  1. Could be that as the ride currently is it has reached the end of its service life. Sure a refurb could extend this life but barring that refurb time is more limited. Refurb may also be much simpler and effective once disassembled. SFOG said Wheelie reached the end of it's service life but Fun Spot picked it up refurbed it and it continues on today. This doesn't mean either park is misleading anyone.
  2. ^Beech Bend says hello. Although that said if Kentucky Kingdom were able to team up with them and take their rides down there (which I believe they can't legally) they could have a pretty good park. I'd rather Nashville get their own though and for Louisville to have their own as well.
  3. Here's a video showing off the Mack idea.
  4. I definitely think a coaster could fit especially if you include outdoor sections. I also really like the ideas of a water dark ride. But if you really wanted to blow it out of the park I think you could make one up even Tomb Raiders orginal idea. With the advancements in 3D Projection Mapping you could do wonders to create whatever enviroment you could imagine. (Dreaming sequence here) But I'd love to see a tracked Kuka arm coaster. Keep it family friendly by allowing each arm to select an intensity level. Or to make it much more budget friendly maybe use the rotating suspended coaster trains that Mack produces.
  5. No matter how good the restaurant even good vendors can send you infested produce on thankfully rare occasion. Anytime there's mass produced food contamination becomes a possibility. Not something to desire to think about but it happens. Good restaurants react accordingly but most all have to react.
  6. While the document seems to indicate B&M and 2020 aren't these things usually more about when work is to commence. Meaning just as likely the construction starts in 2020 and opening 2021. Not what we want to hear but seems possible.
  7. Final guess for me is Antique Cars with an RMC traditional retracking of Racer and hopefully a Skylab replacement. Maybe the new Zamperla version as a nod to the previous and "new". Hopefully The Racer rehab also includes new trains from a manufacturer that encourages backwards operation but that is 2 to 4 new trains so that's pretty costly so not expecting that. As for the cars the dream would use the Flight Commander pad as a roundabout loading station with the road venturing off into the D.A. area but maybe mimicking the old Auto Roller Coaster when closeto the midway.
  8. Here's Dollywood's blog about the area. https://blog.dollywood.com/index.php/2018/08/03/dollywoods-new-land-offers-attractions-experiences/ Definitely think it's a good addition surprised River Battle wasn't part of it but still hoping that gets reinstalled at some point. The water park would be a great place for it.
  9. What's beyond out of the box thinking? Because I'd love to see RMC re-imagine Vortex. Maybe with T-Rex track, maybe with Rapor track, or beyond with Topper Track. We know they can make wood coasters something entirely different than they were before but what could they do with a coaster that's currently steel?
  10. Photo posted by ACE Southeast via Facebook With the announcement just hours away I've grown more excited of what may come. With the recent teasing and the name drop this could be a great addition. I may be wrong but it seems to be an "enchanted forest" theme. With the park comparing this new land to rival Disney I'm getting the feeling of what I've affectionately termed "Redneck Avatar Land" may be created. Of course there won't be blue people in this version unless they include the Appalachian Blue People (best not to look into that). In all seriousness though I think this is Dollywood's shot to cement their spot on the map. The new area likely won't include some major thrills but I think this is where they define their future. Not a whole lot is known other than 8 new attractions and a restaurant. One is allegedly an Orkanan clone whic Another a swinging boat ride, rumored that River Battle will be reinstalled up there, a pony track ride which I'm sure is likely to be like Moose on the Loose another ride Herschend installed when operating Darien Lake. Then a play area, a new restaurant, and other attractions. Only a few hours away to find out. Link to Friday August 3rd, 2018 morning announcement (10am EST I think?) http://bit.ly/2OcUDf2 #DW2019
  11. Much like an older car I think the situation could be more like if we do this for $ we can keep it open til Labor Day. If we want to keep it going longer it's gonna be this $$. Well was probably going to get rid of it anyway but would be nice to keep it just a little bit longer but gotta start shopping soon. Like an old car you can do a little bit of maintenance and keep it going for a short time or you pay for the rebuild and keep it going a lot longer. Sometimes you just need that little bit longer instead. The Huss version isn't like losing the 68 Stingray.
  12. There's a big assumption being made that the launch is even the issue. It was rumoured before and the park said there was no issue with the launch. Granted this round they have been fairly quiet but many of the rumblings recently has been with actual track work where the "pothole" developed at the base of the main drop. Given the terrain the ride was placed in its possible some spots settled more than expected. They addressed and spoke of addressing a similar issue before but more recent ride reports express the jolt in that spot had become more pronounced.
  13. With upmost respect to you, and I'm sorry to hear of your health concerns. However would there be any reason not to put the I.C.E. numbers on a card or piece of paper and keep in your pocket?
