  1. I get the sentiment but if it fell through and this group buys up more shares. Then Six Flags could just get sold off to developers because that would give more money to the shareholders. Which would obviously destroy the parks. So I’ve changed my tune on the merger.
  2. Pretty sure RMC has already replaced most if not all the gravity sections of track on Blazing Fury. Also the water splashdown was replaced years ago with magnetic breaking. DW has done some ride surveys though with both dark rides and an indoor coaster but with Wildwood Grove style theming. Not saying they won’t eventually replace Blazing Fury but for now it seems they are invested in maintaining it. With Fire in the Hole original closing also seems they can gain a lot of parts they could refurbish to keep BF going for a long time.
  3. Wow my bad.. I could’ve sworn they were four across. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. If this is indeed Zamperla which it seems it likely will be. How will the 4 across lightning trains have clearance on that downward spiral? Would they make a 2 across version or are the clearances bigger than I'm thinking?
  5. While not a huge difference per Zamperla's website the 48 seater is 1.5 meters larger in diameter (likely just how double seats would center versus single) and .4 meters more in height during operation (that part I'm not sure what makes up the difference unless the seat connection hardware is slightly taller)
  6. In regards to the capacity of the Endeavour, I do wonder if the 48 seat model has similar issues to the OG Enterprises. Some people are happy to sit beside someone but I often see people wanting their own row/car/cage whatever with flat rides in general. While the 48 technically can hold double the amount of people when you factor in everything else I really doubt actual capacity doubles. I'm more upset that Der Spinnin Ke.... I mean Cargo Loco doesn't have a tilting platform.
  7. I think it new additions or a new entrance will solely depend what the fair board ends up doing. I remember one of the recent proposals had the road re-routed which would unify the park and be a curious tale of how they would utilize that space. However I haven't seen the road re-routing in the most recent plans where they've even talked about boring a tunnel to connect the fairgrounds to downtown. I think Herschend is taking a wait and see approach and with good reason, so I believe we'll only see minimal investment until that's all sorted.
  8. Has the Summer Pass been available for a while or is that new?
  9. ^While the saucer could have equal or more strength not being a saucer the visual appeal wouldn't be as nice. One ride benefit to the saucer is that it changes the envelope clearance. You could do the same maneuver with an open top tube or an enclosed one but adding the additional space to one side allows you to flatten what would otherwise be the tube. Even though in normal conditions you'd be well on the outside wall of the turn you can't cut away that portion of the tube you're not normally riding on, with the saucer you can cut that back. Granted it doesn't really need to be a full saucer shape, but it looks cooler that way.
  10. Diversity in a ride line-up seems like a good thing. I still love Kings Island but when SOB was around and King Cobra and even Recar the park seemed like it offered just as much as they do today if not perhaps a little bit more then. As for being two across I think there's a few reasons. More compact layout, quicker dispatches, and just that vest restraints take up more horizontal space. It doesn't have to be a top 10 ride or even the best ride at the park. It just needs to be a fun ride that's a little different. At one point it seemed as though the stand-up was a staple at the major parks, I wish it still was.
  11. I really get the feeling this will be the family launch coaster Zamperla introduced but normal launch and no turntable. At first I was a bit sad at that thought but then remembered Busch Gardens went with Zierer for Verbolten. Allows more money for theming which I think this will have a fair amount. Plus they have the multiple train types which I think they'll go with the Hargrid's knock off moto-coaster with side car style.
  12. With the second resort announced and them even planning #3, #4, and #5 I wonder how far out we are from them exploring another gate. I have no doubt they can continue to grow the current park and water park but I'm not sure it needs to grow all too much more. Feels like it'll soon get to a point to where if they want to keep the charm and with the already difficult to traverse terrain, some investing might be better suited to a new project.
  13. If someone would go to Vekoma and be like we appreciate what you've been doing recently but we want to give you B&M type money what can you do? I think the outcome could be amazing and something I would like to see replace Vortex. Edited to add... or S&S Axis coaster.
  14. Maybe Cedar Fair will give Knott's a mirrored version of Jersey Devil... just kiddin but would almost be hilarious if it happened. Still wouldn't be a bad investment necessarily.
  15. I think the tale of whether this is on par or better with Fury is how that helix at the end rides. Fury is great before and after it's meandering helix so if this one is forceful it could on par. Really if you take Fury's helix out the length would be very similar. Sad though this doesn't have anything extra to it... like no tunnels, splashdowns, or dives under a bridge. I'm sure it's gonna be great fun though regardless.
