling your food order work fast enough for you? Do you feel that if they work very fast to fill that next order, your wait might be cut by 3 minutes or so? When you leave the park and visit other businesses, do you judge those workers by how fast they do their job? What about that cashier or bagger at Kroger's? Maybe if we have them all wear roller skates they would go faster. All of this rushing that workers like ride ops and other must do reminds me of the story of the turtle and the hare. The hare races and rushes to get to the finish line while the turtle paces himself and when the hare burns himself out, the turtle over takes him and wins the race. Now don't get me wrong, the workers should not goof off during their job, but they should not have to constantly rush themselves in their attempt to increase production. A runner can run greater distances by pacing themselves rather than the sprinter who sprints as fast as he can but runs out of steam. Now does the average park goer that is in line for Diamondback look at the same things you look at? I remember waiting in a long line for The Beast and The Bat and I did not complain about how long it took. The park was very crowded and the large crowd and the popularity of the ride were why the line was long. That was the price I paid for wanting to ride The Beast and The Bat. It is the same with the average park goer that waits in line also.

  18. If you are going to only be there for 3 hours or so, eat before you arrive at the park and then just buy a pop and a pretzel or popcorn to hold you over till the end. There is no need to buy a complete meal at the park. Save your money for the pop and snacks. If you have a refillable cup, just pay the refill price.