  14. I like the idea of putting pouches on the trains similar to what Tomb Raider/Crypt had. Maybe even an advanced version that locked upon dispatch and wouldn't unlock til back to the station. Then you just have a sign with a pouch saying if your items do not fit within this pouch you may not proceed past this point, items larger must be placed within a locker before entering line. In future train designs manufacturers could create little glove compartments to hold your smaller items, phone, keys, wallet, etc. Then add to that enforce the rules more ruthlessly. If someone disregards the loose article policy kick them out of the park without question and ban them upon secondary offenses. Perhaps even go to legislature to create large fines for those breaking the rules perhaps even creating law (if it doesn't exist already) that a rider that disobeys loose item policies may face charges for assault or worse if their item injures another rider.
  15. Let me first say I'm no Steelers fan by any means (except for their 3rd string QB) but I don't believe it's like Kennywood is drowning at all. I think they are catering to their base. I think it's a wonky looking ride that seems great at the same time. No doubt if Cedar Fair decided to go for a sports tie in they could create a much more polished product than what Kennywood will likely deliver. Polished isn't always better though and I think it works for the area Kennywood is in. Parques Reunido's doesn't often spend much compared to some and if an NFL partnership helps offset the cost more power to them. As for Kings Island I'd go with the Red's if you wanted a tribute area. Cedar Point the Cavaliers, Carowinds the Panthers, heck you could finally give Michigan's Adventures something, and why they never teamed up with the 49ers next door in Santa Clara I'll never understand. If done well I think they could be a huge draw for parks.
  16. ^I like where you're thinking. If you angle structures in a way you can force the eye to focus away from undesirable objects. I'll definitely consider this in the next drawing. However the option to beautify rooftops also exists. Maybe a mix of both?
  17. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I really would like to create a truer representation if anyone has some photo's I could reference and want to send them to me it'd be much appreciated. Pictures of the entrance from the front are fairly easy to find but sides and angles would really help greatly. Interior areas an extra bonus. Also if anyone has some ideas to tweak the idea or something else you'd like to see the building do (example I've thought about including a performance balcony on either the front or rear) let me know I like playing around with this stuff. No deadlines though I'm not getting paid for this.
  18. Here's a newer render of the rear side of the main entrance idea. My laptop lacks some capability so it could be better for sure but the idea is conveyed.
  19. Thanks that's pretty much what I was going for using the existing roofline. I however was using mostly memory and Google maps when drawing and since I only get up there once every year or so what it looks like currently isn't very fresh in the mind. Sent from my LG-SP320 using Tapatalk
  20. A bit of a bump but was playing around in Sketchup and decided to update one of my front gate ideas. This time with a representation of a front gate coaster.
  21. The wheels definitely make a difference in how the ride feels. That said Outlaw Run at least began with steel wheels on topper track. I think that may have changed though. I say just view classifications differently and have "traditional" wooden and "non traditional" wooden coasters. I agree that topper track and for that matter plug and play aren't traditional wooden construction. But they have a lot of argument to be under wooden coaster classification. 22. ^Several coasters have done just that. With only portions of the track being replaced by topper track. Tremors continues doing this and Georgia Cyclone did before being converted to Ibox. To me though the topper track still ride like a wooden coaster. Granted a new and well maintained wooden coaster. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using Tapatalk
  23. ^Pretty much the best option. Just make sure the Gold Pass goes to the one that's always gonna go. Growing up my folks often gave me the gold pass because they'd always go when I went but I'd often go without them too. The only instance you might want everyone to have gold us when visiting other Herschend properties. Even then I'm not sure if the gold pass holder is limited to one discounted ticket or not. I've only experienced that once when I visited Wild Adventures which was supposed to 50% off but they couldn't figure it out so they gave me a complimentary ticket instead. 24. ^Kinda like the top half of all funnel slides. They do look impressive though. I'd say there might be some advantage for water control with these saucers, but yeah I think it's mostly for looks.
  25. ^I get what you're saying about too many rules to follow but it could be done quite simply. If upgraded to a watch-band like system, when it turns green you can skip another line. If still using the current wrist bands if you scan too early it'd say come back in xx minutes. The price points were just an example and could likely be justified at 10-15 dollars more on each one. Keep in mind while there would be a cheaper option and many more purchases may be made. By implementing a time constraints system the cheaper option would only be getting a max of 6 skips a day if you stay 9 hours at the park. Granted I don't have all the access to the numbers needed to give actual numbers or time constraints that would work properly. I do think going to a time based system would be more fair for everyone and would retain most of the value of the add ons. On the highest price tier you'd essentially get to enjoy the park at a fairly normal pace without waiting in lines, one ride every thirty minutes seems pretty reasonable for a natural flow but also eliminates abuse of people marathoning certain rides. On the lowest price tier you still get perks but you'd have to be a bit more selective on how you use it. Think of this as a mix between Qbots where you have a simulated wait, TimeSavers and Quick Ques where it limits the number of skips, and the current Fast Lane.
