  1. I'm sure the launch has something to do with it, however the top two pictures have a cylinder shape on the bottom of the track, not B&M's traditional box shape.
  2. If they only get a one year attendance boost, then this is going to be a financial loss. The park cannot afford to return to their normal attendance figures. It was only a few years ago that the park had a "management" change. I'm not sure that many of their past business decisions were made with this future coaster in mind. A B&M coaster really surprised me. If it wasn't for all the hints, I really would have expected a ride similar in cost and design to Lightning Run.
  3. Cedar Point's version takes forever to stop.
  4. I assume it was from this day. On that last picture, the park sure has changed a lot. I wish I could find more older pictures of the park. Edit: One last picture.
  5. Not never. Back when Paramount owned the park, several rides had POV's.
  6. Many years ago I bought one of the Kings Island flash drives where you were allowed to put 4 pictures on the drive. Already on the flash drive was a PDF license file from the park, giving me the okay to print the pictures anywhere. I don't know if this email will give you a similar license file or not.
  7. They found the one hill and built the park on top of it.
  8. It's right off the freeway in Mason, but it looks like it's around $200 for that weekend. A quick search brought me to Super 8 in Mason for $143.75 with tax. I've heard nice things about that Super 8 on this site.
  9. That makes sense. I wish that wasn't the case, I think the ride would look much better with that section filled.
  10. Could they at least fill the tench with water and not have the sprayers on? That would prevent the corrosion and have the ending not look as bad.
  11. Yesterday I went to the 4H Fair at Stricker's Grove. It was my 7th time I believe visiting this small park, one that everyone needs to check out. We drove 4 hours round trip for a park that was only open for 4.5 hours yesterday, but it's worth it. During the 4H fair, crowds are a lot smaller then normal. There were many times that the current ride cycle would only stop once someone else got in line. We rode the train one time, with literally only the conductor and the other ride op on the train. A few changes I noticed: Gone are the old push and hold faucets in the bathroom (at least in the men's.) They have finally been replaced with a standard faucet. I know it's small, but I really hated the old ones. TipTop had most of it's lights on the outside of the ride replaced. Last year only a handful of them were working, so it was really nice to see almost all of them on. Tilt-a-Whirl also had most of it's lights replaced on the outside of the ride. The Swing Ship has a sign next to the height chart that says "New for 2015". This sign has read "New in 2014" and "New in 2013" in years past... I believe the carousel had received new lights. I'm not 100% positive on this, but I don't remember it looking that nice. Tornado had a lot of primer on it at various points, and quite a few gallons of paint of primer below the ride. Stricker's Tilt-a-Whirl had often been one of those rides where you just get stuck on the outside of the ride, and you can't go anywhere. While we had a few rides like that, majority of them we spun around quite a few times. Same thing with their Scrambler. In the past it was so slow. While it's not nearly as fast as Kings Island, I thought it was perfect. Just fast enough to really move you to the side of the car, but slow enough that a second passenger didn't hurt. It seemed like a new ride to me. While the ride was down all day, Electric Rainbow received a new coat of paint (it's now orange and yellow). While the rides opened at 5:30, Tornado didn't start until 6:00. They were working on something with the train, and one of their test cycles ended up getting stuck on the final turn around. We were one of the first riders when it opened, and it just ran so slow. Even in the back, the drop that it's famous for was really non existent. As the night went on, the ride definitely picked up the pace, but it still seemed slower then in the past. Now, my only petty complaint. The drinking fountain still wasn't working (it was down when I visited in October last year), and they were charging $.25 for small or $.50 for a large cup of water. I guess I could see why they would charge if the water fountain was working, but with the water fountain out, I felt like it should have been free. Here's a link to a few pictures that I took during my trip: http://imgur.com/a/hIqgA#0
  12. Thanks. I'm going tomorrow... maybe one day I'll get to ride the ship.

If that's truly the case, it'll be interesting to see what happens with Firehawk, probably our worst capacity coaster. When I was at Cedar Point during Coaster Mania, I found it surprising that Millennium Force had a separate Fast Lane wait time sign. (Sort of unrelated, but we are talking about Fast Lane.)
  14. Not sure where to put this, I don't want to create a new topic for one question. But did anyone go to Stricker's Grove today? Was the pirate ship open?
  15. Received the following email from GOCC. I just want to post so others can take action.
  16. Mean Streak was actually very fun last time I rode it! Wasn't painful for me! The ride is still fine! I rode it at CoasterMania and I didn't think it was rough this year (although I was in the front row.) With that being said though, I find the layout boring. The lack of a line for this ride makes me believe the general public either agrees with me that it's boring, or has sworn off the ride from previous rough years. Watching some old POV's of the old Texas Giant, I find a lot of similarities between the two coasters.
  17. I understand the desire to transform a few of these rough coasters (and I would be happy if Cedar Fair used RMC for Mean Streak), however it seems that this pace has Six Flags transforming or closing all of their wooden coasters in just a few short years. I would hate to see what would happen to The Beast if Six Flags owned the park.
  18. I think Six Flags has declared a war on their wooden coasters...
  19. I want to go back to Kennywood now. I went last summer sort of on a whim, and I feel like I missed quite a few of their signature attractions.
  20. I wanted to add this. It's taken from Hotel Conneaut's Facebook, so take it with a grain of salt. https://www.facebook.com/HotelConneaut/posts/10152280790919160
  21. "Trustees of Conneaut Lake Park out of deal with state AG's office" http://www.meadvilletribune.com/local/x1760099718/New-governing-board-for-Conneaut-Lake-Park-is-named It seems a little optimistic to get a new board together, have them agree on the purposed plan, and present the plan to the county commissioners all by next week.
  22. It wasn't that long ago that people were talking about Disney doing dynamic pricing.
  23. It looks like you were there at night, how did Thunderbolt's headlights look?