  16. The blueprints I believe to be real the layout I question. The coloring in areas doesn't seem typical for such drawings.
  17. Thinking of a giga I think a charcoal grey with medium blue track would be pretty sweet, example Blue Hawk SFOG. I imagine X Base will change drastically with this addition, while I do love Flight of Fear I would be happy to see it adjust with the new ride. Maybe even change X Base to Outpost 5, update but respect Flight of Fear, reach the sky with the giga, and in a year or two add a Sky Roller or something like that in the area. Everything could keep the spirit of the area and improve simultaneously.
  18. Definitely not the simplest solution but definitely interesting. Brings back memories of the old Hardee's (Carl's Jr I'm not sure which you call it up there) anyway at one time they had the drive thru but where the entrance was would put the drivers side on the wrong side of the building. So they had a little tiny room with a drink machine and this crazy conveyor system that they would load the food on inside and transport to the drive thru attendant. Later on they expanded a bit and moved the entrance of the drive thru to the front of the building eliminating the need for the conveyor. Was definitely odd before but was quite the sight to see as a young one, I imagine some young and old alike will have a similar feeling to this contraption. What I would really like to see in the future is for ride manufacturers to solve the problem. What I think would work great for new train concepts is to add essentially a glove box. Have it unlock when the train is in the station and lock upon dispatch. Would give riders a convenient spot to store their cell phone, keys, wallet, etc and prevent access during the ride. If you have things bigger than would fit then I'm okay with parks saying you'll need to rent a locker of course unless it's something medically necessary. Plus there's some opportunity to add to the theme of the ride. I'm not saying go retrofit every ride, though some would be feasible. Instead put it in the thought process when designing a next generation train or other ride vehicle.
  19. Having not seen it in person there's just a few things that would make it much more impressive looking through the pics. I think this would have been a great time to reintroduce the rock and junipers (?) that used to border the fountain originally. The sod is just meh, and seems like an unnecessary upkeep decision as well. I am glad that they didn't go lagoon dark fountain but as it is now it just seems so bright giving the water a white look, a medium blue would have been a more formal look. Lastly I don't hate the light stands but think they should have been for fountain show purposes, having in pool lights being used primarily for ambiance without always needing the light stands flanking the sides. Also didn't think I'd miss the pedestals as much as I do but I think changing the other things could make me miss them considerably less.
  20. I feel like this argument gets overlooked far too much. People aren't really getting drunk on $10 beers they are doing it by chugging them down in the parking lot. If you take away the option inside the park it only gets worse. It's like going to a Football game in the SEC where alcohol isn't sold inside but you still gotta deal with drunks. People that are gonna drink are gonna drink. It's far better to provide the option inside where you can control it and high prices are one way of doing so but also to be able to observe. Now sure it's still gonna happen outside and maybe security needs to do a better job at identifying such upon entry but banning sales inside ain't gonna fix anything and will likely make it worse. That said I love the option of having a drink or two when at the park. The park loves making the money off it too.
  21. It appears that Whitewater still sells flumes and some other cool water rides. Mack has some nice water rides though too and Cedar Fair at least has showed some interest in working with them. https://www.whitewaterwest.com/product-category/water-rides/ oh and Sansei (sadly the closest we get to Arrow anymore) has some traditional flumes https://www.sansei-technologies.com/eng/product/play/rapid_ride.php
  22. Maybe I'm just wanting to hear the similarities but...
  23. This whole addition by subtraction theme in parks the past year or two has been bittersweet. I know some things must leave for certain reasons just seems really prevalent of recent. Kings Island with Firehawk, Kennywood with Log Jammer, Carowinds with RRR & whatever the name was of their Congo Falls equivalent, IOA with the Dragons, and Dollywood with thankfully just rumored at this point Slidewinder but have lost a lot recently while adding, and nearly forgot SDC with their rapids ride. As much is gained so much is lost. I had to wait to bring up Volacano :'(
  24. The map was posted on Carowinds Facebook page as well. With that said it leaves Carowinds with 0 dry park water rides when they once had 4 and maybe something I'm forgetting. Sorry for not using actual names in some cases but I recall their log flume, the super flume, super saturator, now the rapids. All while keeping it's location in the south?
  25. Once the park builds a giga most anything built afterwards would be smaller things. Personally living nearly equal distance to Kings Island and Carowinds, the latter especially now with Copperhead Strike is becoming the more appealing park. Still love Kings Island though especially during late night private events.
